Shekhawat's death

Why did Shekhawat burn himself with fake sandalwood?

The entire conversation between Shekhawat and his disciple is shown in the Reloaded Version when Pushpa changes the CM and completes the deal in Japan.

So Shekhawat found a clever way to defeat him because it would have been impossible to tell the difference between the burnt wood, which is red sandalwood, and which is fake sandalwood.
