Invincible Season 3 Everything We Know

About the Release Date, Cast, Story, and Trailer

By WHB KHNPublished about a year ago 4 min read

The third season of the animated superhero series Invincible is expected to build on the popularity of the past two seasons. The show, which is based on Robert Kirkman's comic series of the same name, centers on Steven Yeun's character, Mark Grayson, a normal teenager who lives under the shadow of his superhero father until he starts to gain abilities at the age of 17 and learns about his father's sinister past. As comic book movies and franchises get more introspective, Kirkman's Invincible comics, which offer a sophisticated and nuanced look at superheroes, were the ideal material for an original series.

Critics overwhelmingly praised the first season of Invincible, praising its outstanding script, superb performances, and crisp animation (via Rotten Tomatoes). Without sacrificing much of the joy and clever commentary that made the first season so popular, Invincible has jumped into a new phase with the introduction of a multiverse and future timeline modifications in season 2. Although the destiny of Invincible season 3 was never truly in question, the series' future has been illuminated by the outspoken comments made by show creators such as Robert Kirkman on the impending season.

Latest News on Invincible Season 3

The most recent information confirms the release date for Invincible season 3, with suspense at nearly unbearable levels. A humorous teaser trailer that breaches the fourth wall in multiple ways was released by Amazon Prime Video to break the news. As the teaser begins, Mark (Steven Yeun) is eating lunch at a diner when Walton Goggins's character, Cecil Stedman, teleports in and chastises him for being lazy for so long. Cecil discloses that he is taking over Mark's training after they teasingly discuss Mark's recent defeat in the fight against the Viltrumites.

The teaser breaches the fourth wall by showcasing storyboards and voice actor Steven Yeun recording lines as Mark, in addition to revealing the fundamental plot of the upcoming third season. The most amusing of all, perhaps, is when Cecil complains about Mark taking a four-month vacation (a clever allusion to the midseason break in season 2). Invincible season three will debut on February 6, 2025, without a midseason hiatus, the trailer ends.

Date of Invincible Season 3's Release

Amazon Prime Video has finally scheduled the well-liked superhero series for its forthcoming third season, despite the lengthy wait. The first three episodes of Invincible season three will now air on February 6, 2025. After thereafter, the show will switch to a weekly schedule, with new episodes airing every week until the season finale on March 13, 2025. The fact that Invincible season three would not take a midseason break like season two has also been revealed.

Invincible Season 3 Cast

Nothing has been revealed about the cast of Invincible, except from the fact that season 3 is already airing and the voice-overs are finished. It has already been reported that Steven Yeun, who plays Mark Grayson, also known as Invincible, in the series will return to reprise his role. Similarly, it has been revealed that J.K. Simmons will reprise his role as Omni-Man, and Sandra Oh will reprise her role as Mark's mother, Debbie. In season three, Walton Goggins will return to his role as Cecil Stedman.

With the addition of new characters and guest performers, the ensemble of Invincible season three will keep growing. Although the size and scope of these roles are unknown, the addition of more Walking Dead alumni seems to indicate that the cast will continue to expand. Many of the aforementioned hidden guest actors might actually play much larger roles because voice-over acting isn't as hard as onscreen acting. Season 3 will also have appearances of Battle Beast and Titan, however it's unclear if Michael Dorn (Battle Beast) and Mahershala Ali (Titan) will reprise their voices.

Details of the Invincible Season 3 plot

There were several unresolved issues from the conclusion of Invincible season 2 that needed to be resolved in season 3 and thereafter. First, the fight between Mark and Angstrom Levy ended with the former viciously beating the latter (apparently to death, but the comics claim otherwise). There will be emotional fallout in the future because this is a significant boundary that Mark has never previously crossed. Mark has to combat the same impulses that make his father so heinous because there will be more fights soon.

The will-they-won't-they plot is anticipated to continue into season three, as Mark has yet to reveal his actual feelings for Eve. Despite being a little goofy, the first teaser trailer does hint at Mark's future, including his training with Cecil. More Viltrumites are on the way, as the teaser implies, and Invincible must perform at his peak if he is to escape another beating.

Trailer for Invincible Season 3

A tongue-in-cheek teaser trailer for Invincible season 3 was released by Amazon Prime Video along with the release date. In the clip, Cecil teleports in to interrupt Mark as he is eating lunch at a diner. They argue about Mark's bad habits and make fun of the lengthy break from the performance. Mark is reprimanded by Cecil, who also tells him that they must get ready for more Viltrumite threats and that he will be supervising his training going ahead.
