Faithful viewers of The Wheel of Time (2021-present) all agreed on one thing: that the Prime Video epic fantasy series’ third and latest season, which premiered in March 2025, is without doubt its best ever season to date.

Visually stunning in terms of exotic locations, massive sets, exquisite costumes and mesmerizing special effects—coupled with powerhouse performances and stirring music score—The Wheel of Time Season 3 proved that the series can be as exquisitely-crafted as other acclaimed epic fantasy shows such as Game of Thrones (2011-2019) and House of The Dragon (2022-present).

In fact, Season 3’s Episode 4 ("The Road to the Spear") is easily one of the most cinematically stunning episodes ever seen in fantasy television history, a masterclass in terms of innovative technical and visual techniques with standout performances by leads Josha Stradowski and Rosamund Pike.

Besides scoring an astounding 97% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes, Season 3 of The Wheel of Time also scored highly in IMDB viewer ratings, averaging 8.7 across its eight episodes with the highest-rated chapter being the fore-mentioned Episode 4 with an impressive 9.4 score.

Based on Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson’s fantasy novel series and adapted by showrunner Rafe Judkins, there are unforgettable moments aplenty in The Wheel of Time Season 3.

Here are but 15 of them:

Top 15 Moments of ‘The Wheel Of Time’ Season 3

1. Rand’s Aiel Ancestry Visions (S3E4)

Easily the top highlight of Season 3 is when Rand Al’Thor (Stradowski) walks through the glass columns in the sacred city of Rhuiden in the Aiel Waste and has visions of his Aiel ancestors spanning over a 3000-year period.

Thanks to great direction and pacing—plus outstanding costumes, hair and makeup—Stradowski convincingly portrays Rand and six of his ancestors as he learns of his forefathers and Aiel history, from present-day Aiel warriors to the peace-loving Tuatha’an who practises the Way of the Leaf, to the Da'shain Aiel during the Age of Legends.

2. Moiraine’s Visions of a Thousand Futures (S3E4)

Within the Three Rings in Rhuidean, Moiraine Sedai (Pike) sees thousands and thousands of her possible futures.

Her two sequences are pure ballet - from a terrified Moiraine floating weightlessly in the Three Rings, to the mesmerizing “rotational” presentation of her alternate futures, most of which either showing her or Rand being slayed.

Though each rotational sequence is but a few seconds, you can see just how much details are put into each frame by the production crew. Kudos indeed!

3. “The Hills of Tanchico” (S3E6 - "The Shadow in the Night")

Ceara Coveney as Elayne in 'The Wheel of Time' Season 3 [Credit: Prime Video]

If Episode 4 is jaw-dropping, Episode 6 is easily the most fun to watch.

The instalment sees Nynaeve (Zoe Robins), Elayne (Ceara Coveney), Mat (Donal Finn) and Min (Kae Alexander) in Tachino hunting for the Black Ajah led by Liandrin (Kate Fleetwood).

Top highlight? Accompanied by gleeman Thom Merrillin (Alexandre Willaume), Elayne a.k.a the Daughter-Heir of Andor belting out the bawdy “The Hills of Tanchico” and leading the tavern crowd to a rowdy dance-along.

4. Compulsion At Work (S3E6)

A sobering oh-no moment in Episode 6 is when Moghedien (Laia Costa) the Forsaken places Nynaeve and Elayne under Compulsion in their Tanchico inn bedroom, not only making them do and say everything she wants them to, but also taking the a’dam bracelet from them.

A fascinating scene that shows Compulsion weaves and also reveals much off-screen plot information such as how Forsaken Rahvin a.k.a Lord Gaebril (Nuno Lopes) wants Elayne dead whilst Moghedien feels the powerful Nynaeve could be of use to her.

5. Rand’s Irrepressible Power (S3E6)

The enhanced channeling weaves have been great to watch in Season 3, none more so than that of Rand’s.

When ambushed by Sammael (Cameron Jack) and Aiel Darkfriends at Cold Rocks Hold, Rand shows the full extent of his channeling power when he attacks the warmongering Forsaken without even having to face him.

Alas, his attack also inadvertently kills the young Aiel, Alsera (Julie Van Leeuw). Manifesting all his powers to try and revive the dead girl, an exasperated Rand eventually learns that even the strongest channeler in the world cannot recreate life.

6. A Whitecloak Gets Toasted (S3E7 - “Goldeneyes”)

Nasty Aes-Sedai-burning Whitecloak Questioner Eamon Valda (Abdul Salis) finally gets his comeuppance when he is toasted to a crisp by Mat’s channeling sisters Bode and Eldrin (Litiana and Lilibet Bituanaseva respectively) during the Battle of Two Rivers for burning their mother alive.

By far, the most satisfying death in The Wheel of Time Season 3.

