McDonald's customers are boycotting the Golden Arches for a number of reasons

COVID led to declining sales, and now other problems have surfaced, leading to a decrease in revenue.

Americans stand up for their rights

Americans appear to have the attitude of the song by Twisit Sister "We're' Not Gonna Take it Anymore" when it comes to corporate greed. McDonald's restaurant chain is the latest corporation facing losing more money and customers as new allegations are revealed.

The People's Union USA, founded by John Swartz is calling for a boycott for three specific reasons. Mickey D's is accused of using loopholes to pay less taxes than its employees, and of extreme price hikes for the products being sold.

A third reason called out by Swartz is that McDonald's is anit labor union. The fourth reason is that McDonald's is accused of exploiting “global supply chains and environmental loopholes” as its supply chain is connected to “deforestation, poor labor conditions, and unsustainable agricultural practices.”

These are serious allegations, and the fifth reason, according to Shultz, is that the company likes to “perform DEI for the cameras but fund the opposite." Since February, The People's Union USA, successfully led boycotts, AKA economic blackouts of Target, Amazon, and Walmart. Target lost billions, but there are also reports that Pastor Jamaal Bryant was behind African Americans boycotting the retail giant.

McDonald's is being targeted

McDonald's is also being accused of substandard meals and has been losing money since Covid, like many other restaurant chains. Across the nation, eateries have been shuttered and employees out of work as prices rise and Americans choose where to spend their money.

According to a recent survey from CLYDE/Ipsos, 53% of Americans said that if a company takes a stand on an issue they disagree with, they are less likely to buy their products or use their services.

It is becoming the norm in America for citizens to protest by not shopping at stores where they believe they are not being treated properly. US citizens are tired of corporate greed while they have to tighten their spending. No one knows how long this trend will last, but McDonald's executives should learn a lesson from what happened to Target.

Mickey D's used to be the place to get away when you needed a break. Ronald McDonald and his cast of characters, and the McDonald's playhouse for kids, were popular. Big Mac's, Quarter Pounders, and the famous Fench fries were go-to items.

Americans are not taking disrespect lying down

Life today is different, the work ethic is different and Covid played a role in where Americans are currently. There was a time when CEO's wanted to please the customers, but more and more stories are being told of corporate greed where the bottom line is valued over those who keep the money coming in.

Boycotts are a way for the American people to have their voices heard. My grandmother and those of her generation used to say "If you can't hear, you are going to feel>" If McDonald's and other big corporations don't heed teh cries of the people they are going to feel the pain where it hurts most-in their wallets.

Across the board I am listening to those who say the people in charge of corporate America today do not have the same values and work ethics of their predecessors.

The men behind Chic-Fi-A, Heinz, Kraft and other beloved brands were men of ethics. They believed in having Sunday off because most Americans worshipped on the first day of the week. They gave 10 percent of their earnings to their houses of worship or charities and treated their employees like family.

Treat people as you want to be treated

No business that treats employees and customers with a lack of respect can expect to reap a harvest of profits. When people speak by withholding their hard-earned dollars, it's time to listen to what they are saying. I once heard a statistic that indicated that no one who is a billionaire earned their money legitimately and without hurting people along the way.

This is not necessarily true, but it could be in many situations. The Golden Rule should be applied: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Instead, the adage "Do unto others, then split" seems to be the motto of the day. Thankfully, Americans are fighting back by withholding their money.
