MIMARU Hotel's Pokémon Rooms Get a New, Even More Magical Renovation!
MIMARU's Pokémon-Themed Rooms Arrive with a New, More Fun Concept for Families and Game-Loving Travelers

Japanese hotel chain MIMARU has officially announced the renovation and expansion of its highly popular Pokémon rooms, offering a more immersive and enjoyable stay for Pokémon fans from around the world. First launched in 2019, these themed rooms have captivated guests with their captivating Pokémon decor.
Designed to transport guests directly into the world of Pokémon, the new and improved Pokémon Rooms are now available at 10 MIMARU locations in the major Japanese cities of Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka. These include exciting additions like MIMARU TOKYO HATCHOBORI and MIMARU TOKYO IKEBUKURO, bringing unique experiences to even more travelers.
Unlike typical hotel accommodations, MIMARU offers apartment-style accommodations with spacious layouts, fully equipped kitchens, and dining areas—perfect for families. The Pokémon Room has always stood out for its cheerful and vibrant design, but this latest update brings two key themes to the table: “more Pokémon” and “more fun for the whole family.”
Each newly designed room features approximately 100 different Pokémon, adorning everything from the walls to the furniture, even the kitchen and bathroom. It feels as if Pokémon have jumped out of their Pokéballs to live with guests.
The bathroom has been transformed into a tranquil aquatic zone filled with Water-type Pokémon, while the kitchen celebrates Pokémon that love food, providing a delightful backdrop for family meals.
The main attraction of the Pokémon Room remains the giant Snorlax plushie that lounges atop the space, becoming a beloved symbol of the experience and a must-photograph feature for all guests.
The Pokémon theme extends beyond the decor to every aspect of the accommodation. Each room features a specially designed Pokémon Room dining table, Pokéball-themed tableware (plates and mugs), and decorative bed linens, ensuring guests remain immersed in the world of Pokémon—even while dining.
In addition to updated interior elements, the Pokémon Room experience is now designed to be more interactive. Children can explore every corner of the room while discovering hidden Pokémon characters, while adult fans can enjoy nostalgic design details, from the wall motifs to illustrations of both old and new generations of characters. This atmosphere makes the room more than just a place to rest, but also a space for family play and exploration.
MIMARU also emphasizes that the renovation concept aims to create a comfortable space for international guests. The room layout remains spacious and welcoming for groups of travelers or multigenerational families, with separate sleeping areas, gathering spaces, and kitchen facilities that allow guests to prepare their own meals—something rarely found in conventional hotels in Japan.
As part of the exclusive experience, every guest staying in the Pokémon Room will receive special-edition merchandise available only at MIMARU. These souvenirs typically include a themed fabric bag and Pokémon collectible cards, making them a sentimental travel memento for many guests. Many guests have even described the experience as feeling like “staying in the Pokémon world” rather than simply staying in a hotel.
The hotel's strategic location is also a plus. Most MIMARU properties are located near popular tourist areas, shopping centers, and major transportation routes, making it easy for guests to explore the city during the day before returning to their Pokémon-themed room at night. This makes MIMARU a favorite choice for families, otaku travelers, and fans of Japanese pop culture looking for a different experience.
The hotel reports that guest response to the renovation has been very positive, with bookings from both domestic and international travelers increasing. Many families choose the Pokémon Room as part of a children's vacation, while young couples and longtime Pokémon fans see it as a delightful nostalgic experience.
With this renovation, MIMARU has not only maintained the popular themed room concept but has also successfully enhanced the experience while expanding its guest base. The combination of warm design, characterful decor, and family-friendly amenities makes the Pokémon Room feel even more “alive” — providing moments that are not only fun to photograph, but also memorable to remember long after the trip is over.