7. An Ogier’s Sacrifice (S3E7)

He is a character expected at The Last Battle in the books but yet, Loial’s (Hammed Animashaun) show-only sacrifice at the Waygate to prevent Trolloc reinforcements from reaching Elmond’s Field is rather apt during the brutal Battle of Two Rivers in Episode 7.

Every time Perrin (Marcus Rutherford) or Aiel Spear Maidens Bain (Ragga Ragnars) and Chaid (Maja Simonsen) pay tribute to the gentle Ogier, acknowledging that his “name sings in my ears,” you cannot but shed a tear or two knowing we will never see his like again.

8. Nynaeve’s A-ha Moment (S3E8 - "He Who Comes with the Dawn")

She is the strongest channeler in a thousand years but Nynaeve simply cannot channel unless she gets angry, very very angry. But that is all in the past now.

Thanks to Liandrin of all people, chaining Nynaeve and dumping her into the bottom of the seabed outside the Panarch's Palace in Tanchico allows the Two Rivers Wisdom to finally overcome her channeling block and embrace the One Power, resulting in “Nynaeve’s Moses moment” as fans are calling it.

9. Black Ajah at the White Tower (S3E1 - "To Race the Shadow")

The Wheel of Time Season 3 kicks off with an explosive fight in the White Tower Hall after Amyrlin Seat Siuan Sanche (Sophie Okonedo) accuses Liandrin as being a Darkfriend only to discover there are a good dozen other Darkfriends amidst the Aes Sedai headquarters.

The pulsating action carries onto the streets of Tar Valon with Alanna Sedai (Priyanka Bose) and her warders chasing the escaping Black Ajah, whilst Moiraine saves Suian from certain death when the latter is trapped by two Black Ajah sisters.

10. Amyrlin Seat Wannabe (S3E5 - "Tel'aran'rhiod")

The snarky Aes Sedai advisor to Andor’s Queen Morgase is not a Darkfriend but is purely narcissistic and power-hungry all the same and is wonderfully played to perfection by Emmy-winning and Oscar nominee Shohreh Aghdashloo.

With her Red Ajah power gowns and haughty ways, Elaida do Avriny a’Roihan steals every scene she is in especially in Episode 5, whether she is torturing Ajah Darkfriends for information or condescendingly calling the sitting Amyrlin Seat “river trash” to her face.

11. Moiraine vs Lanfear Showdown (S3E8)

The effects for various channeling weaves in Season 3 have been fabulous, and especially so during the Moiraine vs Lanfear (Natasha O’Keeffe) finale showdown in the Aiel Waste.

Using the Sakarnen, the most powerful sa'angreal for women channelers, to magnify her strength, Moiraine’s electric white One Power weaves contrast beautifully with Lanfear’s black evil-tainted weaves fueled by the True Power of the Dark One.

12. He Who Brings The Rain (S3E8)

In order to prove that he is the real Car'a'carn—and not Couladin (Set Sjöstrand) of the Shaido clan with his Lanfear-inked dragon tattoos—Rand massively channels the One Power to create never-before-seen rain in the Aiel Waste, which also dampens other parts of the Westlands continent as well.

13. Mat Floors the Andor Princes (S3E3 - "Seeds of Shadow")

Elayne’s brothers, Galad Damodred (Callum Kerr) and Gawyn Trakand (Luke Fetherston), may be eye candy for the novices of the White Tower but it was sheer joy to see our Hornblower Hero Mat giving the Andor princes a good hiding with his quarterstaff at the White Tower training arena.

They better remember to pay Mat two marks each!

14. Balefire Is Lit (S3E8)

At Panarch's Palace, we get to see a glimpse of balefire—a One Power weapon that can erase a person totally off the Pattern and reverses time a tad—when Black Ajah Jeaine Caide (Olivia Popica) uses it to attack Elayne and Thom using a fluted black rod ter'angreal.

Jeaine could not quite control it though but Elayne can—not only zapping the rogue Ajah out of existence but also bringing time back a couple of seconds, undoing the damage the earlier balefire strike did to the ceiling.

15. Siuan’s Swan Song (S3E8)

This Season 3 death was the most unexpected and hardest to take because in the books, Siuan Sanche goes on to become Egwene’s (Madeleine Madden) mentor and is present at the Last Battle.

Still, whatever the reason—whether the actress wanted out or the showrunner needed a shock-value twist—one cannot take away the breathtaking performance by Tony winner and Oscar/BAFTA/Emmy/Olivier nominee Sophie Okonedo as a beaten-black-and-blue Siuan defies Elaida Sedai who has cruelly dethroned her as the Amyrlin Seat.

The last words of the fisherman’s daughter—“I am Siuan Sanche, daughter of the river, water itself. And I defy you! I defy you, Elaida!”—will live long as one of the most unforgettable speeches in fantasy television history.
