Jabot Cosmetic's future in jeopardy on 'The Young and the Restless'

Jabot once reigned supreme in Genoa City

On The Young and the Restless Jabot Cosmetics was founded in the 1960s by John Abbott (Jerry Douglas) and once was a powerful company. The name is derived by using the J for John and adding some of the letters of his last name Abbott. The company is owned by the Abbott family and after John's death, much chaos ensued. The business is currently run by the oldest son Jack (Peter Bergman) and his son Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) who works from Italy. There has been a lot of drama and a few takeovers of this dynasty over the decades and if recent spoiler notifications are accurate there may be more trouble in the near future.

Longtime Y&R viewers will recall the many perils of this family business and the numerous people who tried to take it from the Abbott clan. Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) caused problems on more than one occasion and Gloria Bardwell (Judith Chapman) poisoned one of the face creams and caused a lot of damage. The last big problem prior to Aston Locke (Robert Newman) showing up was Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) running the company with Lauren Baldwin (Tracey Bregman) and Keri Johnson (Alice Hunter) and had voted Jack out.

The Jabot Legacy is in jeopardy

Now that Hunter King (Summer Newman) and Michael Mealor (Kyle Abbott ) have made their exit from the CBS soap Jack is no longer shown working in his office. It's as if Jabot no longer exists and viewers know this company is a big part of Y&R. Victoris is running Newman Enterprises and Adam is the head of Newman Media but no one appears to be at the helm of the Abbott dynasty. Traci is in Paris, Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) jumped ship for ChanceComm and Gloria is totally MIA. It's as if the writers have forgotten all about the legacy of John Abbott.

Jabot is as much a legacy as the people who were running the company and fans want to see more action take place in the cosmetic world. With Tracy Abbot(Beth Maitland) and Ashley away from Genoa City, there is no one who can help Jack. The writers could always bring Jack's son Keemo (Phillip Moon) back to town to work in the family business and there is a possibility that if things don't work out that Kyle and Summer may return home.

These are only possibilities and do nothing for the current situation and many Y&R fans are wondering who is running Jabot because Jack is always elsewhere? Viewers don't like it when the writers leave very obvious loose ends and ignore the elephant in the room. Something needs to be done to preserve the Abbot legacy but what will it be? Had Jack taken up with Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) she could have begun working for him and Gloria could have remained at the front desk or been promoted.

Jack is getting older and perhaps like Victor he may be thinking of retiring so who would be at the helm of Jabot should that happen? Once upon a time Phyllis, Billy, Lily, Cane Ashby (Daniel Goddard), and others were up and down the elevators of the building that houses Jabot and now there is nothing. The Young and the Restless has dropped the ball on this one and fans ae waiting to see if they can redeem the situation.
