Is Yaoi better as an Anime or in the original format?

here's what I think.

Nopiz and Aoba from DMMD

I want to make clear I’m a woman who is heterosexual, who happens to love Yaoi. Yaoi is a genre of boy-love in japan romantic relationship with only males. You can find Yaoi in mostly Manga or visual novels and now in anime But what I’ve noticed when a Yaoi that was originally a manga, book, or a visual novel game gets turned into an anime it doesn’t have the same results in excitement. A good example, a novel called ‘Ai no Kusabi’ (the space between us), was a popular novel in the late 1980s. That in the 1990s got turned into anime; two episodes were produced, but because of the lack of funding and not many fans liked the show because it was not following the original story. There was plenty of nudity, sex, and violence, but not enough to stop the cancellation. There are audiobooks and novels of ‘Ai no Kusabi’ that are still selling, so when the anime of ‘Ai no Kusabi’ was re-release but with a different design of the characters and the screenplay was written by the original author herself Rieko Yoshihara. It only produced four episodes and got dubbed in English but not so much nudity or sex like from the one from the late ’90s, the show got canceled again for the same reason.

Another yaoi that didn’t go well as an anime was ‘Dramatical Murder’. It was a computer game that is narrated by the main character named Aoba Seragaki, who had a special ability called “scrap” which allowed him to be able to control people’s conscience just by using his voice. He had to choose one out of the five suiters to help him stop the villain of the game. So, the game was on the top ten list Yaoi and BL games, but it wasn’t a great anime because there wasn’t any romance between the characters except for a quick kiss between Aoba and one of the suiter named ‘Noiz’ (noise) who mentions that he is homosexual and loves men, and who in my opinion is one of the best characters (if you would like to know why I think Noiz is the best I included a link below on a blog I wrote about the five suiters of the game.) All the characters were more like friends, kind of like buddies until the end, which didn’t go well for the fans because there wasn’t any sex or nudity unless you count the bonus episode of the bad endings that if Aoba’s scrap ability went wrong. The bad endings did show some nudity, but only when the protagonist gets raped. The anime was short, with eleven episodes plus the bonus episode. However not all is lost because some anime that was originally a manga seems to be doing well there was one manga I came across a few months back called ‘Super lovers.’ It seems the fans are quite happy with the anime it has two seasons and rumor has it there might be a third season. So you see there are some Yaoi that might make a great anime, and then there are those that should stay in their original format.

But there are somethings all Yaoi have in common; they are not just showing and focusing on the characters going at it like rabbits; they are also showing and telling issues like social exclusions, caste system, wealth, and rights.

Here is the link to the blog That I was talking about why I think the character Noiz is the best in Dramatical Murder.
