The Best New Podcasts of 2017
About this time last year, I did a piece on the best new podcasts of 2016, highlighting a list of shows that represent the best of what the medium of podcasting can attain: The West Wing Weekly, Craig's List, Matt & Doree's Eggcellent Adventure: An IVF journey, and The Jackie & Laurie Show.

Academy Awards Through Time
This evening I spent the last 3 hours scouring over the past 45 years of Academy Award winners. The reason I didn't go further back is because I wanted to know what and who has won since I've been alive. I wanted to see if I agreed with the Academy's choices based on what I know of the movies and actors or actresses. I got very passionate about some of my opinions and decided to write a series of articles expressing those opinions, this one being the first of that series.

Equal Mediocrity
Having rewatched the Legend of Korra final recently, the thing that probably bothers me most is the constant complaint that the Korrasami relationship and in turn, ending shouldn’t have happened because it was rushed. Not because the relationship wasn’t rushed—it certainly was, especially when compared to relationships in The Last Air Bender—but because so much of the show was rushed, including many heterosexual relationships, and yet this relationship seems to be the only thing that catches fire for the show wide issue.

‘Alice in Wonderland’ and the World Around It
The Many Versions of Alice Alice in the Country of Joker Joker no Kuni no Alice or Alice in the Country of Joker is one installment in the 'no Kuni no Alice' series. The author, QuinRose, and illustrator, Mamenosuke Fujimaru, worked together to put a new twist on the classic Alice in Wonderland in a shoujo style manga. It takes the characters that everyone knows and loves and gives them a sexy personified existence. The beloved series first appeared February 5th, 2013, published by Seven Seas Publishing and soon became a fan favourite. (Source)

Is HQ the Next 'Jeopardy'?
If you are of a certain age, you grew up with Jeopardy. In fact, you would be one of around 11 million viewers that regularly watch Alex Trebek each night as he lightly condescends clues to hopeful contestants. It is the second most popular game after Wheel of Fortune in the Western world.

Oscar Predictions 2018
With the nominations having been announced, the Oscar race has officially began. On March 4, the best and brightest of Hollywood will step onto the red carpet in all their finery and endure the relentless lights and cameras just to witness who will take home those coveted golden statues. With The Shape of Water leading the pack this year with 13 nominations, followed by Dunkirk with 8 and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri with 7, it’s sure to be a night full of deserving winners, and a few unexpected surprises. Maybe? But with only one month to go, here are my predictions for who will win in the top categories at the 90th Annual Academy Awards.

7 Underrated Musicals You Need to Listen to Right Now
It's no secret that there's an overwhelming amount of cast recordings available to theatre fans, so it can be hard to pin down what deserves a listen first. Below are seven musicals that stood out to me when I listened to 150+ recordings I hadn't heard of last year. You may be reminded of an old favorite, or discover a new one, but each one is unique and worth a listen.

Magic Trouble Shooting
What Is Magic (Vol. 1 Issue 1) Author Note: I originally wrote The Magic Trouble Shooting series in 2012 - 2014 and I left it alone. It was going to be sent to Richard Kaufman at Genii Magazine but I never got a response from Kaufman after pitching him the idea. My ideology and thoughts on magic have changed but I have not bothered updating - I want to leave the content of the series as it is as a benchmark to my own growth - I will probably revisit and the series with updates. Please enjoy and I'd love to receive feedback. Let's begin.
