Harper Jones and the Missing Sorting Hat

Chapter 1...

“Dear, are you ready we have to go it’s almost 10.” “I'm coming, mom!” I gather my stuff up. Doesn’t she understand this is my first year of Hogwarts and I'm kind of stressing out. My mom bursts into the door. “Harper let's go!” “ok mom!” I grab my, My hero, Academia blanket and stuff it in my bag. I run out the door to catch up with my mom. “Ok honey do you have everything you need?” “Yes, mom.” “Ok then let's go.” We get in the car and off we go to the Hogwarts express. “Are we there yet?” I ask for the 5th time. “No would you stop asking we will be there when we get there!” “ok fine if you want to have an attitude about it,” I tell her quietly giggling. “I reach over to the radio to change the song. Mom slaps my hand. “Hey what was that for?” “I like this song when you get a car you can play whatever you like.” “Your mental,” I tell her. I grab my backpack out of the backseat to get my Chapstick. “Were here!” “Yay,” I say as my stomach starts to clench up. We get out of the car and start walking towards the train station. I see lots of families. One boy is with a bunch of people and they all look so familiar. Wait is that Harry Potter? No, it can't be Harry Potter, he's like 40! Hmmm, maybe it's one of his kids. Yea that’s probably it. We walk through the door. “Mom where's platform 9 ¾?” “Over here come on.” I follow her, this is mental. I'm not prepared for this! What if Professor Snape is mean to me oh no why couldn’t I have been homeschooled, I think. “Well go on now you first.” “What?” Did she just tell me to run through a wall um no thanks? “Just use your cart in front of you if you're scared.” um was I not supposed to be scared because that was not the case here. Well here goes nothing. I put my cart in front of me, plant my feet, and...

Chapter 2...

I see nothing for a second. Am I dead? I burst into the light and see the Hogwarts express. Oh, thank god I'm alive wait now I have to go to school nooo. Wow but the train is so pretty. My mom comes through the platform. “See that wasn't so bad.” “Speak for yourself I thought I had died,” I say kind of joking kind of not. “Well, here we are you ready to go?” “Not mentally no.” “Honestly Harper you worry too much it will be fine.” “The Hogwarts Express will be leaving in 5 minutes.” says an automatic voice “Ok honey go get in there. Try your best ok.”

She looks at me and smiles. “Ok mom.” I walk towards the train. “Love you mom!” “Love you too Harper!” Ok this won't be too hard I say trying to encourage myself. I step onto the train everyone seems very energetic. I walk through the compartments looking for an empty one. I walk into the last one at the end of the train where I find a girl with shoulder length blonde hair. She has a My hero academia shirt on and skinny jeans. She looks at me and smiles “Wanna sit?” “Um yes please. Oh, and I love your shirt.” I grab my bag and pull out my MHA blanket. Her eyes twinkle. “I think we were supposed to meet." she says. “Yea maybe. First year? "I ask? “Yea, you.” “Yea I'm nervous.” I tell her. “Same.” “Do you have any siblings that go here?” I ask, “No. Do you?” “Nope it's just me.” “Wait I never asked your name. I'm harper.” “Oh yes my name is Kayleigh.” We start talking and after about 5 minutes another girl walks in. She's tall and has dirty blond hair down to her chin. She has a leather jacket. Also, black lace up boots like me. “Can I sit?” “Of course!” me and Kayleigh say at the same time we look at each other and start to giggle. “What's your name?” I ask “Ithica. What about you guys?” “I'm Harper and this is Kayleigh.” “Thanks for letting me sit I've been looking for like 10 minutes.” She tells us as she comes and sits down. A small plump lady with a food trolly comes into the compartment. “Hungry?” “Um yes ill have 3 cauldron cakes and 3 chocolate frogs please also a daily prophet please.” “Ok that will be...” “So, Is this your first year Ithica?” “Yea. It's kind of nerve-wracking.” “I agree than my mom acts like it's just another day and I'm just sitting like what. Sometimes I think she's pretty mental.” I say venting. “Yea same with my mom.” Ithica tells us. “I think that moms are just strange.” Kayleigh tells us with a straight face. Once she brings back the food she got and passes one to each of us. We all burst out laughing. Kayleigh picks up her Daily Prophet she had just got. “Wow oh my gosh look at this. Walden Macnair escaped from Azkaban Prison. In the battle of Hogwarts Walden Macnair fought he was knocked unconscious by Hagrid the games keeper. Now he is on the lose if you see this wizard please alert the authorities. Then she shows us a picture. Kayleigh looks at her watch. “Oh, wow its already 5. we should get changed.” We all grab our trunks and start to put our robes on. “So are either of you exited for learning how to fly I am I love the sky.” “I'm super exited!” Kayleigh says. “Me too.” “I just hope we don’t fall.” I tell them. “Yea that would be scarry, but the nurse would have to help us, right?” Kayleigh says with a nervous look on her face. The train starts to slow down. “Well are you ready for this?” Ithica asks us. “Mentally no.” I say and try to smile. “Well there's no going back now.” Kayleigh says. So, we step off the train. “First years over here, first years over here.” we look over and see a huge man he's so tall probably around 8 feet tall.

Me and my new friends stare at him in awe. “Wow he's so tall!” I say as we walk over to him. “Hey newbies are you ready?” The very large man says. “My name is Rubeus Hagrid, but you’ll call me Hagrid.” He said with an English accent that was kind of hard to understand. I raise my hand. “um yes ms?” “Harper” I say, “So how are we getting there?” “Oh of course by these here boats.” he tells us. So, my friends and I all get into one boat and it starts to row itself. “I'm excited to get sorted I hope I get Gryffindor. How about you guys?” “ooh I want Gryffindor!” Kayleigh says. “What about you Ithica?” “Um I don’t know everything seems nice.” “So, you don’t have a preference?” I ask “Nope” by the time we knew it we were at Hogwarts. “Wow” my jaw dropped I had only seen pictures, but it was truly beautiful. “It's huge!” Kayleigh says. Ithica however says nothing her jaw dropped like the rest of us were. Next thing we knew we were getting out of the boats and walking up to the school. There were so many people! “I'm so hungry.” Kayleigh tells us. “yea same.” Ithica and I agree. We walk into the school. Theres a great big hall where a bunch of students are. “Hello first years I am Professor McGonagall. since you need to be sorted, we will be putting you in a different room until we start the sorting.” Then she leads us into a small room next to the great hall. “Ugh I'm so excited I can barely stand waiting.” I say “Yea” Kayleigh says. A girl walks over to us. She has glasses and dirty blond hair down to her shoulder. With a blue shirt with a book on it and skinny jeans. “Hi!” she says with enthusiasm. “I'm Kate Garcia. Nice to meet you. What your names?” “I'm Harper Jones.” “My name is Ithica Williams.” “And I'm Kayleigh Moore. It's nice to meet you.” Professor McGonagall comes crashing through the door. “Students follow me to the great hall!” She says out of breath. So, we all follow her everyone murmuring to their friends in excitement. “I'm so excited but why do you think the professor was so out of breath?” Kate asks us. “Hmmm, I don’t know?” Kayleigh says. Once we get into the great hall everyone seems in panic talking amongst themselves, I overhear one boy saying. “I can't believe it’s missing!” What's missing I wonder. Professor McGonagall leads us to the front of the hall. We all stand in a big clump talking to each other. “Students.” I hear a loud but gentle voice say, everybody, quiets down. I look up. There’s a tall man with a long white beard and twinkling eyes. “For those of you who don’t know the sorting has gone missing.” At that moment the whole School was talking amongst themselves.” SCIELINCE!” The headmaster yells then the whole school becomes

quiet.

Chapter 3...

“Thank you.” He tells us “For our new first years I am Professor Dumbledore.” how are we going to be sorted if the sorting hat is gone! I think to myself. Maybe it got misplace or something? “Now I know all you first years must be worried but don’t panic we shall find it.” The girl we met in the waiting room I think her name was Kate raised her hand. “Yes, miss? "Dumbledore asked her. “Kate, Kate Garcia. Is there a revealing charm you could use?” she asked, “Well miss Kate we have tried but it just won't let us.” Dumbledore said a little bit of worry on his face. “But please everybody sit.” He told us. So, we all sit down. Hmmm, how are we going to find it the castle is huge! Are there any suspects? I wonder hmm I have an idea. “Hey?” I whisper to Kayleigh and Ithica. “Yea?” Kayleigh says. “Ok so just follow my lead. Now everyone go ask a different teacher to go to the bathroom. Ok? “Ok.” They both say with a look of worry on their faces but there trusting me and that’s all I can ask for. I go up to a random teacher I find in a corner watching the Gryffindor table. “Um excuse me.” “Oh yes dear?” the nice witch said. “Can I go to the bathroom?” “Oh yes of course. Just go out of the hall and turn right then keep going till you come to it.”

