Is Oliver Already Stronger Than Mark In Invincible Season 3?

There are some minor spoilers for Invincible season 3 in this article.

Mark is teaching Oliver how to be a superhero in Invincible season 3, and the three-episode premiere raises the question of whether the title character's younger brother is already more powerful than him. Oliver is set up to play a significant role in the plot of Invincible season three as a young superhero who needs to learn morality from Mark. Oliver is the son of Omni-Man, so it is reasonable to be concerned that he might end up like his father after traveling to Earth at the conclusion of Invincible season 2.

Since Oliver is learning what it means to be a superhero, Invincible season 3 spends a lot of time with him. Like his brother before him, Oliver gains strength, speed, agility, and durability as he confronts some of the villains in Invincible season 3. The strength of the so-called "Kid Omni-Man" is one of the more urgent questions as new Invincible characters are introduced through Oliver's hero journey; some even wonder if he is already stronger than Invincible.

Clues that Oliver is already stronger than Mark are revealed in Invincible Season 3.

First, it's important to examine how the first three episodes of Invincible season 3 hint that Oliver is stronger than Mark. First of all, compared to Mark, Oliver's abilities appear at a significantly younger age. Oliver was barely a year old when his abilities started to manifest, but Mark did not fully realize his potential as Invincible until he was sixteen. Although Oliver's advanced age as a half-Thraxan child is undoubtedly to blame for this, the speed at which his abilities manifest suggests that he might be more resilient than his brother.

The battle with the Mauler Twins in Invincible season three provides the next indication that Oliver is stronger than Mark. After a comparatively difficult battle against the recurrent antagonists, Mark is forced to flee and prevent their scheme from being carried out. After being overpowered at first, Oliver is left with the Maulers and quickly eliminates them. Oliver easily eliminates the two, just as Omni-Man did to numerous individuals in Invincible season 1. There are indications in these scenes that Oliver is stronger than Mark.

If Oliver hasn't already, he might pass Mark in the near future.

All of this only serves to demonstrate that Oliver has the potential to surpass Mark in strength if he hasn't already. Mark spent a significant amount of Invincible season 3, episode 3, telling Oliver that killing, like he did with the Mauler Twins, is wrong and not what Invincible and his superhero allies do. However, Oliver's rage overcame him in the heat of the moment, and he easily defeated the Maulers, demonstrating his potential power.

This might suggest that, in terms of strength, Oliver already has Mark beaten. If not, these hints suggest that Oliver might surpass Mark in strength in upcoming Invincible seasons. It is impossible to predict Oliver's potential power later in Invincible's plot if he is already so strong and quick at such a young age. Cecil and others may be concerned, but this could also mean another strong ally in the fight against the galaxy's vicious Viltrumites.

Is Oliver in The Invincible Comics Stronger Than Mark?

Following the three-episode premiere of Invincible season 3, the final significant question regarding Oliver's power level is whether or not he is more powerful than Mark in the original. Oliver lacks Invincible's level of power, as many readers of the original comic books will be aware. Oliver's half-Thraxan DNA has disadvantages, but his rapid aging and training under Mark enable him to quickly adjust to gaining his powers early. Oliver is marginally weaker than most Viltrumites due to Thraxan DNA, in contrast to Mark, who is the near-perfect blend of a Viltrumite and a human.

Oliver is therefore consistently portrayed in the Invincible comic books as being beneath Mark, Omni-Man, and other Viltrumite fighters throughout the series. As Invincible season 3 and later will undoubtedly demonstrate, Oliver has his own unique strengths and will probably be better at them than Mark. But in terms of unadulterated strength, Oliver will probably continue to fall behind Mark. Nevertheless, Invincible hasn't hesitated to alter the comic books when needed, so as the plot progresses, Oliver might end up becoming even more powerful than the title character.
