Kimberly McCoullough may have reversed her decision about returning to 'General Hospital'
The soap vet once said she preferred to work behind the camera and would not work as an actress again. An upcoming tribute to John Reilly however might have changed her mind.

In 2019 it was announced that soap vet Kimberly McCullough would not be returning to her role as Robin Scorpio Drake on the ABC daytime drama General Hospital. Fans were wondering why Robin was not coming back to Port Charles in May for the annual Nurses Ball which came about because of her HIV diagnosis and the death of her boyfriend Stone Cates from AIDS. McCullough announced that she was retiring from acting and instead preferred to work behind the camera as a director. Now it appears she has changed her mind and may reprise her role as Robin in May.
The actress recently gave her social media followers a riddle to which she did not give an answer: "I did something really cool today that involved wearing makeup and heels all day, which I clearly wasn’t prepared for,” “Can anyone guess what this cool thing was?” The assumption is that Kimberly has changed her mind and will return at least once to the ABC daytime drama where she made her home for 35 years from the time she was 7 years old.
General Hospital will be airing a tribute episode in May to celebrate the life of late John Reilly who portrayed Sean Donely on the show for many years. Reilly's daughter Caitlin will appear on the episode playing Annie the daughter of Sean and his wife Tiffany Hill. Some spoilers tease that perhaps it's no coincidence that Detective Chase was poisoned by Peter August the same way Sean almost died after being injected with a lethal substance by Peter's father Cesar Faison.
Sean Donely's daughter was named Anne for Robin's mother Anna and Donely is Robin's godfather. Longtime fans would enjoy seeing flashbacks of the days when Robert, Anna, Sean, and Tiffany were getting into mischief. It would be nice to see Kristina Wagoner return also as Felicia because she and her husband Frisco were also part of the gang. Jack Wagoner returning might be a stretch but he did come back to Port Charles as Frisco for General Hospital's 50th season. It's not clear how the tribute episode will fit in with current situations or what role Anne will play.
This is all speculation at this point, regarding McCullough returning to her ole stomping grounds. Soap fans know, however, that when it comes to the actors on daytime, they often change their minds. Jane Elliot said she was done with General Hospital after close to 40 years but has returned since she retired two years in a row from December till February. Steve Burton who portrays Jason Morgan left GH years ago and said he was done with television and was going to spend time with his family. He later turned up on The Young and the Restless as Dillion Macavoy and later returned to Port Charles as Patient 6 who turned out to be Jason.
Soap stars are human and have a right to change their direction. For this reason, perhaps it would be best if they did not indicate that a decision is final. No air date has been given for the tribute episode for Sean Donely but it will no doubt air during May sweeps. Perhaps General Hospital will have it during the annual Nurses Ball and if McCullough does return this would be the ideal time for her character. Be sure to be on the lookout for updates related to the tribute, the yearly gala, and a possible return of Robin Scorpio Drake.