“Ok thank you.” I say and start to walk off. Ok so what am I doing I don't even need those directions I just need to find the sorting hat. Oh no what am I getting myself into. Once I get out the door, I see Kayleigh and Ithica. “So, what exactly are we doing?” Ithica asks. “Well were going to find the sorting hat. “I say scared of them leaving me. “Cool.” Kayleigh says as Ithica slaps her hand against her for head. “Are you crazy?” she asks. I think about it for a second well. “Little bit but I would like to be sorted.” I tell her. “Ok well me to but we can't go wandering around the school looking it!” She tells me. “Please Ithica.” I wine and give her my best anime eyes. She looks at me for a second. “Fine.” she says “Yay!” Kayleigh says. “Let's go.” I tell them. As we start walking, I suddenly have to go to the bathroom. “Well looks like we will need those directions after all.” I say out loud. “What?” Kayleigh asks. “I have to go to the bathroom.” I tell her “Well good thing we have the directions.” Ithica says. So, we keep walking forward. After about 10 minutes we still haven't found it. So, we turn right again and keep walking. Now it's been about 20 minutes and I've really got to go! “Is that it?” I ask, “Um I think so yea.” Kayleigh tells us. “Oh, thank Merlin.” I say and start running towards the bathroom. My friends running after me. I burst through the door and run into a stall. Oh, sweet relief, I think. Suddenly someone or something comes sliding through the side of the wall. “Ahhh!” I scream. “What's wrong?” Kayleigh yells. “Are you ok?” Ithica asks. I stand up and put down my robes. There is a ghost in front of me she a girl who looks about 14. “Hi.” she says and giggles. “Um hello.” I say as I open the door. “Who are you?” she asks us “I'm Harper Jones. This is Kayleigh Moore.” I say and point to her. “Hi.” she says, “And this is Ithica Williams.” I tell her and point to Ithica. “Nice to meet you.” “Who are you?” I ask her. “Oh, my name is Myrtle.” Mrytle tells us. “What brings you in here?” she asks us. “No one ever comes in my bathroom because nobody likes me, they call me moaning myrtle. Can you believe that. "She tells us and starts crying her eyes out? “I mean... how..that?” She asks us through repeated sobs. We all look at each other. I look back up at her and take a deep breath. “Well Myrtle.” I say as nicely as possible. “We are looking for the sorting hat. Do you know where it is?” “Oh, um well Filch came in here with it.” she told us wiping the tears off her face. Mumbling something to himself like. “If I couldn’t be sorted then no one else deserves to this is the year no one gets sorted!” Something like that.” Moaning myrtle told us. “Oh my gosh well do you know where he put it?” “Um yes” she told us, and she pointed to a stall. We all run over to the stall push the door open and...

Chapter 4...

There’s nothing there. Except for Moaning Mrytle who jumps out at us? “Bloody hell!” I yell “What was that for?” I ask, super annoyed. She just sits there and stares at us. “You should’ve seen the look on your faces.” She told us laughing. “This is serious!” Kayleigh tells her looking the maddest I've ever seen her, but I've only known her for like a couple of hours. “But she’s right this is super important how are we gonna be sorted?” I yell at Moaning Myrtle she starts to cry. I don't care. “Let's go.” Kayleigh says. “Yea.” we storm out. We start heading back to the great hall. “Well you know when the school first opened Salazar Slytherin sorted everyone himself to where he thought they should go.” Ithica told us. Kayleigh and I look at her.

“How do You know that?” I ask her. “Um Hogwarts a History?” She told looking at us like we were crazy, for not knowing the book she was talking about. We finally get back into the great hall everyone was talking. Professor McGonagall walks up to us. “where were you?” “Um sorry professor we got lost and then we ran into Moaning Myrtle and she told us she knew where the Sorting hat was, so we went into the stall and it wasn’t there, but she said filch had come in there with it and went in that stall with it then came out without.” Ithica said to her. Professor McGonagall looked at her with such shock. “Well that’s strange he just quit today.” She muttered to herself. Kayleigh and I looked at each other. “I think we have a lead.” I whispered to them. Then smiled. “Ok well go sit down where you were.” she told us. So, we walked over there and sat down. Kate came over to us. “What took you guys so long?” She asked us being too nosy for my liking but I deal with it. Trying not to start anything. “Moaning Myrtle.” I say. “Oh, I've read about her in Hogwarts a History.” She says, “Well looks like you're not the only one who's read it.” I said and giggled. “So, what do they plan on doing about the sorting?” I ask her since she seems to know things. “Well, Dumbledore doesn't want to just sort people as he seems fit even though he is very smart and probably could. So, they are just going to not have houses until they find the hat.” She tells us. “How are they gonna do that?” Kayleigh asks “Well they told us by last name so a,b,c,d in a Gryffindor. e,f g,h j,k,l,m and so on.” She tells us. “wow this is going to be a weird year at Hogwarts.” Kayleigh says to herself. “Girl you were not here when Harry Potter went here.” Kate tells us “Neither were you.” I laugh “no.” She says. “But I read all about it!” She smiles. “When are we gonna eat?” I ask. “Once Dumbledore appoints us to our honorary house.” Kate says. “When's that?” I say as my stomach starts to growl. “Not sure.” “Ok first years we will start appointing you to your honorary house. Ok now if your last name starts with A, E, I, M, Q, U, and Y. If any of your last names start with that you will be in....” I wait for what house Kayleigh will be in. “Gryffindor!” Dumbledore yells all the Gryffindor's whooped and shouted then all the new honorary Gryffindors stand up and go to their table. Kayleigh stands up looks at us, waves and smiles, and walks away. Goodbye Kayleigh, I say in my head. “Ok if your last name starts with B, F, J” oh that’s me. “N, R, V, and Z.” ok this is it what's my house? “Your house is....” I hold my breath and close my eyes. “Slytherin!” Ok, that doesn’t seem completely terrible I tell myself. I stand up. All the Slytherins clap and yell. We get to the table and sit down next to another honorary Slytherin.

Chapter 5...

“Hi.” I say as I start talking to her. “Hello.” “What's your name?” “Victoria Mason but you can call me Tori.” She said. “Nice to meet you Tori I'm Harper Jones you can call me Harper,” I told her then we started laughing. Then Dumbledore started talking again. “OK now if your last name starts with C, G, K, O, S, and W you will be in....” ok that's Ithica and Kate. “Hufflepuff!” Hmmm nice, then the whole of Hufflepuff stood up and starts clapping. The new honorary Hufflepufs stood up and walked over to their table. Tori and I start talking and so we don’t hear Dumbledore say who the Ravenclaws are. A couple of seconds later our attention brought back to the front. “Ok well now that that is done. Let the feast begin!” Dumbledore exclaimed. Then the most beautiful food I had ever seen appeared on the table, sorry mom. “Oh, thank god!” Tori sighed smiling as she grabs a plate. So, I did the same. “I am so hungry!” I told her. I grabbed some of everything. “Yum, the shepherd's pie is SOOO good!” I tell her. “I know right.” She exclaims with a mouth full of food. This is great. Hmmm, what's to drink? Ooh, pumpkin juice, nice. After about 30 minutes of eating Dumbledore started to talk again. “Ok now I think it is time for some dessert.” then with a wave of his wand all the food disappeared and with it came back dessert. “ooh apple pie.” I say as Tori and I for the last piece of the pie. We look at each other. “You can have it.” Tori tells me her face turning pink. “Oh no, you can have it.” I tell her. She takes the piece of pie sets it on her plate and cuts it in half. “Here which piece do you want?” She asks me, smiling. I point at the smaller piece and she puts it on my plate. “Thanks, Tori.” “Of course.” and she turns to her plate and digs in. So, I do the same. Professor McGonagall is walking around passing out schedules. Finally, she gets to Tori and me. “Here you go.” “Thank you, professor.” Tori says pleased. we look at our schedules. Let's see what do we have here?

