A Filmmaker's Review: "The Last Czars" (2019, Netflix)
I kind of don't want to admit that I watched this entire show in the space of a few days but here we are. Anyways, this show was definitely the right kind of show for me. A strange blend between a documentary starring some of the greats of Russian Historical Studies and then we have a dramatisation of it for the other half which dominates the show. The one thing I loved about this series is it takes the time to explain why things are happening the way they are and they are all set against a backdrop of the doctor coming to check if the stranger in the hospital is actually Anastasia or is just a woman with a severe mental disorder.

Doctor Who
Doctor Who is a British sci-fi show that has been running since the 1960s and it follows the adventures of an intrepid explorer who travels through space and time. What has kept this show fresh and different is the protagonist's ability to regenerate, giving the show a chance to bring in new actors and take the show in a different direction.

TV Characters Who I've just Realised are the Worst.
Remember when you watch a TV show for the very first time and you love it so much that several years later you binge watch it again? The second time around is always when you realise that a particular character is honestly the worst. Why is this? Maybe you’ve matured, or you have more life experience that really allows you to see these people as the horrible personas they are.

A Filmmaker's Review: War and Peace (2016, BBC)
I first watched this when it initially came on TV some four years' ago and back then, I couldn't put my finger on what was wrong with it, but it was something small and it bothered me. As I had read the book, I was concerned with the casting choices of some of the characters - especially the Rostova's daughter - Natasha. I never imagined her even remotely looking like Lily James, she seemed more classy and mysterious than that in the book and always had something she was hiding in some way or another. I don't think Lily James pulled that off, her acting was a little shallow. This is most of the reason that the show loses one and a half marks - but on with the rest of the review.

NBC's "Parks and Recreation is Better Than NBC's "The Office"
When talking with my friends about the TV shows we enjoy, I can count on at least one of them to say that NBC's The Office is their absolute favorite. I typically reply with: "The Office is great! But honestly, I think Parks and Recreation is better."

Wanna Throw a Ball, Slugger?
Arya Stark. Right? I mean, I've not watched a paltry second of Game of Thrones, ever (totally true, on my life) and even I am aware of the two milestones the 22-year-old scrappy thing has reached in her young life. She's had a shag and killed a big baddie. Basically James Bond, am I right? As a consumer of Westernised film and TV this is how it goes: ol' James Bond shoots and leaves like its his job (which it kind of is, now you think about it), ooh about a million times by now so what's the big furore? Why should it be so different, so 'wrong' for a 22 year old female assassin to get hers? The day after, news headlines shouted of 'Fans Cringe at Game Of Thrones Sex Scene' and a million GoT Twitter fan accounts had conniptions that a girl should take control and own her sexuality in this way. It was all anyone talked about for roughly 48 hours, so I had to look see.

Top 10: Annoying Female Characters in Anime
I thought I'd do annoying characters lists for anime characters and initially I was going to start with female characters because ladies first and all that jazz. Unfortunately, however, I underestimated the task at hand and couldn't put a list together - too many names to choose from. So I did male characters first and now I think I've got some names for the ladies!

'Survivor: Winners at War' Episode 3
So, wow. What a great episode tonight! First off, it was probably the best move to take out Danni. But, it's still Survivor, there's still more to come. For instance, Rob woke up Adam with a leaf and then, Adam started talking his way into taking out Parvati, hoping to get closer to Ethan & Rob without having that worry of Parvati always being above him in terms of trust with Rob & Ethan. And the new schoolers seemed into it. But, Ben wants Rob out, but he seems OK with the Parv vote. However, Adam then decided to tell Ethan, hoping to not blindside him with the Parvati vote. The issue is, he knows that Parvati is pretty much his #1 in the game. So, Ethan will likely let his ally know that Adam is after her.

Gentefied Season 1 Review
I was amazed at the trailer that dropped for the show. As soon as I watched the whole thing, I saved it on my list immediately. I took my sweet time on this show, like it deserves. I swear this show gave me a wide range of emotions that was hard to imagine that this was only 10 episodes. 10 episodes of wonderful goodness.

Arrow
I want to talk about how the last ever episode of arrow aired and how emotional it was considering the arrow is not necessarily known for being and emotional show. Arrow`s last episode aired on the 28th January 2020 and the director of the episode James Bamford did the hole 8 season justice. The episode was written by Marc Guggenheim and Beth Schwartz and they wrote the best possible ending that they could have done for arrow. Arrow has been on the CW network since 2012 this means the show has been running for 8 years, and the fans have loved every minute.

Top 10: Annoying Male Characters in Anime
I don't think I'll ever stop harping about how bad Gall Force: Eternal Story was to review. After all, it was the launching pad for my Old School Anime Reviews series - another favorite project of mine. It's also the source of the article you're reading now!
