Rumors continue that Y&R alum Rory Gibson will join General Hospital as Michael Corinthos
Chyad Duell's exit has fans speculating and spoilers working overtime.

Has Michael Corinthos been recast?
The rumor mill, spoilers, and some fans insist that Rory Gibson will take over the role of Michael Corinthos on General Hospital. Gibson portrayed Noah Newman on The Young and the Restless from 2021 to 2023 and was in Rebel Moon Part One: A Child of Fire in 2023. There has been no official confirmation about a recast, so let's look at how we got here.
Ever since Chad Duell exited his role as Michael, there has been speculation about what will happen with the character. Duell says the role has been left open, but he has not indicated he will return anytime soon, and it's been close to six months since his departure.
Rory Gibson or Robert Adamson?
Michael is mentioned often, and Willow Corinthos (Katelynn MacMullen) recently attempted to visit him in Germany. Robert Adamson, who also portrayed Noah Newman on The Young and the Restless from 2012-2020, stepped in as Michael on three occasions to replace Duell.
He recently posted on social media that he was disappointed the GH execs did not call him in to read for the role permanently. This led to speculation that a recast was in the works. Gibson also stated that he had been given short notice each time he filled in for Duel, but rose to the occasion. The post has since been removed.
Why is Rory Gibson being mentioned?
Why do General Hospital fans believe Gibson has been chosen to portray Michael? On social media, he is following MacMullen, who portrays Michael's wife, so fans assume he has joined the GH cast. He is also following Holly Gagnier (Jennifer Smith), an acting coach on GH. Both women are said to be following him as well.
An article from TV Spoilers states that Gibson has signed a three-year contract with General Hospital, but no other news outlets have reported this information. Many fake news sites are online, so soap fans must be careful when verifying what they read.
Is the Rory information fake news?
This news could be trustworthy because soaps do keep some things private. The Young and the Restless recently announced the departure of Alison Lanier (Summer Newman) only two days before her last episode.
Fans had no idea but did notice the character had been a bystander in Genoa City for the past few months. Still, the fact that no other news outlets are reporting this information should be taken into consideration.
Michael has unfinished business in Port Charles
The character cannot remain hospitalized indefinitely, and Michael needs to recover from his burns and return to Genoa City. He needs to handle his divorce and confront Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison). Drew paid a nurse at the German clinic to lie that Michael did not want to see Willow, so this needs to come to light.
Michael must also decide what to do about Sasha Gilmore (Sophia Mattsson), who is pregnant with his baby. Everyone in Genoa City believes the unborn child belongs to Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), and the truth will eventually come to light.
Time will tell all
Mattson is pregnant with her third child and has not been on screen for a while. She may have gone on maternity leave and will be away for a few months. May sweeps and the Nurses Ball are upon us. There is no telling what will be revealed beginning the week that starts on May 20.
General Hospital fans can only watch and wait to find out if Chad Duell returns to Port Charles or if Michael is replaced. Stay tuned for updates related to whether Rory Gibson or someone else has taken on the role.
