'The Graduate'
The cinematography of the The Graduate is beautiful in its practicality. The first frame portrays Ben almost as if to say out-loud "this is our protagonist" and widens as though to say "and this is where he is." It then cuts to a somewhat profile view of him on the travelator which in itself reflects the fact that he is being propelled in life through no will of his own. He could have just as easily been walking, moving himself forward on his own accord, but the travelator is a more accurate representation of his current state and the message of the film. The audience cannot see what is in front of him, which is a reflection of how Ben views his own future; he doesn't know where he's going and the soundtrack is a glimpse into his own subconscious feelings about it. He's worried or even depressed concerning his own assertions of his future. This is expressed aloud by his father when he asks him about his future and Ben responds with ambiguity, which is more accurately portrayed with "The Sound of Silence." Ben's aimlessness is depicted in several other ways through the cinematography such as when he is in the pool drifting in the foreground, seemingly content while his parents are nearly submerged behind him. His aimlessness is perhaps no better depicted, if not most literally, as when he's leaning against his door next to his dartboard. None of the darts are anywhere near the bull's-eye. None of his attempts at happiness have come to fruition. No matter where he lands or what he achieves Ben feels lost or as though he's "missed the mark."

'Avengers: Infinity War' Predictions
Ever since they announced that the film was being pushed up a week to April 27th, we all have been asking the same question; Is there going to be a second trailer? We are a little over a month away and all we have is that one teaser trailer three months ago.

What If Black Panther's Killmonger Had Won?
Erik Killmonger's last line in Black Panther was uncomfortable. Sitting in the theater, I felt angry that Marvel had just made me feel a resounding empathy for their psychotic villain (and make no mistake, he is psychotic). I also, as a writer, felt jealousy over the brilliance of what they'd just done.

Hey Cable TV, Stop Cutting the Credit Roll and Final Score!
I'm not one of these movie aficionados who must sit alone in the dark so I can see who the third best boy was in a production. But it drives me nuts when the cable company micro-boxes the credits and cuts off the ending score. Of course, it’s not necessary to play the entirety of the scroll. Raiders of the Lost Ark, for one, descends into a romantic drone after the iconic uplift. So feel free to cut away after about a minute.

'Love, Simon'
So I’m sure everyone that is connected to social media or goes to the movies knows about this movie. When the trailers started to release people were very excited to see a major network like 20th Century Fox make a movie about a gay kid in high school. And I think some people might have been a little worried at first, that it wouldn’t represent people of the LGBT+ community correctly, or that it would end on something tragic. Because that’s what we’ve all seen for a very long time with most movies or TV shows with an LGBT character. I’m only 20 years old and even when I was in high school, which wasn’t that long ago, there really weren't too many stories about LGBT people that ended well or were properly represented, and not just like the stereotypes of LGBT people.

The Best Movies You've Never Heard of... and They're All on Netflix
If you are living in the 21st century and own a television, you probably have a Netflix account. Most Netflix accounts are used for binging a TV show when the weather is bad or maybe watching an occasional movie. The remaining time on Netflix is spent searching. You fumble through category after category of movies attempting to pick one you haven't seen. Maybe you're successful or maybe you just give up and resort back to a classic or an old favorite. Luckily for you, I am not a huge fan of watching the same movies over and over again so I have discovered some hidden gems you might not know of that Netflix has to offer.

Where Are the Jews, Disney?
Growing up as a kid in the late 90's I loved Disney movies. I would ask my mother to put on Lion King 2: Simba's Pride at least five times a day, waking up to it, and it being the last thing I watched before I went to bed. I even watched the sequel before the original like the unorganized child (and adult) that I am.

The Date Change for 'Infinity War' Is Bigger than You Think
Robert Downey Jr. and Marvel Studios rocked the world when they announced that the third Avengers film would be pushed ahead from May 4 to April 27, meaning that fans would have to wait one less week before Earth’s mightiest heroes face off against the Mad Titan. This change in release date did not come without consequence, as the Dwayne Johnson monster flick Rampage was also pushed up a week ahead of its April 20 release date (much to the disappointment of stoners). However, there’s more to it than simply shuffling when a movie will come out, in fact, this affects the entire spring and summer blockbuster seasons.

Baby Got Buns: Paying 'Fitting' Tribute to the Comic Book Movie Poster Butt Pose
"Oh my god, Becky, look at her butt!" exclaims an awestruck blonde to her BFF in the opening of Sir-Mix-A-Lot's 1992 hit song, "Baby Got Back." Over the course of the wiggle-inducing track, the rapper from Seattle waxes poetic on the endless allure of the "bootay," producing what has ultimately become one of the most popular and enduring rump shakers in the known universe. Perhaps it was only by cosmic coincidence that May 2017 — which marked the 25th anniversary of Sir Mix-A-Lot's still remarkably popular song — also saw the theatrical release of the Marvel Studios film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. Though one might seemingly have nothing at all to do with the other, a promotional image for Guardians 2 somehow brings Sir Mix-A-Lot's song to mind. The image to which I'm referring is a pulse-pounding panorama that features seven members of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2's extremely colorful cast. Featured at its center, next to a stylish and heroic-looking Star Lord (Chris Pratt) is the green-skinned and gorgeous Gamora (Zoe Saldana), with her little leather-clad buns turned tantalizingly toward the viewer.