Hmm That doesn’t seem terrible I only have Snape twice a week so that’s good because I've heard he's really mean but since I'm technically in his house maybe he’ll be nice. “So, what do you think Tori?” “Um I think it's good I'm excited about flying.” “Same!” I tell her. “Ok well, I think you all should be getting to bed.” Dumbledore tells us with a twinkle in his eyes. “Perfects I'll ask you to take your house to your common room.” two perfects stand up. “Ok follow us.” We all stand up and do as we are told. “I'm excited to see what the common room looks like!” “Same.” Tori agrees. We walk for about 5 minutes. “Wow, it’s cold.” “Yea,” I say starting to get goosebumps. We finally get to a long hallway Where we suddenly stop. “Ok the password is Serpent, but the password will change every two weeks.” The boy perfectly tells us. “Serpent.” A hallway appears we walk through it. Wow, that’s a lot of green. “Ok on the left is the boy’s common room right is the girls.” he tells us. Then he and the girl perfect go over to the fireplace and start snogging. Well, that’s not necessary. “So, what do you want to do?” “Ooh, let’s go see where we are goanna sleep!” I say excitedly. We run up the stairs. We find two beds next to each other and move our trunks over there. “This is gonna be awesome!” “Definitely!” I express. I open my trunk and grab out my Hogwarts scarlet hoodie and some black sweatpants. Then I put them on. Tori also puts her pj’s on. I sit on my bed. “So where do you think the Sorting hat is? My two friends and I went looking for it we didn’t find it, but we have a lead! I think it’s Filch well so I've heard from Moaning Myrtle. What do you think?” “Um, I'm not sure. I don’t know who Filch is.” “Me either but he seems suspicious.” We break out laughing. “I wonder who it could be though because I would like to be really sorted you know?” “Yea.” I sigh. I reach into my bag and grab my My Hero Academia blanket and put it on my bed. “That’s better,” I say to myself. “Oh My Gosh, you watch it too?” Tori asks me. “Obviously! It’s the best. Who's your favorite ship say it on the count of three.” “ok” “1,2,3.” “TodoDeku!” We both yell at the same time. we start giggling. A few minutes later I talk again. “That food was SOOO good!” I exclaim. “Yess, I hope the foods that good every day!” The girl perfect who was snogging the boy one in the common room came in. “Ok time for bed.” she told us tiredly. From all that snogging, I think. Then laugh at my own joke. "Night Tori sweet dreams.” “Goodnight.” I kick off my sheets get under my blankets and drift to sleep.

Chapter 6...

Well, that was a weird dream. Tori was already up getting ready. “Goodmorning sunshine.” She said and smiles. “Morning,” I say as I yawn. “I had the weirdest dream. Wanna hear it?” “Defiantly.” “Ok so I was walking through the halls and came upon a door and I saw who I thought was filch go in the door.” I told her completely shocked. “Wow, that really is crazy.” “Right!” “Ok well, we should go eat.” Tori laughed “Ok let me get dressed.” I grabbed my robes and put them on. “OK let's go.” I grab my school stuff. We walked downstairs there was no one in the common room already at breakfast. “I'm still full of dinner last night,” I tell her laughing. “Yea same.” she says smiley “I'm am so excited for classes to start but also I say that now then in like two days your goanna have to drag me out of bed. I feel bad for you Tori.” “Why?” “Because I'm gonna beat you there.” I say looking at her then I run to the great hall. I get there she is a little bit behind me panting. “Good job.” She tells me still panting. We walk in the great hall and the smell of bacon hits me yummy. My mouth starting to water. We walk over to our table and grab a plate. I grab some eggs, bacon, and toast then dig in. Then wash it down with some orange juice. “Yum, ok so what's our first class, and where in the world is it?” Tori grabs her schedule. “Um our first class is.” she reads it over. “Herbology and it's behind the school.” “What time is it?” I ask. “8:15 so we have around an hour and a half.” “So, what should we do?” “Um, we could go sit by the lake and talk.” “Ok.” I say so once we finish our food, I grab some toast to take out there and we walk out there. We get to a nice tree and sit on it next to each other. Her curly dirty blonde hair in a low ponytail blowing a little in the wind. “So,” she said moving her hair over her right shoulder. “Yes?” “Do you think your dream was a sign?” “What do you mean?” I ask confused. “I mean like.” She grabs her bag and pulls out the daily prophet. "When did you get that?” “Oh, I found it in the common room.” I look at her. What the where did she get the daily prophet in the common room and when I've been with her this whole time. “Ok so look.” She says pointing at a picture that looks like the filch from my dream.

“Ok so apparently this is Filch.” “What? Oh my gosh, I'm a phychic! Also, why is he in the daily prophet?” “Um something for the beginning of the school year or something.” “Huh, strange,” I mutter to myself. “What?” “It's Nothing.” “ok” “So what you're saying is that could’ve really happened?” “Maybe.” hmm this all weird. “Maybe we should talk to Moaning Myrtle?” “Ok, but why is it Moaning Myrtle?” “Oh, you'll see.” I tell her smirking. She is one crazy ghost. I take a bite into my toast that I forgot I had. Yum toast. I smile to myself Tori looks at me and smiles. I smile back. I look in my bag and grab my wand. “So, do you know how to use this?” “No Idea.” she laughs. Tori stands up. “We should get going its 9 and I don’t know how long it will take to get there.” “Ok.” I grab my bag, wipe my crumbs on my robes from the toast then put my wand in my bag and start walking. Tori had already started walking so I ran to catch up with her. “I hope Professor Sprout isn't super mean.” I tell Tori with a smile. She looks at me smiles and nods. Then turns around quickly. After about ten minutes we make it to the greenhouses. “Good Morning students!” Everyone groans. Probably tired.

“Ok well, Follow me into the first greenhouse. sInce you are all first years we will always be using greenhouse one so once you get here just walk into this greenhouse. Ok?” “Ok.” Everyone said to her they all looked very tired. Except the Ravenclaws who looked so cheery and happy, it's kind of annoyed me. We walked into the greenhouse and found a seat. “Ok, everyone takes some parchment out. We will be taking notes on Devil Snares today.” Some girl whispers to someone next to them and asks for a quill. Wow, missing materials on the first day.” Ok so devil snares are....” Around fifty minutes later. “Ok thank you, class. Today I didn’t plan to have homework today so-” the bell rings. “You are dismissed.” The Ravenclaws groan. Tori and I stand up and start on our way to Charms. “That wasn’t that bad. And no homework!” Tori exclaims. She looks at me I smile. “I'm glad we don’t have homework; I hope Snape doesn’t give us homework he probably will though.” I start laughing then grab her hand and run into the school. Once we stop running, I let go of her. We start walking to Charms. Tori’s face is beet red. she out of breath from running. We finally get to the charms class. We’re about five minutes early so not a lot of people are here yet. Tori and I find a seat. “I wonder what we're going to learn...” I say thinking out loud. Tori nods. A little short teacher walks in and when I say short, I mean short like dang! “Ok class, get out some parchment we will be taking notes for the week.” everyone groans and gets out parchment. “We will be learning about the charm Wing Guardium Leviosa...” after about 45 minutes of writing and listening. “Ok class-” Ringggg “That will be all no homework for today.” The class cheers and we leave. We leave and start walking to D.D.A.

“It's finally lunchtime!” Tori says “I know right! I'm so hungry. Gosh, we almost got off with the no homework. Stupid Snape.” “Yea” Tori agrees. A Slytherin prefect turned and glared at us. Tori and I looked at each other and started giggling. She turned around and started eating “yummm this is good I was so hungry.”. I turned back to my food and started giggling “yea.”. “One more class Maybe will get off with only homework from snape.” “Hopefully,” Tori says with a little food in her mouth. I smile at her. So, we must write a paper on the spell Excpecto Patronous. Hmmm, I’ll see if Tori wants to go to the library after school. “Hey?” “Yea?” she looks at me. “Wanna go to the Library after school?” “Oh yea.” Her smile fades like she hoped I would say something else. There’s an eyelash on her face I tell her. She looks at me. “where.” I point to right above her lip. She can't find it. “Do you mind?” I ask she shakes her head. I get the eyelash off her lip she had put it down there with all the rubbing. “Got it.” She smiles and lightly blushes.

Chapter 7.

“Ok.” I smile “What's our last class?” Tori grabs her schedule. “umm” she scans it through. “Transfiguration with professor McGonigal.” “ok” I look at the clock it’s 12 o’clock. “Well, we have around an hour till then.” She nods. “What do you want to do?” She asks as we start walking out of the hall. “Well, we could get the library out of the way so we can just hang out later.” She seems to like that idea because she says “Ok!” right away and smiles. I smile at her. We start walking towards the library. A group of Ravenclaws walk by us and are talking about the sorting hat. I start to slow down and eavesdrop. “Yea I heard Filch had something to do with it .” Said a boy Ravenclaw. “Who said that?” “Not sure I just heard it somewhere.” “Oh says the girl who asked him. Tori stops and turns around realising that I had slowed down. “You good?” “Yea,” I tell her and start to walk up to her. “What was that about?” She asks me a confused look on her face. “Oh they were just talking about the sorting hat and I decided to listen.” “um ok.” She says shaking her head and smirking.

