Supergirl: The World

DC has announced Supergirl: The World, a new hardcover anthology that puts the Maiden of Might in the spotlight through original stories created by writers and artists from 15 different countries. The series follows similar global anthologies that tackled Batman and Superman. Launching simultaneously worldwide on June 2, 2026, the collection reimagines Supergirl through a wide range of cultural perspectives, artistic styles, and storytelling traditions.

This volume sends Kara Zor-El across Germany, Italy, Spain, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Cameroon, France, Poland, Turkey, Finland, Colombia, Serbia, Japan, and the United States. Each country contributes a standalone story rooted in its own voice and creative identity, forming a shared portrait of what Supergirl represents around the world.

By placing Supergirl in so many locations, the anthology highlights how universal her struggles are. Whether she is navigating a crowded city, a quiet town, or a place shaped by deep history, Kara’s search for belonging mirrors the experiences of people everywhere. That emotional throughline gives the book a strong sense of unity, even as the art styles and tones shift from chapter to chapter.

For more on how the sausage is made, don’t miss my interview with Katie Kubert and Brian Azzarello, who did a story for the Batman anthology.

The book will be released day-and-date across all participating regions, thanks to DC’s international publishing partners. These include Panini in Germany, Italy, Spain, Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico; Ovni in Argentina; Zebra Comics in Cameroon; Dargaud/Urban Comics in France; Story House Egmont in Poland; Story House Egmont Oy Ab in Finland; Čarobna Knjiga in Serbia; and JBC in Turkey. Every edition reflects its home country’s creative vision while allowing fans everywhere to experience the anthology together.

This coordinated global release is a statement in itself. It treats international audiences as equal participants rather than secondary markets. Readers in different countries will be discovering these stories at the same time, creating a shared moment for Supergirl fans across continents. That sense of connection mirrors the theme of the book and reinforces its global ambition.

Supergirl

Long regarded as a symbol of hope, resilience, and compassion, Supergirl’s story takes on new dimensions here as creators explore how Kara’s search for belonging resonates across borders. The anthology frames her as both an outsider learning to understand her adopted world and a hero whose values translate universally, no matter the setting.

Each chapter stands on its own, ranging from intimate, street-level moments to sweeping, larger-than-life tales. Together, they create a version of Supergirl that feels at once deeply personal and truly global.

The 184-page hardcover will retail for $24.99 in the U.S. and release worldwide on June 2, 2026, wherever books and comics are sold.

Each country will also have its own cover. Check those out below!
