The Top 10 Pokemon Cards from Destined Rivals

Ranking is based on expected value

By JakePublished 9 months ago 3 min read

Hello, welcome to a Destined Rivals top 10! This is a list of what I believe will be the top 10 cards for the Destined Rivals set. Please note that the dollar amounts next to the rankings are just estimates to the price I think it will be to buy a single of that card about a month after it's release on May 30th 2025. Destined rivals is looking to be a pretty expensive set considering booster boxes are selling online right now for almost $300.

1o. Ethan's Typhlosion IR ~ $35

A gen 2 starter Pokemon will surely have some fans that will want this card. Unfortunate that Typhlosion was cut from the upcoming Pokemon game later this year because of the allegations. The art is really cool in this card. Typhlosion looks menacing with Ethan to his side.

9. Misty's Psyduck IR ~ $40

Misty has always been a character favorite in the Pokemon franchise and psyduck is a gen 1 pokemon. This will also bring a lot of fans. I love the peaceful aesthic here. I definetly believe that this card will be very popular. With it being only an IR it is hard to value it higher.

8. Team Rocket's Giovanni SIR ~ $55

I mean what else to say, it's the most popular villian of the Pokemon franchise. With this card being an SIR and there is a chance that it could be playable card. I do expect this card to be a hit.

7. Cynthia's Garchomp Gold ~ $60

Cynthia collectors are salivating for this set! If gen 4 is your favorite generation than you remember losing to Cynthia in the elite 4. She was such a tough battle and that's partly why she is so popular in the franchise. Also, this is a gold card so there will be very few out there.

6. Team Rocket's Mewtwo Gold ~ $85

It's a mewtwo gold card. What else do you want me to say? Mewtwo is sick and gold cards are the hardest to pull.

5. Ethan's Adventure SIR ~ $120

Ethan looks like has having a great time running down a path with his pokemon. This card feels somewhat relatable to when we started out running down route 1 after receiving our starter pokemon in the gen 2 remakes. Cyndaquil and pichu in the art look great. Slugma being in there too is funny to me.

4. Ethan's Ho-oh SIR ~ $190

Ethan's Ho-oh will be a big card in this set. I debated putting it at 3 but I just couldn't put it over the amazing Moltres art. The colors on this card are beautiful. I definitely feel this card looks better in person. And this is another gen 2 pokemon with a lot of fans.

3. Team Rocket's Moltres SIR ~ $200

This card is the best art in the set in my opinion. The flames are so well done and the depth of this photo is so wonderfully crafted. A gen 1 legendary will be sure to have high demand.

2. Cynthia's Garchomp SIR ~ $225

I mean it's Cynthia and a Garchomp in a well crafted illustration. What's not to like here.

1. Team Rocket's Mewtwo SIR ~ $400

This just brings me back to the first movie. A Mewtwo and Giovanni card will create buzz. The art is well done but this definitely isn't my favorite chase card of all time. Maybe it looks better in person. We'll see.

Overall I think Destined Rivals is a solid set. Is it my favorite Scarlet and Violet set? No, but this set has a solid list of Illustration Rares and the Special Illustration Rares are stronger than most sets. I am expecting pull rates to be similar to Journey Together and that could have a big affect on the price. The chase card will be the Mewtwo but it's not my favorite chase card of Scarlet and Violet. What card will you being going after? Make sure to comment that below!

Honorable Mention: Spidops IR

I just love this card.
