SDCC Schedule

Saturday

By Alexandrea CallaghanPublished 2 years ago 3 min read

Saturday is probably going to be the biggest and busiest day of San Diego Comic Con. Most people that bought single day passes bought them for Saturday and it is routinely the first day that sells out. I am personally not setting foot in any of the bigger halls on Saturday so I am hoping that everything that I want to hit will be easier to get into. That said I am also hoping that I left myself enough time to get in line for the things that I think are important. I think I have figured out a strategy for these bigger conventions so let’s get to my Saturday schedule for SDCC.

I do believe the trick is finding rooms that have multiple panels that you want to see and just camping out there. For Saturday that room is 6DE and we are starting with celebrating 50 years of Dungeons and Dragons. This segues perfectly into some of your favorite D&D podcasters talking about how to make D&D fun to listen to (Iffy is going to be there and as a huge DropoutTV fan I am very excited). Then we are talking about the DC multiverse and then we are talking about Gotham City and its inhabitants. 4 panels back to back in the same room taking me from 10:00AM to 2:45PM and all I have to do is find a good seat and stay there.

Then we will be heading across the street to the San Diego Library and we are talking about The Once and Future King. Yet another retelling of Aurthurian Legend. I don’t care how many there have been, I will eat it up every single time. I love King Arthur stories, you can’t even count how many times I have seen Merlin. I can’t wait for another book. This starts at the library at 4:00PM so I should have plenty of time to get there. It is about a 15 minute walk from the convention center, but the convention center is about a 15 minute walk from the convention center. So really it will come down to how much energy do I have left by this point. I am hoping that I plan well enough that this con is mostly sitting and not walking back and forth.

And last but not least I will be closing out Saturday with one last panel, Earthlight: The Making of an Audiobook Original. Patrick and I have been getting into more audiobooks and I finally have full control over my car back so hopefully I can find something worth listening to. This starts at 8:00PM so I really shouldn’t have any trouble getting into this panel. Even in an overpacked convention I really don’t think I will have to be in line 3 hours early.

I am going over the schedule and coming up with backup plans just in case I can’t get into a specific panel or I simply don’t feel like I can walk to some of the offsite things. These are going to be really long days for my chronically ill body so I am trying to minimize my walking around. There is a lot to the smaller panels so I am excited to see what new things I can discover from these. I am probably not going to make my way to the exhibit floor until Sunday but I will definitely be coming home with some new comics, we will see how many I can afford. If you happen to be going to SDCC I also have some comics to give away!