“You still worried about that?” “You’re not!” I say shocked. We keep walking. I stop dead in my tracks. “I have an idea.” I say smirking smiling. Tori shakes her head and smiles. “no. Whatever it is with that evil smile the answer is most defiantly no.” She says smiling and keeps walking. I go to catch up. “Oh come on.” I stop right in front of her and put my hand together and give her my best cute anime eyes. “Please...” I say in the cutest way possible. She stares at me her face kind of pink. Her smile fading into a concentrated look. I can tell I'm starting to break her. A minute goes by. She starts to smile and sighs. “Fine let’s hear it.” “Yes! Ok so tonight once everyone goes to bed.” I can tell she's already regretting agreeing to it. “Will go to moaning myrtles bathroom and look for fingerprints.” “Who's fingerprints and why moaning myrtles bathroom?” “Well, filchs fingerprints because he's suspicious I mean as soon as the sorting hat went missing he quit like um what? Then moaning Myrtle's bathroom one because of my dream because it seemed like the same hall I walked down to go to her bathroom two I’ve been in there and she said something about filch being in there.” We walk into the library find a table then sit down. We lean close to each other so no one can hear us. “How do you plan on one not getting caught and two getting filchs fingerprints?” “Not sure.” I say frowning. “wait” I get up and walk over to the Charm books. I run my finger through the books. I grab one and flip through the pages “Here” “What are you doing?” Tori asks “Here this is how.” A disillusionment charm?” She says looking confused. “Yea we learn the spell.” “Ok listen Harper this a great idea but.” “But what?” “Hey hey listen but this is a year 5 charm we cant even levitate a feather and you want to make our selves invisible. I just don’t think it will work Harper.” “Tori.” I wine “Cant we at least try?” She looks at me smiles shuts the book loudly with one hand. “no.” She giggles. I frown. “I'm just kidding we can try.” She smiles. “Yay!” I say excitly. Madam Pince looks at me glares and presses a single finger to her lip and shushes me. Sorry I mouth. I look at the clock its 12:36. “Ok we have about an hour to finish this paper. Let's get to work.” “Ok.” I say settling down since I can tell she's getting serious. I look at her and giggle. “What?” “Nothing nothing at all.” “Ok Harper?” I think to myself she looks adorable when she's serious. I laugh to myself.

After about 35 minutes...

“Done!” Tori says. “Almost and... done!” “Yay” It's around 1:10 “Ok we should start going.” Tori tells me. “Ok give me a second.” I grab the books will the disillusionment charm and I go check it out. I walk back over to Tori. “Ok ready.” She smiles and shakes her head. “I was so close.” We both start laughing. After a second of laughing we are rudely interrupted by none other then-. “What are a couple of students like you doing inside on this fine day?” We both turn around to see Snape staring at us with his greasy black hair. “Oh we were finishing the homework you gave us sir.” I say with a little sass in my voice. Tori starts nodding as she's frozen in fear. “Oh?” Snape says an eyebrow raised. “Yes.” I say. Raising my eyebrow as if to say try me. “Well since I'm here would you like to give them to me.” He says as more then a statement then a question. “Well if it wouldn’t be to much of a bother sir.” I say with a little sarcasm. We both hand our papers to him. He snatches them. Looks them over and nods to himself with a look as to say better then I expected. “S-sir?” Tori says after unfreezing and facing him. “Yes Ms.Mason?” “U-um W-where is Professor McGonigal's classroom?” “Oh yes. Down that hall.” He says as he points to a hall on the right of us. “You’ll keep going that way its at the end of the hall Ms.Mason.” “T-thank you sir.” After giving me a dirty look Snape walks away muttering to himself. Something about Potter or something. “So sassy!” Tori says as we start walking to class. “What!” I say giggling. “I don’t like him he's rude so I through some rudeness back at him.” “Thats brave.” Tori tells me smirking. “Yea well I enjoyed it.” I say smiling. We both start laughing and Tori shakes her head. We walk into class. Theres a cat sitting on the teacher's desk at the front of the class. “Aww a kitty. I love kitties there, so cute.” “Yes!” Tori agrees and smiles. We find a seat and sit down. Suddenly as soon as the bell rings the cat that was on the desk turned into the teacher. Every ones jaws dropped. “OK we will start class. We will be learning how to change objects and later on animal and people to different things. Like.” She looks at her desk utters an incantation then suddenly her desk turned into a pig then back into a desk. Everyone started whispering to each other amazing at what had just happened. “Shhhh quiet down. Later in your years you will be able to do this if you decide to keep going with transfiguration. For right now I will have you turning a needle into a bobby pin.” Then she starts passing out needles. “Ok so you’ll want to take out your wands and-”

50 minutes later...

The bell rings. “Ok Class dis-” I raise my hand. “Yes Ms. Jones?” “Professor is it possible to stand in something and it makes you appear somewhere else?” “Well Ms. Jones you have portkeys so if you touch these they can make you appear in a different location which has been set for that specific object. Does this help?” “Yes Professor but also could you use a toilet?” “Why yes Ms. Jones this is what they use at the ministry of magic.” “Hmmm ok professor thank you!” Tori giving me a look like are you crazy! I grab my things and so does Tori and we walk out of the classroom. Once we get out of the classroom. “Are you crazy! You know how suspicious that was?” “Tori its fi-” “Wow your stupid aren't you?” I turn around and see a girl with long black hair. She has a smirk on her face. “Excuse you?” I say making sure I heard her. “Oh wow look everyone the dumb mud blood is also deaf!” The girls grouped around her like a cult started laughing. I just stare at her. What should I do? Tori speaks up. “Leave her alone you!” “Aww look the little rat speaks up.” The girl with long black hair says giggling. Now I'm mad. I start walking up to her. “Shut up!” “And what are you going to do about it little mud blood its just you and your little rat of a friend. “You don’t want to do this.” I tell her as a final warning. “What you going to do mud blood?” She says slowly. Out of no where I slap that smirk right off her face. She looks at me shocked. “Thats what ill do you. You little rat.” I say slowly and smirk. I walk towards her getting real close she starts backing up. “Don't start drama you cant finish.” I tell her then walk back towards Tori “Come on Tori.” “Ok Harper.” She says shocked and starts following me to the common room. “Ill tell Snape.” The girl with black hair says. “What's your name honey?” I say sweetly. “A-Ashley.” Ashley says still a little shocked from what had just happened. “Well Ashley.” I say as sweetly as possible. I start slowly walking back towards her. I whisper in her ear. “If you know what's good for you you'll keep your mouth shut.” I can feel her heavily breathing. I start backing up. She rolls her eyes. I raise my eyebrows. “Try me. Don’t mess with me or my friends.” I act like I'm about to slap her again but don’t. She flinches and I walk away back towards Tori. Tori keeps walking so I catch up. “What do you want to do?” She looks at me and just stares at me. Her eyes are glossy like she’s about to cry. “You shouldn’t of done that.” She says starting to tear up. “I'm sorry Tori but what was I supposed to do?” “You should of just ignored her that’s what she wanted you to do to react.” We walk outside and sit down on a tree next to the lake. I look down at my feet. “I'm sorry Tori...” I tell her. She doesn't answer. A couple minutes go by. “Hey?” “What.” Tori says tears trickling down her face. “Did I scare you?” Tori looks away and stares at the lake. She starts mumbling but loud enough to hear her. “My parents always fight and yell. Its really scary so I just don’t like fighting.” “Oh.” Tori looks at me. She starts whiping the tears off her face. “You must think I'm pretty pathetic huh?” She asks me. “Not at all. I think you were just scared and that’s fine everyone gets scared.” I scoot closer to Tori and lean my head on her. She's blushing. I think for a second. I raise my head. “Hey.” “Hm?” “What if I make it up to you?” “How?” Tori asks me. “Hmmm.” I think. “Well? What do you want?” I ask her. “Umm anything?” “Anything!” I tell her. She thinks for a second. “Chocolate.” Tori says and smiles. “Chocolate?” I say raising my eyebrows. “Yes.” She nods. Where can I get chocolate? Hmm. Tori stands up. I look up. “What's up?” “I'm bored.” She tells me. “Oh.” I look at her and smirk. “What?” She says turning slightly pink. “Ok hear me out we could go into an empty classroom and practice the disillusionment charm.” Tori puts her hand against her forehead and shakes her head. “Oh my.” I stand up and walk over to her. “Please? Don't make me use my anime eyes.” I tell her we both start laughing. “Fine, let's go.” We walk back into the school.

I see Ashley talking to Snape. I grab Tori’s hand I start running down the hall looking for an empty classroom. I look over and see one and I run in there with Tori and shut the door. Tori’s out of breath. “What was that all about?” She asks me trying to breathe. “Ashley was talking to Snape.” “So?” “Do you not remember the whole slap thing?” “Oh yea. I did forget that.” I start pacing around the room. “what am I going to do? I shouldn’t of hit her.” Tori nods. “Ahh I'm so expelled.” I stop pacing. Tori looks at me. I look at her. “My mom is going to kill me. I'm dead I am so dead.” Tori stands up and walks over to me. I stop pacing and look at her. My eyes filling with tears. Tori grabs my hands and gives them a squeeze. “Hey its going to be ok.” She tells me reassuringly. “No, no its not.” I tell her shaking my head. Tears now running down my face. She rap's her arms around me and hugs me tightly. I hug her back and tears run down my face even more. We hear someone burst in the door and we look over and break apart. “W-we found you! Finally.” “Kayleigh? Ithica?” I say confused. They see the tears running down my face and the awkward look on Toris face. “Um is this a bad time?” Kayleigh asks awkwardly. I relies the tears and rub them off my face quickly. “No no not at all. What's up?” Kayleigh and Ithica look at each other. “Your going to want to see this.” Ithica tells me. “Follow us.” Kayleigh says. I nod and look at Tori. She nods and we follow them. “So Harper I heard you slapped a girl.” Kayleigh said sounding very interested. “Oh you heard about that.” I say shaking my head. “Yes what happened?” Ithica asks me. “Well.” I look at Tori. “This girl Ashley said Tori was a rat and called me a mud blood a few times. So...I slapped her.” I said ashamed of what I had done. “Thats crazy!” Ithica says nodding. “I mean she was asking for it though saying stuff like that to you.” Kayleigh tells me. “Well maybe. But I shouldn’t of hit her.” Tori nods. “Where are we going anyways?” Tori asks. “Filch’s old office.” Kayleigh says excitedly.

