Interview with Luke Bugg-The Geek of Steel
Get to know the die-hard 'Superman' fan

Greetings, Vocal readers. I'm back with another interview, but the person I'm going to talk about is a die-hard fan of Superman. My article is about Luke Bugg, a Superman fan who has numerous items dedicated to the Man of Steel himself and also, talks about him. I've been following Luke on social media for a period of time and enjoy his posts. With over 30,000 followers on Instagram, he's the real deal when it comes to anything Superman related. I've recently interviewed him for this article, so I hope that everyone enjoys it.
Texxx-Man Cosplay: I’ve been following you on social media for a period of time, so I was wondering what led you to become a huge fan of Superman?
LB: Thanks for following! I have always enjoyed sharing my passions and positive outlook with anyone who wants to listen. For me, it always goes back to Smallville. Superman has always been present in my life, but it was the hit TV show that made me fall in love with Superman and want to know more about the history and stories. I will always hold onto Smallville!
Texxx-Man Cosplay: If your friends had to describe you in three words, what would they be?
LB: Loyal, funny and geeky!
Texxx-Man Cosplay: Many people that I follow on social media have been attending the Superman Celebration in Illinois. Would you mind telling my readers and everyone a little bit more about that?
LB: It is a great celebration, Superman fans as far as the eye can see! I have been twice now and it was well worth all the travel to get there. They have celebrity guests, events and of course the Superman Museum. It is a must for any Superman fan and I am very glad to have ticked it off my “Super-Bucket List”.
Texxx-Man Cosplay: I’m fascinated by the number of Superman related items you have in your room. How many of them do you think you possess?
LB: I have never really counted as when I start I end up just admiring things! I started my Instagram page (@TheGeekOfSteel) to keep a record of my items and make sure I didn’t buy the same thing twice. I have probably got over 500 items. Not a record breaking amount, but each and every item means something to me.
Texxx-Man Cosplay: This is a two-part question: in your opinion, what is your overall favorite Superman movie and which actor portrayed him the best?
LB: The toughest question and one that I get asked a lot! One day, it could be Tom Welling and the next, George Reeves! Here’s the thing: Superman is my hero and as long as he is being portrayed in the media, I am still getting fresh stories and seeing my hero on the big and small screen. It’s the idea of Superman that I adore and that’s why I am always happy to see new interpretations.
Texxx-Man Cosplay: On your Instagram page, I’ve noticed you were interviewing some great people such as Zachary Levi. What was that experience like?
LB: I have had some wonderful interviews with people and it is always exciting. Being able to talk and thank the stars that entertain me and so many others is a joy. Zachary Levi and Kevin Smith were wonderful to talk to and I hope our paths meet again in the future. I love asking questions and finding out more about peoples’ passions, no matter who they are. I think I am nosy! That is why I have had so much fun with my Podcast of Steel. Speaking with comic creators and celebrities has been so much fun. Speaking with Susan Eisenberg (the voice of Wonder Woman) was one of my favourite episodes and it inspired me to do more. I also spoke with the composers of the Netflix show “The Witcher” and would love to speak to some more of the people from that show as it was amazing! I have many more episodes planned for 2020 so I am always planning!
Texxx-Man Cosplay: If you had some advice to those who might be interested in following your footsteps, what would it be?
LB: Comfort zones are meant to be left, that is very important, but it is also very important to stay true to yourself. Never try to be someone else in whatever you do. Everyone has a voice and a passion about something and the more we share what we love, the more we inspire others to do the same.

I want to thank Luke for being interviewed by me. By interviewing him, I've learned so much more about him and how he's so passionate about what he speaks on. If you love everything Superman, I encourage everyone, especially my followers on social media, to follow him by going to the sites shown above.
