Sad Truth about Why Tiwa Savage Left Social Media, No Longer Has a Phone or Phone Number.
It's very surprising.

It's very surprising.
To be one of the biggest musicians in a country, one of the biggest celebrities, one of the biggest influencers on social media, and not even be on social media anymore or even have a phone or phone number to be reached...it's surprising. It's very surprising.
But that is the reality of Nigerian superstar singer Tiwa Savage who really truly no longer has a phone, a phone number, and is no longer on social media.
In an interview with Glamour Magazine South Africa which the self-proclaimed Number 1 African Bad Girl covered last month, she made the startling revelation.

When asked by the Glamour Magazine reporter, “You’re one of the most followed African women on social media. How do you use social media to your advantage?” I don’t think even the reporter was expecting the answer that followed.
Tiwa responded:
It’s a blessing to have the platform and followers I have. Social media is such a powerful tool, so I’m going to tell you a little secret: I’m no longer on social media, but I have a team that runs my accounts.

Shocking! I know. I too was very surprised when I read that revelation.
But, it didn’t end there. Further on in the magazine, she went on to reveal another piece of surprising information when asked to list 5 fun facts about herself.
The number 3 fun fact she listed about herself was:
I no longer have a phone or number.

WHAT?!
How can by far one of the biggest Nigerian acts in music not have a phone, phone number, and no longer be on social media herself? I had to dig and this is the sad truth why.

WHY TIWA SAVAGE LEFT.

This magazine spread and interview came out on February 22nd, 2021. Prior to that, a couple of significant things happened which undoubtedly pushed Tiwa Savage away from social media.
One was the whole bruhaha about Beyonce during the #EndSARS protest. Recall that during the #EndSARS protest, Tiwa was under wild fire and mass scrutiny after making a heartfelt plea and cry about Nigeria and the injustices happening in the country to her mass of over 12 million followers. In that plea, she called out a number of American celebrities asking for help in any way they could, even if just to bring awareness to the situation at hand. One of the celebrities she mentioned was Beyonce. This caused a whole internet storm to come down on her, and even Beyonce’s mother in a statement subtly called out Tiwa for the video. It was a lot.

Two was when a Pulse TV journalist called her a “failing brand” and she went on to have an explosive exchange with him on Twitter

And then the final straw came after she posted a video of a moment during her trip with her son Jamil when his father, her ex-husband TeeBillz came in to surprise him. That was a personal piece of information she shared unto social media and almost immediately, she was hit back with people telling her their thoughts on their life and marriage, that the scene was all fake, that a child deserves a father and mother, etc.

This trip became the last real bit of posting Tiwa actually did on her Instagram. Since then, the only posts she has made on her social media have been advertisements for Twisco of which she is a brand ambassador, promotion for her music, and eventually the Glamour Magazine announcement which was the last thing she posted for about a month, before posting another Twisco advertisement 4 days ago.

This is a Tiwa Savage who last year was constantly going live on Instagram, tweeting, posting. To go from all of that to this is pretty heartbreaking and as a fan, I hope she returns to social media herself to interact with we the fans. I’d understand if she doesn’t cuz celebrity life cannot be easy but I hope she does.
(All of this and maybe the simplest reason she left is just because as she said in the Glamour Magazine interview, “I’m a loner.”)

That’s All.
