Oprah Finally Gets Interview with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

According to Page Six, Oprah Winfrey courted her friends, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, for three whole years before she was able to get an exclusive interview with them. The public knows most of what has gone on in the couple's lives since they stepped down from being senior royals and moved to the United States. However, it will be good to hear the details coming directly from them.

Prime Time Interview

CBS announced Oprah's good news on Monday, February 15, 2021. Oprah With Meghan and Harry: A CBS Primetime Special will air on March 7, 2021. Actually, the 90-minute interview will be the first televised one since the couple's engagement in 2017. The day of the special is coming just a week after the end of the one-year trial period for the Sussexes’ split from their royal duties. Also, it will be a month after Prince Harry and Meghan's announcement of having a second baby.

Oprah's interview will cover a variety of topics including many things that have happened in their lives since their move to the United States and the events leading up to them making that big decision.

Meghan, 39, is expected to talk to Oprah without Harry about motherhood, her miscarriage last year, and news about expecting a second baby. Prince Harry, 36, will join the interview later to share his thoughts about being a father and other things that are going on with him and his family.

Oprah's Reaction

Over the years, Oprah has interviewed thousands of people from all walks of life. However, this is one of the interviews she really wanted. She is extremely happy and honored that she has finally landed this interview.

A statement was posted on Meghan's official Instagram page from Oprah Magazine and CBS that read: "Winfrey will speak with Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex, in a wide-ranging interview, covering everything from stepping into life as a Royal, marriage, motherhood, philanthropic work to how she is handling life under intense public pressure. Later, the two are joined by Prince Harry as they speak about their move to the United States and their future hopes and dreams for their expanding family."

Oprah's Relationship with the Couple

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Oprah are friends and neighbors in Montecito, California. The television mogul attended the couple's wedding at Windsor Castle in May 2018. The 67-year-old talk show host is also working on a a mental health docuseries for Apple TV+ with Prince Harry.

Reaction from the Royal Family

Since the plans for the interview were a secret, the Royal Family and the public found out about the interview at the same time when the news was posted on Twitter. The UK Times reported the interview will open old wounds and will be a reminder of rumors the public had about rifts between Prince Harry and his older brother, Prince William.

Page Six reported that Prince William, 38, is concerned about the tell-all interview because he doesn't know what the Sussexes will say that might adversely affect him and his wife, the Duchess of Cambridge, as well as other members of the Royal Family.

Oprah's best friend Gayle King said on CBS This Morning, "I know she's been working on the questions all weekend long. I'm told nothing is off-limits." That means the veteran interviewer has permission to ask the Duke and Duchess of Sussex anything she wants.
