Fandom Toxicity
Every major film or TV project, every major musician, every piece of media have what is referred to as a fandom. Fandom is the very internet way to refer to the fan community of a thing. Whether it be a franchise or a particular actor, fandoms can be an amazing source of community and bonding. They can also be very toxic. I am personally a part of a lot of fandoms so let's take these one by one from the absolute worst to the best.

A Tale of a Few TV Shows
The late front singer for Linkin Park, Chester Bennington once belted out, “In the end, it doesn’t even matter….” And that is what happens with the finale of the show Snowfall (2017-23). The kingpin, Franklin Saint (Damson Idris) is reduced to a bum’s status and is shown to be never brought to justice as he should’ve been. Some would say that his selfishness brought him to this lowly state. Most people cannot find in their minds the proper role of selfishness in an individual’s life in art.

Riverdale
In a land of endless teen dramas writers and networks are constantly asking themselves, how do we keep audiences interested? Riverdale has kept audiences captivated for several too many seasons and the question is how? I think an important place to start is with the evolution of the teen drama.

Oversexualizing Teenagers
Teen dramas are and have always been a popular genre. Some of them, like Dawson’s Creek, go about their characters' romances in an honest and somewhat wholesome way. Others (and this is unfortunately the majority) like One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, Riverdale and most recently Euphoria have a habit of oversexualizing their teenage characters. Now this is wildly problematic for so so many reasons but the strongest of which is that this leads to real life consequences.

Comic Book Recommendations
If your favorite MCU movies are the Guardians of the Galaxy movies then here are your comic book recommendations. I want to preface this with; the Guardians comics are nothing like their live action counterpart. In fact when my dad and I went to see it he was really not excited because the comics are very camp and goofy. But he was blown away by the movie and it became one of his favorites, so if you are experiencing Marvel in the reverse and taking comic recommendations off of the movies you might not experience the same love for the story. Especially if you are interested in origin stories. The further back you go into this team's appearances the less familiar it gets.

Rebecca's New Love Interest
Rebecca Welton’s new love interest in Ted Lasso is a mysterious handsome nameless Dutchman and I’m all in for the ride. Rebecca is one of my favorite characters on the show. She is, in fact, the core of the show as it is based on the premise that Rebecca, who got the London’s Richmond football club in a divorce settlement from her “asshole” of a rich cheating husband named Rupert Mannion, hired Ted Lasso of Kansas, who knew nothing about soccer, as the head coach deliberately, to ruin the club – Rupert’s favorite toy – and blame the failure on the clueless American.

Mishandled Adaptations
In a world where both the MCU and DCEU exist we have been blessed with some excellent live action adaptations of our favorite characters. But nearly as frequently we have seen characters be completely misused and mishandled. Almost like those writing for these characters don’t even know who they are. Wikipedia is free and the literal least you could possibly do. However I am a firm believer that if you are going to write a comic book movie you need to read the most important storylines for the character or characters that you are handling and I will die screaming on this hill. I am sick of poorly handled comic book characters. So here we go the characters who were done the dirtiest in their live action adaptations.

Comic Book Recommendations
The MCU version of the Infinity Saga was great for what it was, but the reality is there were very many characters missing. So if you liked the infinity stones and the stories that surrounded them then the comics are going to be great for you. Now the MCU did what it does best and that is combining several comic book storylines to recreate and refresh them on screen. So just reading one title won’t really give you the fullness of the story. So here we go with comic books to read if your favorite MCU movie is Infinity War (or Endgame).
