House of Night secures a Film Deal with Rain Li to Direct

PC and Kristin Cast’s vampire saga is set to be adapted into a movie franchise

I literally gasped when I heard the news on the Hollywood Reporter—the House of Night film adaptation is finally happening! This moment has been a long time coming, and I still can’t fully believe it. Fans like me who grew up devouring the books, obsessing over the twists, and immersing ourselves in the rich world of vampyres, are now eagerly anticipating the chance to see these beloved characters brought to life on the big screen.

For those who may not be familiar, The House of Night series, written by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast, was a defining part of many young adult readers’ lives. I was just fifteen when I picked up Marked, the first book in the series, and I was immediately hooked. It didn’t take long before I binge-read all the way through to Burned, desperately awaiting each new release as it came out. The world Cast duo created was so vivid, so immersive, that I couldn’t help but become attached to it. The complexity of the characters, the mixture of light and dark themes, and the way the series tackled serious issues with sensitivity—it all stayed with me.

I grew up alongside Zoey Redbird, the series’ protagonist, and the rest of the House of Night crew. Through the original series, the novellas, and even the multiverse spin-off as an adult, I found myself revisiting this world time and time again. It was more than just a set of books; it became an escape, a place where I could not only get lost in the supernatural, but also explore tough subjects such as love, loyalty, identity, and loss. These books weren’t afraid to delve into the darker side of life, but they did so with care and an understanding of the complexities of the human experience.

To say that these books inspired me is an understatement. They ignited my passion for reading and writing, and I credit them as one of the biggest reasons I decided to pursue writing as a career. The characters were so compelling, the world-building so intricate, and the stories so engaging that I couldn’t help but want to create something that could have the same impact. The House of Night series was a cornerstone of my literary journey, and I’m beyond thrilled to see it finally get its time to shine on screen.

Over the years, there has been plenty of speculation about what an adaptation of this series could look like. Fans have dreamed of a film, a TV show, or even something more experimental, but it wasn’t until recently that it was officially announced that The House of Night would be making its way to the silver screen. The news has stirred up a lot of excitement, and I’m definitely not alone in my enthusiasm. It’s surreal to think that this world I’ve loved for so long is about to be reimagined by a new creative team. And I, for one, am incredibly excited to see Rain Li’s directorial vision bring it to life.

One of the most exciting aspects of this announcement is the casting process. Who will fill the iconic roles of Zoey Redbird, Stevie Rae, and the rest of the gang? The possibilities are endless, and I’m already thinking of a few actors who would be perfect for these characters. Of course, I’ll save those thoughts for another post, but I have to admit, it’s hard not to let my imagination run wild as I think about who will bring these complex characters to life.

Finally, I want to take a moment to congratulate P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast. This film has been a long time coming, and I can only imagine how surreal it must be for them to see their creation making its way to the big screen. The House of Night series has touched the hearts of millions of readers around the world, and the excitement surrounding this film adaptation is a testament to how much their stories have stayed with us throughout the years.

Merry Meet, Merry Part, and Merry Meet Again! I can’t wait to experience this world once again—this time in a whole new way. 🌙🐈‍⬛🩸