Chapter 8...

We walk to Filch’s office once we get there we look around then sneak in the door. “So whats in here?” Tori asks. Ithica goes to a draw and pulls out a piece of parchment. “This.” Ithica says and hands it to me. I give her a confused look. Tori looks at it. “Its just a piece of parchment?” Tori says confusedly. “Just a piece of parchment.” Kayleigh says looking at Ithica smiling. Kayleigh puts her hand out and I hand her the parchment. Kayleigh takes her wand out. “I solemnly swear that I am up to know good.” Then she taps the parchment. Tori and I give each other a confused glance. We look over at the parchment and lines start to form on the parchment. “How did you know it did that?” I ask her shocked. “Well me and Ithica were snooping around.” “Not by my own free will.” Ithica pipes in. Kayleigh looks at her and shakes her head smiling. “Anyway we were snooping around and found this... “Oh ok hmm that’s interesting.” I say thinking to myself after they explain everything that happened. “Ok but this is where things get interesting.” Kayleigh says and hands me the map. The marauders map hmm interesting. “Look.” Kayleigh says and points at a little pair of feet walking down the hall. I read the name. “Argus Filch?” I say confused. Then it hits me. “Oh my god!” “Yea I know right.” Ithica agrees excitedly. “Wait? I thought he quit?” Tori says. I nod my head in agreement. “I know right! So I was thinking...” Kayleigh smirks. “Oh no I know that look.” Tori says. I giggle she looks at me smiling and shaking her head. “So I was thinking later tonight we all sneak out and follow these foot stops.” Kayleigh tells us her plan. Tori and Ithica shake their heads. “I'm in.” I say smirking. “Well I'm going I got to watch you.” Tori says and looks at me. “Same here.” Ithica agrees. “Then its settled. Tonight at 11 o’clock we’ll all meet in this room. Ok?” We all nod our heads. “When we walk out of here we go our separate ways. We cant let anyone get the idea that we’re suspicious.” “Ok.” I say. “We’ll see you guys tonight.” Tori and I walk out of the room and head back to our common room. “Hey?” I say quietly. “What's up?” Tori looks at me a little concerned. “Um I'm sorry about earlier...” “What do you mean?” “You know that whole break down thing and everything that lead up to that.” “Don't apologize. You're fine. I’ve only known you two days but It feels like I've known you for years.” “Thats how I feel to.” I say. I look at her and Smile. She smiles back at me. Were almost to the common room. I go to reach for Tori’s hand when. “ewww what is that?” “Where did that come from?” We here a bunch of students talking down the hall. We run over to the place where the hall turns. Theres a small group of students circled around a big pile of poop. “Ewww what is that?” I wonder. Snape come walking down the hall. Coming to what all the commotion is I imagine. He see’s me oh no. “Thats not good.” I whisper to Tori as Snape stares me dead in the eye she looks up. She looks at me. “Its going to be ok.” “You seem to be forgetting that I slapped a girl.” Snape gets to us. “Ms.Jones” He looks at me. Im ready to go with him. “Ms.Mason. Lets go.” I look at Tori confused. Wait what did she do? She looks at me terrified. I am so sorry. I mouth to her. We go to follow Snape to what I assume is his office. We walk into his office and he sits down at his desk. We sit at the chairs in front of his desk. “Do you know why you are here?” Snape asks. That’s a scary question. What if its not the fact that I slapped Ashley. I look over I can see Tori shaking next to me. I just want to hug her. Realizing I should get this over with quick. “Because I hit Ahley sir?” “That is correct Ms. Jones.” “Sir if I may?” “Yes?” “Why is Tori here she didn’t do anything?” “That may be correct but i have talked to some of the teachers and they think I should talk to Ms. Mason here to see what happened.” He stops glaring at me and turns to Tori. “So Ms. Mason what happened?” After a couple of minutes she had finished telling him what had happened. “Hmm ok well it seems that Ms. Darcel.” Does he mean Ashley? “Is more at fault here and had started it. Even so Ms. Jones your actions must be considered. You will have on week of detention.” “What will I be doing sir?” I ask confused. “Well with Filch gone. Stuff will need cleaning. So today after you finish eating. You will meet me in the hallway where the trophy shelf is you will be cleaning all of the trophies.” He tells me and gives me a smirk. “Ok sir.” “Well that will be all.” Tori stands up and gives me a glare and walks out. I go after her. Once I get out i see her half way down the hallway. I go to catch up with her. She doesn't say anything. Oh no. We both walk into the common room and I follow her to our dorm. She slams the door . No ones in there. “Have you gone mad!” She yells at me. “What do you mean?” I walk over to my bed where she's standing. “That was so stupid and completely terrifying!” “Look I'm sorry if it was up to me I wouldn’t of had you come in there.” She looks at me and blushes. She pushes me and I fall on my bed. She sits next to me. “Well plus even worse then that. Now you have detention.” I sit up and smile her. “Its fine ill just finish before 11 it’ll be fine.” “You sure?” She asks me. She looks at me, worried. I look at her. She smiles I hug her. She's taken back for a second. Then she hugs me back. This is nice, I think to myself. Hey slowly pull back after a couple minutes. I smile at her and stand up. “I’ll be right back.” She looks at me, confused. I walk out the door. I scan the walls. There. I go back. “Ok its 4 o’clock. What time is dinner?” Tori pulls out a piece of paper. “5-6.” She says. “Ok we have an hour what do you want to do?” She looks at me thinking. “We could go out by that tree and sit and talk.” I nod and smile. She sets her book back down and we walk out of the common room. We're walking and finally make it outside.

“Singing to myself as I clean these trophies doo da doo da.” I say to myself in a sing song voice. Ughh I'm so bored. I'm almost done though. I check the clock. 9 o’clock ok. Probably another hour.

I scrub the last trophy clean. “Ok done.” I say to myself. I set the trophy back in the case and shut it. I brush my hands on my robes. I walk back to the common room. When I walk in the girls dormitory Toris laying on her bed staring at the ceiling. She hears me come in. “Harper!” She says quietly. I smile at her. “Are you ok?” “I'm fine Tori.” I tell her smiling. “Ok good.” I walk over to my trunk and pull out some leggings and my MHA hoodie. I start changing. Tori turns red and looks the other way. “Are you coming Tori?” “Course I've got to watch you.” She tells me quietly. She gets up, she has sweatpants, a tank top and her curly dirty blonde hair laying on her shoulders. One of the girls sleeping moves a little as the floor creaks. We look at each other scared. She slowly walks towards me. We walk into the common room and sit down by the fireplace. “That was close.” Tori tells me. I nod in agreement. I glance at the clock its 10:30 hmmm. “We should get going.” “Ok” we get up and walk to the door. I stop right in front of her. “Wait.” “What?” “I don’t think you should come Tori.” “Why?” she asks me confused. “It-It's too risky I can't let you get in trouble because of me if we get caught.” She looks at me with a look I've never seen. She smirks at me. “If I get caught it's on me. I do what I want.” She tells me and boops my nose. “boop.” She smiles and walks around me. “Well, that’s settled.” I smile. I follow her out the door. We walk to the place we’re supposed to meet Kayleigh and Ithica. We see them waiting for us.

Chapter 9...

