Ultimate Freaks and Geeks Pop Culture Guide
Freaks and Geeks is one of the rare series, cut short, but hangs together perfectly as 18 episodes of pure genius. It has a beginning, a body and that rare quality so hard to find in singular seasons cut short; an end. As such it does not suffer the same fate as so many series, unfinished for lack of renewal. Irrespective of the fact that there are so many success stories that evolved from this unique series, the style, vibe and humor was way ahead of its time, and stands on its own as an iconic creative accomplishment. It defined the 1980s for a generation of millennials. The 18 episodes are literally a pop culture encyclopedia. The detailed analysis that follows takes a look at each and every episode, specifically looking at the show from a pop culture trivia standpoint wheneve applicable. As you read through the episodes, it becomes clear that the show was about more than its individuals, more about the whole and mostly one huge metaphor for the 1980s. The show was about defining the categories that separate us, and then using pop culture to deconstruct those divisions. At the end of the 18 episode story arc, pop culture unites us all, and we realize we are all Freaks and Geeks.

While Tom Cruise knows how to hustle pool in the movie, The Color Of Money, it’s not often that you fall in love in a pool hall, except for when it comes to billiards movies. There never seems to be a lack of beautiful women in the celluloid world of pool halls. Perhaps cracking balls has its appeal to the fairer sex, especially when they are good with a cue. The women in these billiards films give the guy shooters a real run for the money.

The only thing Daleks will be exterminating this holiday season is the turkey or ham! They’ll probably overcook it, but the Doctor always has a backup plan for you. Unfortunately, your favorite British alien probably won’t be in attendance at your holiday dinner. However, you can still feel the Doctor’s presence with some cool geeky Doctor Who products. The only way it could be any better was if the Doctor Who Christmas Special got swapped for a Thanksgiving special. But unlikely, given the British don't celebrate Thanksgiving.

History of Movie Publicity Stunts
The biggest publicity stunt in movie history was probably Mike Todd's million-dollar send-off for Around the World in Eighty Days. That would be $8,700,000 adjusted for inflation today. The 1956 film was adapted from the novel of the same name by Jules Verne. As a technicolor action adventure comedy, it follows the journey of Phileas Fogg, a Victorian Englishman who bets he can circumnavigate the world in 80 days with the new steamships and railways. To celebrate the production and release of the book turned movie, Mike Todd hired the old Madison Square champagne supper for 18,000, offering prominently among other hors d'oeuvres, his wife Elizabeth Taylor on a pink elephant.
