My Review of "Lupin: Part II"
Thank you Netflix for not making us wait forever for this second part.

Lupin: Part II is the second half of the season one. With so many TV shows under its belt, Netflix has to make some tough decisions when green lighting shows. Some shows don't get to continue and end off with cliffhangers. Lupin is a little different from the rest. It had us all hooked from the very beginning. It was inevitable that the second part was going to come out but who knew it would come out so soon.
This part starts off just where the last episode of part I ended. Assane and Claire's son Raoul has been kidnapped. Guedira has figured out that Assane is the infamous burglar that the he and his fellow police officers have been looking for. It was a beautifully set up cliffhanger that had me dying to know what happened.
The first part introduced us to the key players and gave us a good understanding where everyone fit into this TV show's puzzle. We were enamored by Assane as he epitomizes the gentleman burglar that he idolizes. He's always ten steps ahead of his adversaries and that's what made the first part so engaging.
Luckily for us, not much has changed. The tone and atmosphere of the first part is all here in the second along with the charm of Assane's character. In some ways the tension isn't quite as alarming as the first part because I've become somewhat acclimatized to the way Assane thinks in this show. There are some fun reveals the occur in this second part of the season however I don't feel they were as strong as the first part.
I found that there were some things that happened in this second part. On occasion some of the reveals were a little far fetched. They kind of made it almost cartoon like in how Assane gets away with some of the crazier situations. Maybe this is just a matter of me being desensitized from the first part of the season. This also kind of translates to some of the spectacular moments in the show. Although it was great there's a bit of been there done that moment that lingered.
That's not to say that this second part isn't entertaining. It was absolutely engaging. Those that did not see the first part will definitely need to see it before going onto this second part. It's pretty much a requirement. I also think that those that haven't seen the series yet are in for a better experience as us early adopters had to wait a few months in order to see this second part of the season.
There were times in this part that made me have to recollect what had happened in the first part. First time viewers will enjoy the full season in one fluid watching whereas the people that had watched the first season a few months ago may need to have a refresher to understand what had happened.
Still, this second part doesn't disappoint. There are tons of fun scenarios that Assane gets involved with and some people finally get what they deserve. I think if you're a fan of the show you'll definitely appreciate the ending. They couldn't have ended this season off any better. In addition, they mention at the end that there will be a Lupin: Part III. I for one am eager to watch that third part.
In a way the season kind of ends off like John Wick: Chapter 2. The coincidence is pretty uncanny. I was wondering what was to become of Assane and his friends. A lot has changed so the third part has a lot of possibilities. It's open ended but the season does end off pretty clean and tidy that we're not desperately wondering what happens to Assane.
Overall, I really liked this season and was pleasantly surprised it came so soon. I was worried that it wouldn't come for another year or two. If that was the case I probably would have had to rewatch the first part all over again. Luckily their timing was impeccable. I have to give this part a 7.5 out of 10. This Lupin season is something I will be recommending to many of my friends. The second part isn't quite as strong as the first but it makes up for that with a great conclusion.
