Invented Original Characters: Inti

Bringing my original comic characters to life with iPhone apps, tablet apps and zero artistic ability

By CKPublished 4 months ago 3 min read

Growing up my dream job was to be a comic book artist/writer. But with very little artistic talent that dream died pretty quickly. Now I do my best to bring my characters to life using apps like factory of heroes, swordmaker, armormaker, you doodle and photo cutout. They don't always turn out looking very good but I get more excited about the concepts and stories behind the characters than how well I can make the character look good. Sometimes my characters are from cultures I am not a part of because I think it fits their story or other aspects about them. I am not a cultural expert but at the very least I hope no one is upset by me using aspects of cultures I'm not a part of and find interesting. That said below is my original character Inti.

Inti is the strongest member of vampires based on blood drinking finches who feed on larger birds. Like all vampire groups they were originally humans. But when tick vampires were a great threat to humans in South America, a small group humans fled to the Galápagos Islands and started using blood magic. Feeding on each other's blood and using ancient magic they gradually became a new breed of bird like vampires. Surprisingly this new sect became powerful rapidly. Despite their smaller numbers they were able to remove nearly all tick vampires from South America. Despite haveing very limited ability with magic finch vampires' large size, ability to fly and powerful beaks made the average tick vampire no match for them. The tick vampires largely fled to North America while the finch vampires had a more synergistic relationship with the people of South America than would be expected. The small group of finch vampires had no desire to conquer like most vampire groups. Instead they only feed on humans they deem to be evil or drain the blood of sick humans to heal them. In return for how they benefited the humans in their region they only ask for the humans to help keep their existence secret in return.

Unfortunately for the people of South America and the finch vampires a powerful sorcerer put a curse on all vampires to give them each two new weaknesses. So while this "curse of two" was generally positive for giving humans a means to fight vampires more effectively it had the opposite effect in South America. Since finch vampires gained weakness to the rainbow obsidian and peppers found in South America and tick vampires became weak to resources found in North America, the tick vampires returned to South America using the finch vampires' weaknesses against them. This led to the South American people and finch vampires being more vulnerable to the tick vampires until the ticks went into hiding fearing the bat vampires empire when it was at its peak. But since the bat vampires' empire has been weakened in modern times tick vampires attacks are once again on the rise.

Despite the ticks being armed with weapons finches are weak to Inti still uses his brute strength to fight them and is hopeful to find allies in his fight against the ticks. Given the finch vampires small numbers and lack of desire to conquer Inti believes aligning with humans is the best chance to defeat tick vampires. Although finch vampires barely utter more than a word at a time and mostly use gestures, Inti has built surprisingly strong connections with the people of South America. However he believes that to sufficiently protect the people of South America he will need to journey north and secure Canadian allies that can provide a steady supply of the wildmint and purple quahog shell tick vampires are weak too.