“Hey girlies!” Kayleigh Whispers. “Hey!” I say. “So, what's the plan?” Tori asks. Ithica pipes in. “So, I'll go grab the Marauders map. Then we will follow those footsteps.” She walks off to get the map. Then comes back a minute later. The map in her hands. She hands it to Kayleigh. She looks at it confused. “Hes not on here anymore?” “Let me see.” Ithica tells her and snatches it back. “Huh weird.” “I told you.” Kayleigh says kind of annoyed. “Wait, wait he just popped up.” Ithica says excitedly. “Where?” I asked. The smile fades from her face. “Right there.” She tells us and points behind us. We all turned around. “Where?” Tori says getting scared. This is not good, I think. “Umm guys its walking towards us...” “Your joking, right?” I look back at Kayleigh. She shakes her head scared. I turned back around. Something runs around the corner coming straight for us. Tori grabs my hand. I smiled to myself. After realizing what she had done she let go quickly. A scrawny dust colored cat ran at us then kept running. “What was that?” Ithica says shocked. “You didn’t see it?” I said, everyone shook their heads. “It's was a little dust colored cat?” I said concerned. Kayleigh looks back down at the map. “Um guys it says he’s still in front of us?” Tori walks down where it says Filch is. She goes down to it. Nothing happens but when she comes back, she does pirouettes down the hall still nothing. Huh weird, I think. She shrugs her shoulders and comes back to stand by me. “What time is it?” Ithica looks at the watch on her wrist. “12 o’clock.” She says replying to me. “How are we supposed to follow it if 1. It won't move and 2. He is standing right Infront of us?” I ask wispher screaming. Tori rests her hand on my shoulder and gives me a reassuring look. I lightly blush and nod. “Oh, I have an idea!” Kayleigh says excitedly says. “Yes?” Ithica questions her. “Ok so we get flower and through it where filch is standing.” Ithica hits her hand on her forehead. “And who's going to clean that up.” “True.” I piped in. “Well, I didn’t think that far ahead...” She says sadly “Exactly!” We all say at the same time. All of a sudden...

We are running down that hall so fast my lungs are working hard to keep up. We ran around the corner and into the girl's bathroom. Then stop. “Did we-” I struggle to breathe. “L-lose him?” I asked. “I think so.” Says Kayleigh. “Hello?” We all turned to see a pale moaning Mrytle staring back at us. “Shi-” I start to say, and Tori covers my mouth and gives me a look saying no! “Hey there Mrytle.” Tori says sweetly. “How are you?” Kayleigh pipes in. Ithica and I nod. Myrtle gives us a look to say you guys are so screwed. “So~” She smirks. “What are you all doing out so late?” She asks, pointing an accusing finger. “U-um” I struggle to come up with an excuse. “We were um looking for the bathroom and couldn’t find it.” “Yeah.” I say nodding in agreement with Tori. “And you just so happened to run into the.” She points at Ithica and Kayleigh. “Us to!” Mrtlyes head swings to look at Kayleigh and nods at her statement. “Come on cut us some slack please~” I beg. “Yea I mean come on we’re friends right.” Tori asks with puppy dog eye. I blush and look away then nod. Kayleigh starts to walk off. “Where are you going?” Ithica asks. “To check..Nosy.” “Hey, I just wanted to know...gosh.” I laughed and looked back at Tori. “So, what now?” “Well, I’m not sure I mean it’s not like we figured anything out.” “True but we should probably get back to our common ro-” “Hey!” We turned around to face Ithica who is pail faced. “What's wrong?” “S-Shes gone” “What do you mean she’s gone?” I ask, getting freaked out. “I mean she’s gone...” Ithica runs out of the bathroom. Tori and I look at each other with fear on our faces. We ran out after her. “Wait!” I say calmly and grab a freaked out Ithica. She looks at me with tears starting to form in her eyes. “What exactly happened?” “W-well s-she" “Stop. Breathe in and out.” I started breathing with her. After a few minutes Shes calmed down enough to talk. “Ok go again.” “Well, she said she was going to check if Snape was still there. So, she walked out. After a few minutes I decided to go check on her” When did I miss all this? “When I go out there, I see Kayleigh's shadow and I go after it then when I'm about to reach her... I hear a-a" “A what?” Tori, says clearly intrigued. I gave her a look telling her to chill. “A faint scream. I run around the corner and there no one there!” At this point, Ithica has tears streaming down her face. “Hey hey it's ok. “I say and hug her. “Look at me” She sniffs and looks at me. “We will find her. “Yea” Tori agrees. Tori has a look on her face saying she's getting annoyed. I give her a confused look and she turns away. I looked back at her and realized how close our faces were. “Oh sorry.” I say backing up. “It's ok.” Ithica says wiping the tears off her face. I stand there for a second processing all that has happened. It hit me like a truck. The next thing I know my vision is clouded with tears and Tori is running up over to me. "Hey, what’s wrong?” “I-it just h-hit me Shes, she’s missing.” I started crying harder. “Hey shh shh it's going to be ok.” Tori starts hugging me. I hug back. After a second, I pulled away. “What are we going to do?” Ithica asks walking closer to us. “I don’t k-know.” I say adding nothing to the conversation. “Ok well.” Tori starts talking and looks at me and smiles. I smiled back. “We should go back to our dorms and go to bed and try to get some rest. ‘god I can't sleep.’ I think twisting and turning in bed. ‘This is all my fault’ I start silently cry.” Said a boy Ravenclaw. “Who said that?” “Not sure I just heard it somewhere.” “Oh says the girl who asked him. Tori stops and turns around realising that I had slowed down. “You good?” “Yea,” I tell her and start to walk up to her. “What was that about?” She asks me a confused look on her face. “Oh they were just talking about the sorting hat and I decided to listen.” “um ok.” She says shaking her head and smirking.

“You still worried about that?” “You’re not!” I say shocked. We keep walking. I stop dead in my tracks. “I have an idea.” I say smirking smiling. Tori shakes her head and smiles. “no. Whatever it is with that evil smile the answer is most defiantly no.” She says smiling and keeps walking. I go to catch up. “Oh come on.” I stop right in front of her and put my hand together and give her my best cute anime eyes. “Please...” I say in the cutest way possible. She stares at me her face kind of pink. Her smile fading into a concentrated look. I can tell I'm starting to break her. A minute goes by. She starts to smile and sighs. “Fine let’s hear it.” “Yes! Ok so tonight once everyone goes to bed.” I can tell she's already regretting agreeing to it. “Will go to moaning myrtles bathroom and look for fingerprints.” “Who's fingerprints and why moaning myrtles bathroom?” “Well, filchs fingerprints because he's suspicious I mean as soon as the sorting hat went missing he quit like um what? Then moaning Myrtle's bathroom one because of my dream because it seemed like the same hall I walked down to go to her bathroom two I’ve been in there and she said something about filch being in there.” We walk into the library find a table then sit down. We lean close to each other so no one can hear us. “How do you plan on one not getting caught and two getting filchs fingerprints?” “Not sure.” I say frowning. “wait” I get up and walk over to the Charm books. I run my finger through the books. I look at the clock its 12:36. “Ok we have about an hour to finish this paper. Let's get to work.” “Ok.” I say settling down since I can tell she's getting serious. After about 35 minutes...

“Done!” Tori says. “Almost and... done!” “Yay” It's around 1:10 “Ok we should start going.” Tori tells me. “Ok give me a second.” I grab the books will the disillusionment charm and I go check it out. I walk back over to Tori. “Ok ready.” She smiles and shakes her head. “I was so close.” We both start laughing. After a second of laughing we are rudely interrupted by none other then-. “What are a couple of students like you doing inside on this fine day?” We both turn around to see Snape staring at us with his greasy black hair. “Oh we were finishing the homework you gave us sir.” I say with a little sass in my voice. Tori starts nodding as she's frozen in fear. “Oh?” Snape says an eyebrow raised. “Yes.” I say. Raising my eyebrow as if to say try me. “Well since I'm here would you like to give them to me.” He says as more then a statement then a question. “Well if it wouldn’t be to much of a bother sir.” I say with a little sarcasm. We both hand our papers to him. He snatches them. Looks them over and nods to himself with a look as to say better then I expected. “S-sir?” Tori says after unfreezing and facing him. “Yes Ms.Mason?” “U-um W-where is Professor McGonigal's classroom?” “Oh yes. Down that hall.” He says as he points to a hall on the right of us. “You’ll keep going that way its at the end of the hall Ms.Mason.” “T-thank you sir.” After giving me a dirty look Snape walks away muttering to himself. Something about Potter or something. “So sassy!” Tori says as we start walking to class. “What!” I say giggling. “I don’t like him he's rude so I through some rudeness back at him.” “Thats brave.” Tori tells me smirking. “Yea well I enjoyed it.” I say smiling. We both start laughing and Tori shakes her head. We walk into class. Theres a cat sitting on the teacher's desk at the front of the class. “Aww a kitty. I love kitties there, so cute.” “Yes!” Tori agrees and smiles. We find a seat and sit down. Suddenly as soon as the bell rings the cat that was on the desk turned into the teacher. Every ones jaws dropped. “OK we will start class. We will be learning how to change objects and later on animal and people to different things. Like.” She looks at her desk utters an incantation then suddenly her desk turned into a pig then back into a desk. Everyone started whispering to each other amazing at what had just happened. “Shhhh quiet down. Later in your years you will be able to do this if you decide to keep going with transfiguration. For right now I will have you turning a needle into a bobby pin.” Then she starts passing out needles. “Ok so you’ll want to take out your wands and-”

50 minutes later...

