Opera's Race Problem. Top Story - January 2018.
Many of today’s most popular operas traditionally take place in locations considered exotic by Western culture: Verdi’s epic Aida takes place in Ancient Egypt. Puccini’s famous Turandot takes place in medieval China, and his Madame Butterfly in late nineteenth-century Japan.

The Rebirth of Animation on Youtube
Animation and YouTube. The two have had a rocky history together. The ability to create and upload content on your own without any company interference should be the independent animator's dream. Yet this history has obstructed animation's reign on YouTube. Up until recently, when YouTube began to be reborn on the platform, but I'm getting ahead of myself. We must start at the beginning.

'Hamilton' Finally Comes to London
Earlier this month, I was lucky enough to go to the second preview of Hamilton which officially opened at the Victoria Palace theatre in London on 21 December. I had wanted to see Hamilton live since I first heard the soundtrack of the original Broadway cast a year and a half ago. I had never heard anything like it. The idea seemed strange — a hip hop musical about the founding father Alexander Hamilton — and yet it worked so well. It was innovative, daring, and brilliant. Every song was so strong and I longed to see it performed live on stage.

7 Fictional Athletes that Would Make Sports Fun Again

These are seven fictional athletes that would make sports fun again.

Thanks YouTube
I started to watch YouTube videos when I was just nine-years-old. I would fight over the computer with my sister so that I could watch Blair Fowler, aka, Juicystar07, apply bright blue eyeshadow to her lids. I would then spend the following hours watching Shay Carl raise his kids. No matter who I was watching at the time, I was in love with the whole concept. The idea that these people walked around the grocery store with a camera in hand or sat in their room talking to a camera fascinated me.

The Best Fiction Podcasts I Listened to in 2017
I spend a lot of time with sound coming out of my phone, earbuds in or not. My Spotify year in review came out as 122.7 days of listening to music because I listen to it while I sleep and study and do just about anything. But that doesn't even begin to hit on the podcasts I listened to on the Apple Podcast app. Working all summer with people I didn't share a whole lot in common with, or doing a lot of work on my own meant I needed something to keep me from going insane. So to podcasts I turned. I had listened to Welcome to Night Vale and Alice Isn't Dead, and a few episodes of Serial, but beyond that, I really didn't know what to listen to.

How the Fox/Disney $50 Billion Merger Will Impact the Entertainment Industry. Top Story - December 2017.
Although it has been rumored for some time, the official announcement came in mid December that Disney would acquire a majority of 21st Century Fox for an astounding $52.4 billion. This anticipated merger is the second largest in the entertainment industry at roughly half the cost of the AOL-Time Warner merger in 2001, and could have long-lasting impact on the future of Hollywood.
