For New York City Actor Yaron Urbas, Late is Never Bad and Ignorance is a Strength
As good as a set up alongside the punchlines on The Jim Gaffigan Show is, Yaron Urbas has run in tangent with quite a number of roles in indie feature films and television. These include parts with Paul Sorvino, Navid Negahban (Homeland) and Michael Angarano (The Knick) as well as roles in The Blacklist and Orange is the New Black. A down to earth guy with a strong background in almost everything, Urbas got his first glimmer when he landed a part in the History Channel Mini-Series, The Men who Built America. But the "big break" stood in jeopardy after an on-set mix-up meant Urbas wasn't sent a two-page speech the night before and was given only ten minutes to memorize it before shooting. With an entire production on hold, not only did the Israeli born actor refuse to fold, he actually felt relatively secure with everything on the line.

The Bachelor Franchise Has a Race Problem
I make no secret of the fact that I’m a proud member of Bachelor Nation. I ignore the haters, the ones that don't understand the show's appeal. The Bachelor and all of its respective spin-offs are my brain candy. When I learned one of my favorite people from the last season of The Bachelor, Rachel Lindsay, had been selected as the new Bachelorette, I was ecstatic! She is a perfect choice. Well-liked by the audience and by the women with whom she competed for Nick Viall’s love, and one of the few people of color on any of the shows to make it to the final three, the show’s producers knew they were capturing lightning in a bottle.

But Can We Still Like the Huxtables?
I’m pretty sure Bill Cosby is guilty, a friend says to me, but can we still like the Huxtables? In a word - no. The Cosby Show was the only show about African-Americans on television for a while when I was a kid. I thought Lisa Bonet was the essence of bohemian cool and wanted to be just like her when I grew up. I had a crush on Malcolm-Jamal Warner, as did every other girl in my class. So, I used to understand when people asked me this question. Years ago, before the number of victims began to rise, topping out at 60 last I counted. Before I discovered a news story from the 1980’s, where Cosby’s own daughter was sexually assaulted by a well-known public figure and Cosby advocated on the perpetrator's behalf, negotiating a deal to get her attacker psychological therapy instead of jail time. By all accounts, he attended one session. I’m sure he’s reformed. Cosby’s daughter was going through a dark time that year and she and her father were estranged. Her father seemed to blame her, at least partially, for the assault, based on his statements.

Who Should Play Carnage In the Venom Movie?
We got our bad guy for "Venom". It was recently announced that the main antagonist for the Venom movie will be the symbiote, Carnage. Venom, who is being played by actor Tom Hardy, is considered to be the source or "father" for the creation of Carnage. Carnage is an alien symbiote that attaches himself to psychopath murderer Cletus Kasady.

Why It Doesn't Matter How Carrie Fisher Died
Like every Star Wars fan I know, I was devastated when I learned that Carrie Fisher, the woman behind one of the most iconic science fiction heroines ever, died Dec. 27 at the age of 60. I was a fan of her acting, including her non-Star Wars roles (When Harry Met Sally still ranks among my favorites), and of her openly hilarious and often heartwarming manner in which she wrote. I remember thinking that what I'd read was simply not real, that she would somehow bounce back from the coma she was in and while it would undoubtedly take time for her to heal, she would be back.

Jorge Luis Borges, the Maker
As a long time fan of comic books, fantastical situations, and trips into the unknown, the work of Argentine literary master Jorge Luis Borges should become everyone's obsession. Why, you ask? In many ways, his work left not only an indelible mark on the literary world but also on the wider world of arts and entertainment as well. The work of director Christopher Nolan with films such as Inception, Memento, and The Prestige resemble some of the best Borges stories such as "The Garden of Forking Paths" and "The Aleph". His works are full of duplicity and metaphysical mysteries as much as they are filled with the symbols that he was obsessed with, namely mirrors, infinite libraries, and planes of existence that may or may not exist. Take into account as well the time Borges was born (1899) and you begin to see just how amazingly futuristic they were in depicting the world we are living in today. Perhaps one of the reasons Borges had such a far-reaching vision of things material and immaterial is the fact he was such a bibliophile. He famously said that " I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library". He spent thousands of hours in those hallowed places when he became head of the National Public Library in Buenos Aires in 1955, writing many of his immortal stories during this period.
