Two Pints P***K: Still Game star joins Marvel universe

A Still Game star has surprised fans by appearing alongside Wolverine and Deadpool in the new Marvel movie.

Wrexham owner and Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds shared the exclusive new advert for the film on Monday.

The Marvel Universe has a massive following throughout the world and the new Deadpool and Wolverine movie is set to be a hit.

But keen eyed Still Game and Chewin the Fat fans noticed a surprise cameo from one of the Clansman regulars in the short clip.

As Wolverine enters a pub at the start of the advert, he is told to leave by the man behind the bar.

It's not Boaby the barman who tries to evict the superhero from his pub, but one of his regulars who has turned his hand to server.

Greg Hemphill, who plays iconic character Victor McDade in the hit Glasgow comedy, is seen working as a barman as he refuses to serve Hugh Jackman's character.

Victor, along with his pal Jack Jarvis, are famously one of the Clansman's regular customers.

They usually greet Boaby with a putdown such as "two pints p***K" when they appear at their local in the hit BBC comedy that ran from 2002 until 2019 and spawned sveral stage shows at the Hydro.

Deadpool and Wolverine, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman back in their biggest roles, is set to be released this summer.

Reynolds, who has over 20 million followers on X, formerly known as Twitter, shared a two minute 39 seconds clip on his social media pages that is due to excite millions of Marvel fans worldwide.

Hemphill's Still Game co-star Ford Kiernan has had a taste of Hollywood himself after playing a fire-man in the hit movie Gangs of New York beside the likes of Daniel Day-Lewis, Leonardo Di Caprio and Cameron Diaz.

Deadpool & Wolverine is an upcoming American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics characters Deadpool and Wolverine, produced by Marvel Studios, Maximum Effort, and 21 Laps Entertainment, and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It is intended to be the 34th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and a sequel to Deadpool (2016) and Deadpool 2 (2018).

It is set to be released in the UK in July 2024.

Every Glaswegian's favourite sitcom, Still Game is a Scottish sitcom produced by Effingee Productions, The Comedy Unit and BBC Scotland. It was created by Ford Kiernan and Greg Hemphill, who played the lead characters, Jack Jarvis, Esq and Victor McDade, two Glaswegian pensioners.

It was originally spinoff from TV sketch show Chewin' the Fat, which aired in Scotland from January 1999 until December 2005.

Following its debut on 6 September 2002, 62 episodes of Still Game were aired, including Christmas and Hogmanay specials, in addition to almost 50 live shows. The first three series were broadcast only on BBC One Scotland, though five episodes selected from the first two series were later broadcast throughout the UK on BBC Two in January and February 2004. From the fourth series, Still Game was broadcast across the UK on BBC Two. After season 6, it seemed that episodes stopped being created due to the two creators getting into an argument and deciding to go their separate ways for many years. The two eventually got back together to make the seventh series in 2016, and the programme was broadcast on BBC One.

Fans will be excited to see Victor on the big screen when Deadpool and Wolverine is released this summer.

After being content with his decision to retire as Wolverine for several years, Jackman had a change of heart in mid-August 2022 and decided that a team-up film with Reynolds "could be so much fun; I'll probably have more fun on that movie than anything I've ever done"
