WWE’s Saturday Night Main Event Preview: A Geek’s Guide to Must-See Moments by NWO Sparrow

WWE SATURDAY NIGHT MAIN EVENT QUICK PREDICTION LIST

Gunther (retains World Heavyweight Championship)

Seth Rollins (over LA Knight, via interference)

Drew McIntyre (over Randy Orton, Logan Paul involvement)

Solo Sikoa (retains U.S. Title, Jacob Fatu teases chaos)

Wildcard: Seth Rollins attempts a cash-in post-main event—but fails or gets interrupted.

Usually, WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event specials feel like filler—a way to keep the machine rolling between PPVs without much consequence. But tonight’s show on NBC at 8 PM feels different. The matchups carry weight, the stakes are real, and there’s a sense that WWE is actually trying to make this one matter. At least thats how im feeling , Maybe it’s the looming shadow of SummerSlam, or maybe they’ve finally realized that even these one-off shows deserve effort. Either way, this card has my attention. Which i didnt predict when this was first announce at the top of the year.

From Goldberg’s (supposed) retirement match to the simmering tension between Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu, tonight’s lineup is packed with stories that could shift the landscape heading into the summer. Even the midcard bouts, LA Knight vs. Seth Rollins, Randy Orton vs. Drew McIntyre, feel like they have purpose beyond just filling time. That’s a rare thing for an SNME show, and it makes me wonder if WWE is testing the waters for bigger things.

So, let’s break it down. Here’s how I see tonight playing out and why this might be the most consequential Saturday Night’s Main Event in years.

Gunther (c) vs. Goldberg – World Heavyweight Championship

Will Goldberg Shock the World and Retire as Champion… Or Is Gunther’s Reign Unstoppable?

Goldberg’s return was met with groans, and rightfully so , because nobody asked for this. But credit to Gunther, who has somehow made this feud compelling through sheer force of will. The man has carried this program on his back, turning what could’ve been a forgettable nostalgia pop into a must-see moment. Now, with Goldberg’s career officially on the line, the question isn’t just who wins? but what’s next? If Goldberg somehow pulls off the upset, where does he go from here? A rematch? A Bron Breakker feud? It all feels forced. The cleaner path is Gunther retaining, solidifying his reign, and moving toward SummerSlam with a fresh challenger—maybe even Seth Rollins cashing in tonight to set up a triple threat. But Goldberg winning would be chaos, and chaos can be fun. Still, my gut says Gunther retains, because the future of this title can’t be built on a part-timer’s farewell.

LA Knight vs. Seth Rollins

Can LA Knight Pull Off the Upset—Or Is Seth Rollins Too Focused on the Money in the Bank Briefcase?

This feud has been a pleasant surprise, mostly because LA Knight has been killing it on the mic. He’s held his own against Rollins, turning what could’ve been a throwaway match into something with real heat. The problem? Rollins has bigger fish to fry, namely, that Money in the Bank briefcase burning a hole in his pocket. His distraction could cost him, but with Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed lurking, I doubt WWE lets him lose clean. This feels like a match where interference leads to a Rollins victory, keeping him strong for his eventual cash-in. Seth Rollins wins, but LA Knight walks away looking like a star.

Randy Orton (with Jelly Roll) vs. Drew McIntyre

Will Drew McIntyre Get His Revenge… Or Is Randy Orton Setting Up a SummerSlam Tag Team Showdown?

Orton and McIntyre have always had great chemistry, there’s a real animosity that bleeds into their matches. But this isn’t just about them; it’s about setting up SummerSlam. Drew needs a big win to reestablish himself, and Orton’s partnership with Jelly Roll feels like the precursor to a tag match against Logan Paul (and maybe McIntyre) down the line. I’m calling it now: Drew McIntyre wins after Logan Paul gets involved, planting the seeds for a tag team spectacle next month.

Solo Sikoa (c) vs. Jimmy Uso – WWE United States Championship

Is Jimmy Uso’s Redemption Finally Here—Or Will Jacob Fatu’s Shadow Cost Him the Title?

The Bloodline saga isn’t what it used to be, but that doesn’t mean it’s dead. Jacob Fatu’s looming presence adds a layer of unpredictability to this match, will he cost Solo the title? Or will Solo survive, setting up a future clash? Jimmy winning would be a fun swerve, but Solo just claimed the belt, and dropping it so soon feels premature. I think Solo Sikoa retains, but Fatu’s eventual vengence is coming. The real question is: does anyone still care about this version of The Bloodline?

WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event 2024 Predictions & Results

For once, Saturday Night’s Main Event doesn’t feel like an afterthought. The matches have stakes, the stories have depth, and the outcomes could ripple into SummerSlam. That’s a win in itself. WWE could’ve easily phoned this in, but instead, they’ve given us a reason to tune in.

Goldberg’s last stand, Rollins’ potential cash-in, Drew’s resurgence, all of it adds up to a show that might actually mean something. Whether WWE capitalizes on that momentum remains to be seen, but for now, I’m intrigued.

So, will tonight deliver? If the booking follows through, absolutely. But even if it doesn’t, the fact that we’re talking about SNME like it matters is a victory in itself. Tune in at 8 PM, this one might surprise you.
