“X-Men ‘97”: No-Spoiler Review of Episode 1
“X-Men ‘97” made its Canadian premiere at Toronto Comicon—fittingly on a Saturday morning, which is a throwback to when the original show was a Saturday Morning cartoon that people would tune in for. The premiere was screened in the Xavier’s Lounge for Gifted Youngsters—two conference rooms transformed into a giant North American living room, complete with bean bags, mismatched sofas, posters stuck on walls, and display cabinets. It was adorable.

Why I Stopped Watching One Piece
If you know a thing or two about anime and manga, you don’t need me to tell you that One Piece is a legendary series. Deemed one of the “Big Three” alongside two other powerhouse shonen that started around the late 90s and early 2000s, Naruto and Bleach, One Piece is the best selling and arguably most successful manga of all time (to the point where there was a joke circling around the Internet that it had sold more copies than the Bible—not true, but don’t tell the fans that).

Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
As a huge fan of Amy Palladino I have been meaning to watch The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel for quite a while now and I just haven’t gotten a chance to do so yet. And by haven’t gotten a chance I mean I accidentally keep rewatching things I’ve already seen 12 times. Now I think anything Palladino does is gold and I have really only heard and seen good things about this show so I couldn’t wait to dive in.

Ricky Stanicky
Amazon Prime has kind of been cranking out the original content lately and though not everyone is going see these hilarious and creative movies they are actually pretty good. Our latest endeavor includes Zac Efron and John Cena in the cast and quite honestly that is all I needed to know before deciding to watch this movie.

Ripley: Non-Traditional Review
I’m teaching media literacy this semester and a couple of weeks ago we were discussing how useful it is to know that any entertainment content has a potential to work for us, consumers, at four different (albeit often overlapping) dimensions: cognitive, affective, aesthetic, and moral.

The Other Black Girl Hulu Series
I swear my coworker is after my job. Based on the novel written by Zakiya Dalila Harris, The Other Black Girl is a 2023 Hulu series. Nella Rogers, an African-American, is hired as an editorial assistant in a white NYC publishing firm. Her ideas are ignored - until a black co-worker is hired, changing the dynamic.

My Review of "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire"
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is the latest installment of the Warner Brother's Monsterverse franchise in 2024. It is big, loud and dumb but that's why someone would go see this type of movie. If you're a fan of the previous movies then you're going to love this one because it dials everything up a few notches. There are plenty of giant monster fights to keep you entertained.
