My boyfriend is a tv fan, when not working, he is in front of a screen, hypnotized by sports, series and movies. When we moved in together, he was proud to bring both of his big screen tvs.
Me, I am more of a ‘always outside feeling the sun shine’ kinda girl. Once in a blue moon, I’d watch a movie or start a serie on my laptop. Before moving in with him, I hadn’t had a real, physical tv in 10 years.
What a clash... but, love over everything.
At first, all the shows he made me watch quickly lost my interest, he was getting desperated .
Then, he proposed to watch The Preacher.
I couldn’t stop binging, even when the sun was shining.
I was in love with all of it, the script, the setting, the dialogue, and Tulip, specially Tulip, she lit up my fire.
I had so many questions, who wrote this killer piece of entertainment, what kind of fantastic, creative, amazing mind would come up with this?
Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, legendary 90s comic book creators did, until them, I did not believe in heroes.
This hard, earthy world needs this kind of fun, smart and supernatural.
Seth Rogen, Sam Catlin (Beaking Bad) and Evan Goldberg (Superbad) turned the creation into a screening pleasure.
Within minutes of watching, I was own.
The Preacher made laugh, cry, angry, disgusted, happy and, root for the right people.
The right people being the good hearted rebels, killers and lovers.
Enough to catch the attention of a girl who’d rather be outside.
Its genre, a supernatural, action adventure, black comedy filled all my expectations of tv entertainment.
It had great visuals.
It brought me outside of my thinking box.
Its characters were perfectly flawed, funny and relatable.
The cast was brilliant.
Dominic Cooper makes the perfect Jesse Custer, a bad boy turned preacher whose sole desire is to make the world a better place, but, not before a little revenge.
Joe Gilgun, as Cassidy, an alcoholic and drug addict Irish Vampire. I always love myself a vampire, unlike most vampires Cassidy is careless, thoughtless and weak, bringing a human touch to the story.
Ruth Negga is Tulip O’Hare, Jesse’s hell raising ex-girlfriend, with her bad girl ways and her sniper skills, she shot a bullet straight to my heart.
The themes of anti-religion, life after death, friendship and the almighty true love are well played.
I wanted Preacher to last forever.
For a while, I got desesperate, nothing else caught my attention.
Then, came American Gods.
Here again, supernatural action driven entertainment with irresistable characters.
I had the same questions, who dunnit, who brought it to our screens, who incarnated it?
Neil Gaiman, also popular in the 90s comic book world, wrote American Gods, the novel.
Two greatly talented minds are the script writers, Bryan Fuller (Dead like me, Pushing Daisies) and Michael Green (Logan, Blade Runner 2049).
American Gods is intriguing, sexy and dark.
I love the metaphorical representation of what most modern Americans worship, technology and media, coming to head with older Gods, knowledge and wisdom.
The fire is back.
Why?
The ambiance totally gets me, its fantasy opens my mind and the characters are inviting.
Ricky Whittle is Shadow Moon, a broken hearted ex-con who doesn’t know what to do with his new freedom.
Ian McShane, Mr. Wednesday, is a devilish old god.
Emily Browning is Laura Moon, Shadow’s girlfriend who falls in love with him only when its too late.
Even though I’ve only just started to watch it, (better late then never), American Gods is a delight I can't go without, even on sunny days.
About the Creator

I love nature, sunshine, greens and fire
