SYNOPSIS

In a world divided by the blood of silver super human beings, and reds meant to serve them, there lies some red blooded beings, who can control mighty powers. Some more dangerous then those of the silvers. In the midst of this chaos we find a young, daring Mare Burrow. Who moves to the silver society, in a desperate attempt to blend in. Our young heroin in this tale, can control lightning, well, all things electricity actually. Every day she is there, she risks exposure. Should they find out, the silvers would surely rip her apart. Can Mare make it through?

WHAT I LIKED

I am a very picky reader and I absolutely loved this book. It not only had action and a sad backstory (life can't be all butterflies and rainbows), but maybe even a small love story in the making. Yes, something like, Suzanne Collins' The Hunger Games for example. This particular book had it all. I couldn't put it down. The world building was impressive. When mentioning other forms of governments through this dystopian world, she gave descriptions of the entire layout. Whole countries, such as Piedmont, and the Lakelands. It was as if i could see a clear map of them. As clear as i see the US. She spoke of wars and treaties. The soldiers who fought them. All in all, i have to admit, this fictional world is one of my personal favorites.

Now, I'll admit, I am a sucker for a good quote. Not to mention the characters who say them. When creating these characters, she was very careful to give all such a unique personality as well as a different perspective on life. Anywhere from Evangeline Samos having a need to rule, willing to do anything to get there, to Mare Barrow wanting nothing more then equality and better living conditions for the other side of the fence. Every emotion the characters in her world feel is so vivid, you go through them as well. I laughed, raged, and even cried with each of them. And to me that is the best type of story. But i must admit, there were a few quotes in this one that sent chills up my spine. Quotes such as Mare Barrows, "The gods rule us still. They have come down from the stars. And they are no longer kind." Or even Prince Maven Calore's, "The truth is what i make it. I could set the world on fire and call it rain." That is just to name a few.

What is a story without a plot? It doesn't exist. The plot in this particular story seems to just thicken with every new chapter you read. It keeps you on the edge of your seat. Simply wondering if Mare Barrow will be discovered as the red she truly is behind enemy lines, or, if they will find a way to use her voice to make the other reds kneel. And i can truly say, the road this particular plot takes you down, is one you will least expect. I am still baffled by it. Man. Do i love a twisted

WILL THIS BOOK BE OUR NEXT OBSESSION?

Absolutely! I am in love with this series and can not wait to read more! I am so excited to follow the adventure of Mare barrow and her quest for equality for silvers and reds, and whatever she is alike. A world with peace. Can you imagine such a thing? Now that is the true fantasy.

RATING

Overall i would definitely say this book deserves a 5 out of 5 star rating from me. This book had everything i could ask for. There was not a single dull moment, and i hope you enjoy the work of Victoria Aveyard as much as i did.