The bell rings. “Ok Class dis-” I raise my hand. “Yes Ms. Jones?” “Professor is it possible to stand in something and it makes you appear somewhere else?” “Well Ms. Jones you have portkeys so if you touch these they can make you appear in a different location which has been set for that specific object. I grab my things and so does Tori and we walk out of the classroom. Once we get out of the classroom. “Are you crazy! I start slowly walking back towards her. I whisper in her ear. “If you know what's good for you you'll keep your mouth shut.” I can feel her heavily breathing. I start backing up. She rolls her eyes. I raise my eyebrows. “Try me. Don’t mess with me or my friends.” I act like I'm about to slap her again but don’t. She flinches and I walk away back towards Tori. Tori keeps walking so I catch up. “What do you want to do?” She looks at me and just stares at me. Her eyes are glossy like she’s about to cry. “You shouldn’t of done that.” She says starting to tear up. “I'm sorry Tori but what was I supposed to do?” “You should of just ignored her that’s what she wanted you to do to react.” We walk outside and sit down on a tree next to the lake. I look down at my feet. “I'm sorry Tori...” I tell her. She doesn't answer. A couple minutes go by. “Hey?” “What.” Tori says tears trickling down her face. “Did I scare you?” Tori looks away and stares at the lake. She starts mumbling but loud enough to hear her. “My parents always fight and yell. Its really scary so I just don’t like fighting.” “Oh.” Tori looks at me. She starts whiping the tears off her face. “You must think I'm pretty pathetic huh?” She asks me. “Not at all. I think you were just scared and that’s fine everyone gets scared.” I scoot closer to Tori and lean my head on her. She's blushing. I think for a second. I raise my head. “Hey.” “Hm?” “What if I make it up to you?” “How?” Tori asks me. “Hmmm.” I think. “Well? What do you want?” I ask her. “Umm anything?” “Anything!” I tell her. She thinks for a second. “Chocolate.” Tori says and smiles. “Chocolate?” I say raising my eyebrows. “Yes.” She nods. Where can I get chocolate? Hmm. Tori stands up. I look up. “What's up?” “I'm bored.” She tells me. “Oh.” I look at her and smirk. “What?” She says turning slightly pink. “Ok hear me out we could go into an empty classroom and practice the disillusionment charm.” Tori puts her hand against her forehead and shakes her head. “Oh my.” I stand up and walk over to her. “Please? Don't make me use my anime eyes.” I tell her we both start laughing. “Fine, let's go.” We walk back into the school.

I see Ashley talking to Snape. I grab Tori’s hand I start running down the hall looking for an empty classroom. I look over and see one and I run in there with Tori and shut the door. Tori’s out of breath. “What was that all about?” She asks me trying to breathe. “Ashley was talking to Snape.” “So?” “Do you not remember the whole slap thing?” “Oh yea. I did forget that.” I start pacing around the room. “what am I going to do? I shouldn’t of hit her.” Tori nods. “Ahh I'm so expelled.” I stop pacing. Tori looks at me. I look at her. “My mom is going to kill me. I'm dead I am so dead.” Tori stands up and walks over to me. I stop pacing and look at her. My eyes filling with tears. Tori grabs my hands and gives them a squeeze. “Hey its going to be ok.” She tells me reassuringly. “No, no its not.” I tell her shaking my head. Tears now running down my face. She rap's her arms around me and hugs me tightly. I hug her back and tears run down my face even more. We hear someone burst in the door and we look over and break apart. “W-we found you! Finally.” “Kayleigh? Ithica?” I say confused. They see the tears running down my face and the awkward look on Toris face. “Um is this a bad time?” Kayleigh asks awkwardly. I relies the tears and rub them off my face quickly. “No no not at all. What's up?” Kayleigh and Ithica look at each other. “Your going to want to see this.” Ithica tells me. “Follow us.” Kayleigh says. I nod and look at Tori. She nods and we follow them. “So Harper I heard you slapped a girl.” Kayleigh said sounding very interested. “Oh you heard about that.” I say shaking my head. “Yes what happened?” Ithica asks me. “Well.” I look at Tori. “This girl Ashley said Tori was a rat and called me a mud blood a few times. So...I slapped her.” I said ashamed of what I had done. “Thats crazy!” Ithica says nodding. “I mean she was asking for it though saying stuff like that to you.” Kayleigh tells me. “Well maybe. But I shouldn’t of hit her.” Tori nods. “Where are we going anyways?” Tori asks. “Filch’s old office.” Kayleigh says excitedly.

Chapter 8...

We walk to Filch’s office once we get there we look around then sneak in the door. “So whats in here?” Tori asks. Ithica goes to a draw and pulls out a piece of parchment. “This.” Ithica says and hands it to me. I give her a confused look. Tori looks at it. “Its just a piece of parchment?” Tori says confusedly. “Just a piece of parchment.” Kayleigh says looking at Ithica smiling. Kayleigh puts her hand out and I hand her the parchment. Kayleigh takes her wand out. “I solemnly swear that I am up to know good.” Then she taps the parchment. Tori and I give each other a confused glance. We look over at the parchment and lines start to form on the parchment. “How did you know it did that?” I ask her shocked. “Well me and Ithica were snooping around.” “Not by my own free will.” Ithica pipes in. Kayleigh looks at her and shakes her head smiling. “Anyway we were snooping around and found this... “Oh ok hmm that’s interesting.” I say thinking to myself after they explain everything that happened. “Ok but this is where things get interesting.” Kayleigh says and hands me the map. The marauders map hmm interesting. “Look.” Kayleigh says and points at a little pair of feet walking down the hall. I read the name. “Argus Filch?” I say confused. Then it hits me. “Oh my god!” “Yea I know right.” Ithica agrees excitedly. “Wait? I thought he quit?” Tori says. I nod my head in agreement. “I know right! So I was thinking...” Kayleigh smirks. “Oh no I know that look.” Tori says. I giggle she looks at me smiling and shaking her head. “So I was thinking later tonight we all sneak out and follow these foot stops.” Kayleigh tells us her plan. Tori and Ithica shake their heads. “I'm in.” I say smirking. “Well I'm going I got to watch you.” Tori says and looks at me. “Same here.” Ithica agrees. “Then its settled. Tonight at 11 o’clock we’ll all meet in this room. Ok?” We all nod our heads. “When we walk out of here we go our separate ways. We cant let anyone get the idea that we’re suspicious.” “Ok.” I say. “We’ll see you guys tonight.” Tori and I walk out of the room and head back to our common room. “Hey?” I say quietly. “What's up?” Tori looks at me a little concerned. “Um I'm sorry about earlier...” “What do you mean?” “You know that whole break down thing and everything that lead up to that.” “Don't apologize. Theres a small group of students circled around a big pile of poop. “Ewww what is that?” I wonder. Snape come walking down the hall. Coming to what all the commotion is I imagine. He see’s me oh no. “Thats not good.” I whisper to Tori as Snape stares me dead in the eye she looks up. She looks at me. “Its going to be ok.” “You seem to be forgetting that I slapped a girl.” Snape gets to us. “Ms.Jones” He looks at me. Im ready to go with him. “Ms.Mason. Lets go.” I look at Tori confused. Wait what did she do? She looks at me terrified. I am so sorry. I mouth to her. We go to follow Snape to what I assume is his office. We walk into his office and he sits down at his desk. We sit at the chairs in front of his desk. “Do you know why you are here?” Snape asks. That’s a scary question. What if its not the fact that I slapped Ashley. I look over I can see Tori shaking next to me. I just want to hug her. Realizing I should get this over with quick. “Because I hit Ahley sir?” “That is correct Ms. Jones.” “Sir if I may?” “Yes?” “Why is Tori here she didn’t do anything?” “That may be correct but i have talked to some of the teachers and they think I should talk to Ms. Mason here to see what happened.” He stops glaring at me and turns to Tori. “So Ms. Mason what happened?” After a couple of minutes she had finished telling him what had happened. “Hmm ok well it seems that Ms. Darcel.” Does he mean Ashley? “Is more at fault here and had started it. Even so Ms. Jones your actions must be considered. You will have on week of detention.” “What will I be doing sir?” I ask confused. “Well with Filch gone. Stuff will need cleaning. So today after you finish eating. You will meet me in the hallway where the trophy shelf is you will be cleaning all of the trophies.” He tells me and gives me a smirk. “Ok sir.” “Well that will be all.” Tori stands up and gives me a glare and walks out. I go after her. Once I get out i see her half way down the hallway. I go to catch up with her. She doesn't say anything. Oh no. We both walk into the common room and I follow her to our dorm. She slams the door . No ones in there. “Have you gone mad!” She yells at me. “What do you mean?” I walk over to my bed where she's standing. “That was so stupid and completely terrifying!” “Look I'm sorry if it was up to me I wouldn’t of had you come in there.” She looks at me and blushes. She pushes me and I fall on my bed. She sits next to me. “Well plus even worse then that. Now you have detention.” I sit up and smile her. “Its fine ill just finish before 11 it’ll be fine.” “You sure?” She asks me. She looks at me, worried. I look at her. She smiles I hug her. She's taken back for a second. Then she hugs me back. This is nice, I think to myself. Hey slowly pull back after a couple minutes. I smile at her and stand up. “I’ll be right back.” She looks at me, confused. I walk out the door. I scan the walls. There. I go back. “Ok its 4 o’clock. What time is dinner?” Tori pulls out a piece of paper. “5-6.” She says. “Ok we have an hour what do you want to do?” She looks at me thinking. “We could go out by that tree and sit and talk.” I nod and smile. She sets her book back down and we walk out of the common room. We're walking and finally make it outside.

