STORYLINE: And Then There Were Five (5):

Meet the fabulous four. Initially, the team at the Kyungmin Law Firm is comprised of four lawyers:

(1) Ahn Joo-hyung: his colleagues think he's emotionally detached, and they're not wrong. He believes a lawyer should be unemotional and logic-driven when approaching a case. There's no place for sympathy, empathy, compassion, and those kinds of emotions. Just apply the letter of the law. He has worked at the same law firm for nine (9) years, and his method is proven. It's straightforward, simple, and he can conclude a case quickly. Additionally, even though he's a valuable employee of the firm, deserving of a promotion, he has no desire to advance up the career ladder or start his own law firm. Why should he? His life is comfortable.

(2) Bae Moon-jung: has worked at the same law firm for eight (8) years and is the team leader. If interacting with her personally, she's sweet, kind-hearted, and delightful. But professionally, i.e., in the courtroom, she's fierce and ferocious! She must win the case… every time!

(3) Kang Sang-ki: being a lawyer is an extremely stressful job, but when the money rolls in, it's all worth it. Anyway, he has a great stress reliever. He publishes a blog about FOOD! It's very popular.

(4) Jo Chang-won: the idealistic rookie, who idolizes Ahn Joo-hyung. It's an honor to be in the company of the other three (3) lawyers. He knows he'll learn a lot and become a fine lawyer himself … one day.

Meet member number five (5).

The professional and personal dynamics of the fabulous fighting four (4) shift when Kang Hee-ji, lawyer number 5, joins their team. Professionally, the fabulous four have a reputation for being excellent attorneys, and Kang Hee-ji is excited about joining them. She brings passion “to the table”. Her approach to court cases includes the practical and logical application of the law, but her mission is to change lives through law. In other words, for her, every case is an emotional investment, and she genuinely believes the just and righteous application of the law can change the world for the better. Yep. She's an idealistic crusader, the opposite of Ahn Joo-hyung. Will their lawyering styles complement or clash?

Personally, Kang Hee-ji has another reason for being excited. She is looking forward to a happy reunion with Ahn Joo-hyung. Several years back, they had a very “unprofessional”, private, intimate relationship, but he disappeared from her life. She assumed he would be equally happy to see her. However, when she introduced herself, Ahn Joo-hyung said she must be mistaken, as he had never met her before in his life. WHAT?? WHY??? His reaction and response are a surprise. Why is he pretending that he doesn't know her?

Ah well! That's a mystery to be solved later. Even though, for reasons unknown, Ahn Joo-hyung is pretending not to know her, the rest of the team is happy to welcome her aboard. It's a new beginning, and for the present, Kang Hee-ji's priority and primary ambition is to be a productive and profitable member of the legal team.
