Meet Walter in New 'Alien: Covenant' Video
An 'Alien: Covenant' promo video provides us with an in-depth look at Michael Fassbender in his new role as Walter.

(WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Alien: Covenant and Prometheus.)
The latest promotional video to be released for Alien: Covenant provides us with an in-depth look at #MichaelFassbender in his new role as Walter. Fassbender previously played a different synthetic android known as David-8 in #Prometheus. Now, he's returned to become the face of a new line of androids that go by the model name, Walter. For a full look into the making of Walter, check out the video below.
This new video — that we can only describe as a "Making-of-Walter" type of clip — is quite in-depth for the mythology built around androids in the #Alien universe. Most science fiction universes that use androids in their stories tend to stay away from fully exploring the creation of an android, but Alien: Covenant doesn't shy away from that aspect in the least.

As you can see in the video, Walter's birthing process consists of several well-timed phases that bring the android into creation. In the first stage, Walter is merely a torso, who's then equipped with extremities, a head and a layer of skin tissue to give it a human appearance. Once the process is complete, he's then wiped down and prepped to fulfill his purpose: to serve.

How will Walter differ from his predecessor, David-8?
We don't get to see much of it in the new video, so there's no way to tell if Walter shares similar outlooks to the altruistic David-8. Although, it's fair to assume that Walter will be much like his predecessor since they're essentially the same character.
Something else to take note of was how this promotional video for Alien: Covenant was awfully similar to the promotional video released for Prometheus, wherein David-8 attempts to sell you on buying one of the David-8 androids. Check out the video below:
Considering how both of these videos are attempting to highlight and emphasize the importance of synthetic androids in the Alien universe, it seems like Fassbender is going to be at the center of yet another Alien movie.
Nonetheless, it'll be interesting to see how Walter differs from David-8. They're both synthetic androids with similar programming but with one being a more advanced model then the other, that difference will become deftly apparent when #AlienCovenant premieres.
Alien: Covenant premiered May 19, 2017. Check out your own Walter at MeetWalter.com
