“Wetin be this 🙆‍♀️ ”

The COVID-19 pandemic completely shook up and transformed the ENTIRE world last year and is still affecting us till this day. It is no surprise that as creatives, artistes would want to write and create movies and stories about these times and as a result, we’ve seen a number of songs, movies, and books already come out about the COVID-19 pandemic.

Most popularly in the United States of America, we saw the movie Songbird come out starring big Hollywood names including KJ Apa, Sofia Carson, and more about the story of a courier who was immune to ‘COVID-23’ and his race to save the woman he loved from a quarantine camp.

We also saw the Anne Hathaway led project Locked Down which came out in January of 2021 about a couple who decided to separate but then because of the lockdown were forced to stay at home together. Even in television, we’re now beginning to see storylines about COVID-19 or reference to the pandemic popping up in a number of shows across the world including Canada’s own Workin’ Moms.

Now, Nigeria is taking our turn at it and upon the release of the trailer, the reactions from Nigerians are already mixed. Let’s get into all of it after you like my Facebook page below.

Nigerians were met by quite the surprise when Nollywood icon and legend, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, posted a trailer of an upcoming Nollywood movie titled Lockdown unto her social media page.

The Moses Inwang film starring heavyweight names like Omotola herself, Chioma Akpotha, Sola Sobowale, Yomi Black, and more is scheduled to come out in May of 2021.

Here is the full movie trailer as posted by Omotola.

Upon seeing the movie trailer, Nigerians were quick to come back with their responses and first thoughts about the trailer and expectations for the movie itself.

Nigerian actress and socialite, Temi Otedola wrote:

Well, you can’t please everybody. Personally, I’m really excited about the movie and cannot wait to see what Nigerian film makers serve us up about this COVID-19 pandemic. I hope the story is good. The cast is already a stellar one filled with big names from Sola Sobowale to Peter Okoye of P-Square. I cannot wait for it.

Now it’s time for me to turn it over to you. How are you feeling about the upcoming Lockdown movie? Are you excited and will you be watching or do you think it’s going to be a mess and you won’t be going? Let me know by dropping a vote in the poll below.
