The Spiritual Consequence of Masturbation

Masturbation

By Lightbringer Published 8 months ago 3 min read

Many individuals don't talk about masturbation, and especially avoid the topic in spiritual circles. And while most will talk about it from a medical or psychological standpoint, not much is mentioned about the spiritual aspects.

Let's face it, masturbation affects us spiritually and it could even be deadly to our spiritual existence. One of the major spiritual effects one could encounter is stagnation - feeling stuck in life with no progress or growth. Let us examine the spiritual effects of masturbation a little deeper and discuss the implications.

1. Loss of Spiritual Energy

In many spiritual traditions, sexual energy is regarded as highly potent. It is more than just physical pleasure, as it is ultimately a life force.

When someone is always expending this energy with masturbation, they are losing an element of their inner power, and could have otherwise accessed this energy to enhance their prayers, meditate deeply, create something new, or pursue goals before allowing everything to be wasted.

This can lead to a person feeling increasingly weak spiritually. They may feel that God is absent or find that they are unable to focus in prayer.

2. Stagnation in Life

Many men who frequently practice masturbation will often tell you that they feel stalled in their life. They have goals to improve spiritually, to improve their mental focus, or financially but it never seems to work. That is stalling.

The reason is simple—sexual energy is something that can be harnessed and redirected. When it is discharged, it becomes a weakness rather than a strength.

Spiritually, it narrows your perception and purpose to the point of blinding you. Instead of clearing your path to future goals, everything starts repeating in cycles.

3. Spiritual Blindness

Masturbation can blind someone spiritually. It will make it harder for them to hear from God or receive guidance.

The reality is that many people who once heard the Holy Spirit with clarity, often complain that after they fall into masturbation, they can no longer feel God's presence like before.

The reason this happens is that habitual self-gratification creates a form of spiritual noise to the heart. It seeds guilt, shame, and distraction into the heart and, over time, this becomes a disconnection to the soul.

4. Guilt and Condemnation

While some people continue to work to normalize masturbation, many people feel intense guilt after they have masturbated. This guilt isn't just emotional or psychological; it is spiritual.

It creates a 'veil' of sorts between them and God, as they are not praying with freedom and love, but rather hiding in shame, as Adam did shortly after he sinned in the Garden of Eden.

This shame causes people to stagnate spiritually, and assume that God is distant or that they are not worthy of God's love or grace.

5. Attraction of Demonic Influence

Some teachers of spirituality caution that continual sexual sin, including masturbation, can open the door to demonic influence. Spirits of lust, confusion, fear, and depression are apt to begin occupying and influencing us.

These spirits accompany emotional instability and spiritual confusion and can increase in strength as an individual continues to give in to the habit.

At some point an individual may feel bound as if they have no control over themselves.

6. Damage to Self-Worth

Although masturbation is considered a private moment, it impacts a persons self image. Eventually, it creates a lack of confidence. Spiritually, it removes your amplified purpose..

It begins to make you feel worthless, filthy or useless. While this may not be how God wants to see you, I can assure you the enemy does. When your self-worth is low, you will not dream big, you will not pray big, and you will not live in accordance with your calling.
