'American Fiction' and the Academy
When I recently watched ‘American Fiction,’ I posted on X that I thought writer-director Cord Jefferson thoroughly deserved his Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay, being a witty, well-acted, and biting satire. I also opined, however, that I’m not sure how its title character, Monk Ellison (a black writer, like Jefferson), would feel if he won the award for his own work.

Hey everyone! Good news: Halo Season 2 is out now, and I have just stepped away from my TV screen. If you haven't seen Season 1 yet, make sure to check it out first, because Season 2 continues the story from there. Let me tell you that season 2 also brought with it a total of eight episodes, like its previous one.

Gene Tierney (1920 - 1991)
Every few years a newspaper publishes an opinion piece by a woman writing about how she struggles to make friends, but is still successful because of her ‘pretty’ privilege. The comments section suggests that most people do not, in fact, find her attractive and that she is kidding herself. Because even though we know that there is a privilege to prettiness (to the extent that we don’t want to face the world with a pimple, or a ‘bad-hair' day), we don’t want to hear about it. It feels like bad taste to suggest you are a person benefitting from looking good.

Physical 100: Season 2 Review: Another Round of Excitement!
I've been following Physical: 100, a Korean reality TV show, since its first season, and I must say, Season 2 didn't disappoint. It offers something refreshingly different from what I've experienced before. However, one aspect that left me a bit disappointed was the Hindi dubbing.

[Opinion] An Open Letter: Dear Miriam Margolyes...
"I worry about Harry Potter fans because they should be over that by now..." If you're not the kind of person who keeps one eye on news from the world of Harry Potter as I do, you might not have heard these words come out of the mouth of Ms. Miriam Margolyes who played Professor Pomona Sprout, head of Hufflepuff House, in the Harry Potter series. Fans are understandably upset by these words, which are yet another set of words from people behind the Harry Potter series that only serve to alienate the people for whom these stories are an important and integral part of life. I am one of those people, one of those who found a home in the pages of a story about a boy wizard and his snowy owl. I am one of those people who Ms. Margolyes has criticised and hurt with her words, inasmuch as someone can be hurt by the words of someone they don't know.
