Five Shows That Ended Too Soon
I've finished a number of shows recently, gone to see when the next season came out, and been horrified to see they've been cancelled. There are so many great shows that get cut before they really get a chance to shine, so many characters who don't get developed like they should, and so many plots undiscovered. Very few shows that end too soon get a good chance to wrap up the series in a miniseries event or movie and even if they get that chance it's not the same and almost never satisfactory. I've made a list of five shows that I personally think deserved a better wrap up.

Batman Fights Dracula
I was online the other day reading about Gloria Swanson when I came across a note that at the time of her death, she wanted to watch a particular movie she was in, but because it was a lost movie she couldn't. Of course, the wording stuck me as odd. Did she lose her copy? Couldn't she just borrow one? What did it mean that the movie was "lost?" Movies don't simply disappear? So I started researching it; turns out they do. There are laws now that every movie made must be put in at least two separate temperature-controlled safe spaces in order to combat this, but in the early film days there were no such rules. Because of the high flammability of film during the beginnings of cinema, a good deal of films would combust, causing massive fires and destroying whole archives of movies.

'Doctor Who' Announce Series 11 Writers and Directors Ahead of the Autumn Premiere
New Doctor announced—Check. New companions announced—Check. San-Diego Comic-Con—Check. Adding onto that list, the BBC have finally revealed who is writing for the new series, which will premiere this autumn. Series 11 of Doctor Who sees the show's first ever female Doctor, who is to be played by Jodie Whittaker. The Doctor will team up with new faces, Graham (Bradley Walsh), Ryan (Tosin Cole) and Yasmin (Mandip Gill) as they travel to new world and meet all-new monsters. But, they're not the only new faces to Doctor Who, as the confirmed writers and directors for the fast approaching series have never worked on the show before, excluding Chibnall.

Why Shows like 'Returning the Favor' Give Hope
Like many other people, I have been known to scroll through my Facebook feed and click on videos that I find interesting, informative, or funny. One day earlier this summer, I was drawn to a video tagged Returning The Favor. I had no idea what the video would be about, and in all honesty, the video's subject escapes me while writing this. I suppose it doesn't really matter, as I wait eagerly for the next instalment of the show to drop on Facebook Watch. At the time, I saw that Mike Rowe from Dirty Jobs was involved, so I was in. I've always liked him, so I was curious about what would draw him to a show on Facebook Watch.

'BlacKkKlansman' Movie Review
The story of Ron Stallworth in BlacKkKlansman is absolutely insane. Midway through the film, I forgot that these things really happened because everything about it seems so surreal. Spike Lee has had a wildly inconsistent career. You don't know whether his next film will be a radical, powerful masterpiece (Do The Right Thing), a monumental failure (his Oldboy remake) or an alright experiment (Chi-Raq). The fact that he received the Grand Prix at the 2018 Cannes film festival for his newest film BlacKkKlansman confirmed that perhaps this could be in the same vein as Do The Right Thing. Is it radical? Yes. Is it powerful? At times. Is it a masterpiece? Sadly, no. I found this film to be very entertaining and thought-provoking like Lee's best work, but it fell short of greatness due to it being extremely simplistic in its display of the KKK or why racism exists in this country. The conversation stops at racism is bad and racists are dumb republicans. I wanted to see something deeper as to why this hate is alive and well, but I didn't get that.

Back in Black: 10 Actors Who Could Play Penguin in 'The Batman'. Top Story - August 2018.
DC Comics fans have been waiting with baited breath for any kind of news to come out Matt Reeves' upcoming project The Batman, yet it looks like most of its production is going to be kept under wraps. It seems like we see a different news story each week about Ben Affleck not being in the movie, or Reeves casting for a younger Batman, but the truth is we just don't know what is happening behind the scenes. What we do seem to know for a fact is that The Dark Knight's infamous foe The Penguin is going to be the main antagonist of the movie, and with such a quirky character being the villain, you need the right kind of actor to play him. I believe I have a few likely candidates, and I hope you agree!

Looking Forward to Carnage vs. Venom
There were two things in “superhero” film that I hoped to see from my first viewing of Spider-Man in theaters in 2002: a movie with Venom as the main character, and a movie with Carnage as the villain. The animated Spider-Man series of the 90s did a very good job of endearing Peter Parker and his serial allies and enemies to me in my formative years, but none stick out so clearly in my memory as Carnage and Venom. Now, while this may be because in my adolescence and indeed into adulthood I have been something of an “edgelord” I prefer to believe that my affinity for Carnage stems from the epic finale of 2000 Nintendo 64 Spider-Man game, where Spidey and Venom must throw-down with Doctor Octopus and Carnage, before culminating in an adrenaline pumping chase scene with “Monster Ock,” the terrifying combination of Doctor Octopus and the Carnage symbiote.

Character Spotlight: John Constantine
I grew up with a mother who was into going to church so we couldn't watch The Exorcist or anything like that, but, during the summer of 2005, I woke up one morning and saw that my parents went to Hollywood Video because anytime they go to buy movies, they usually end up on the floor, but, if they rent, they leave rented movies on top of the TV. Anyway, they bought a few movies but rented one, Constantine with Keanu Reeves, and I wanted to watch it, but I had summer school.