“Singing to myself as I clean these trophies doo da doo da.” I say to myself in a sing song voice. Ughh I'm so bored. I'm almost done though. I check the clock. 9 o’clock ok. Probably another hour.

I scrub the last trophy clean. “Ok done.” I say to myself. I set the trophy back in the case and shut it. I brush my hands on my robes. I walk back to the common room. When I walk in the girls dormitory Toris laying on her bed staring at the ceiling. She hears me come in. “Harper!” She says quietly. I smile at her. “Are you ok?” “I'm fine Tori.” I tell her smiling. “Ok good.” I walk over to my trunk and pull out some leggings and my MHA hoodie. I start changing. Tori turns red and looks the other way. “Are you coming Tori?” “Course I've got to watch you.” She tells me quietly. She gets up, she has sweatpants, a tank top and her curly dirty blonde hair laying on her shoulders. One of the girls sleeping moves a little as the floor creaks. We look at each other scared. She slowly walks towards me. We walk into the common room and sit down by the fireplace. “That was close.” Tori tells me. I nod in agreement. I glance at the clock its 10:30 hmmm. “We should get going.” “Ok” we get up and walk to the door. I stop right in front of her. “Wait.” “What?” “I don’t think you should come Tori.” “Why?” she asks me confused. “It-It's too risky I can't let you get in trouble because of me if we get caught.” She looks at me with a look I've never seen. She smirks at me. “If I get caught it's on me. I do what I want.” She tells me and boops my nose. “boop.” She smiles and walks around me. “Well, that’s settled.” I smile. I follow her out the door. We walk to the place we’re supposed to meet Kayleigh and Ithica. We see them waiting for us.

“Hey girlies!” Kayleigh Whispers. “Hey!” I say. “So, what's the plan?” Tori asks. Ithica pipes in. “So, I'll go grab the Marauders map. Then we will follow those footsteps.” She walks off to get the map. Then comes back a minute later. The map in her hands. She hands it to Kayleigh. She looks at it confused. “Hes not on here anymore?” “Let me see.” Ithica tells her and snatches it back. “Huh weird.” “I told you.” Kayleigh says kind of annoyed. “Wait, wait he just popped up.” Ithica says excitedly. “Where?” I asked. The smile fades from her face. “Right there.” She tells us and points behind us. We all turned around. “Where?” Tori says getting scared. This is not good, I think. “Umm guys its walking towards us...” “Your joking, right?” I look back at Kayleigh. She shakes her head scared. I turned back around. Something runs around the corner coming straight for us. Tori grabs my hand. I smiled to myself. After realizing what she had done she let go quickly. A scrawny dust colored cat ran at us then kept running. “What was that?” Ithica says shocked. “You didn’t see it?” I said, everyone shook their heads. “It's was a little dust colored cat?” I said concerned. Kayleigh looks back down at the map. “Um guys it says he’s still in front of us?” Tori walks down where it says Filch is. She goes down to it. Nothing happens but when she comes back, she does pirouettes down the hall still nothing. Huh weird, I think. She shrugs her shoulders and comes back to stand by me. “What time is it?” Ithica looks at the watch on her wrist. “12 o’clock.” She says replying to me. “How are we supposed to follow it if 1. It won't move and 2. He is standing right Infront of us?” I ask wispher screaming. Tori rests her hand on my shoulder and gives me a reassuring look. I lightly blush and nod. “Oh, I have an idea!” Kayleigh says excitedly says. “Yes?” Ithica questions her. “Ok so we get flower and through it where filch is standing.” Ithica hits her hand on her forehead. “And who's going to clean that up.” “True.” I piped in. “Well, I didn’t think that far ahead...” She says sadly “Exactly!” We all say at the same time. We are running down that hall so fast my lungs are working hard to keep up. We ran around the corner and into the girl's bathroom. Tori has a look on her face saying she's getting annoyed. I give her a confused look and she turns away. I stand there for a second processing all that has happened. It hit me like a truck. The next thing I know my vision is clouded with tears and Tori is running up over to me. "Hey, what’s wrong?” “I-it just h-hit me Shes, she’s missing.” I started crying harder. “Hey shh shh it's going to be ok.” Tori starts hugging me. I hug back. After a second, I pulled away. “What are we going to do?” Ithica asks walking closer to us. “I don’t k-know.” I say adding nothing to the conversation. “Ok well.” Tori starts talking and looks at me and smiles. I smiled back. “We should go back to our dorms and go to bed and try to get some rest. "Hey, what are you doing?” She asks and yawns. “I-I just can’t sleep...” I look at her and give her a fake reassuring smile. ‘The last thing I need is Tori worrying about me.’ She looks at me with a blank stare. I stare back. Then she walks over and sits next to me. “Hey talk to me.” “I’m fine.” She looks at me. “Seriously.” I speak. “Oh yea?” “yep” “Well that apple says otherwise. I look at the appl in my hand to see it completely squashed. “Wow can’t get anything past you huh?” “Nope.” She smiles and wraps her arms around me. I look at her. She looks back at me and smiles. I feel my face slightly heats up. I look away. “Ok well tell me what’s up...you know besides the fact that our friend is missing.” “Well, it’s just that I feel like this is all my fault...” “No! Why would you think that?!” She asks louder then need be. “Shhh.” I look at her. “Well, it's just that I'm the one that wanted to go out and explore.” “No, no you can’t just put this all on you. You’ll go mad!” “I can’t help it.” “Listen Harper...This is nobody's fault.” I nod. “say it.” “This is...” “yes” “Nobody fault.” “Good. Now, remember that!” “I will.” "No, I won't... Her words are reassuring but...I still feel so-so guilty.’ “Now come on.” She stands up and holds out her hand. I smile and take it. “Let's get you to bed.” I nodded and grabbed her hand.

“Hey, can you pass me those?” Tori asks and points to some boiled eggs. I smile and nod then hand them over to her. It's been a few months since Kayleigh went missing. I still can't sleep. She’s all over the place. The daily prophet the quibbler you name it she’s on it. “Hey Harp?” I shake my head and look at her. “Y-yes?” She grabs my hand. “Are you ok?” She asks caringly. I noticed that I had started shaking. “Oh yea...I’m good.” “Are you thinking about Kayleigh again?” “How could you just say her name so carelessly?” I ask snatching my hand back from her. She is clearly hurt but tries to hide it. “Well, she's not dead?” “How do you know that?!” People are starting to look at us. I don’t care now. “Why would she be dead?” “Oh, I don’t know Tori maybe because she was kidnapped! What part of kidnapped do you not understand?” The sadness leaves her face and is replaced with anger. “Well maybe~ I don’t just immediately go to the worst possibility!” “Well, most people don’t come back from being kidnapped and...” I paused for a second. “And it's all my fault!” I feel a warm liquid start pouring down my cheeks. I’m crying. In front of all these people. My face gets warm. “Harper?” “You know what forget it!” I say then grab my things. I stormed off leaving Tori with a look of fear on her face. I started walking to Defense against the dark arts wiping the tears from my eyes. People are staring at me and whispering. I couldn’t care less at this point. I walk into the class and aggressively sit down in my seat. Tori comes in a few minutes later and takes her assigned seat next to me. We don’t talk. Though I can feel her gaze on me. The bell rang and the teacher started talking. I space out and the next thing I know the class is over.

It's lunch and I'm eating a sandwich. Tori keeps looking at me. “Take a picture it lasts longer.” I tell her monotone. She blushes. “Harp please...I’m sorry.” “For what?” I look at her and smirk. “For yelling...” She says sarcastically but I can tell she means it. I pulled her into a hug. Ithica

strolls over. Her face is tinted red the same as mine. From crying I would imagine. “Here.” she says and hands me a folded piece of paper. Before I can say anything, she walks away. “Hey wai- and she's gone.” I look at the paper then open it revealing writing. Before I can read it someone walks over and snatches the paper out of my hand. “Hey-” I look up annoyed to see Snape towering over me. “What is this Jones?” He asks me while waving the paper in the air. “It’s um...well quite frankly I'm not sure...” I look at him glaring. “You did take it before I could read it didn’t you?” Snape gives me a look of disgust. “Don’t sass me Jones.” “I look at him and smile. “Oh, I'm sorry sir I meant no disrespect. I was just telling you what you had asked.” I feel a sharp pain in my leg and wince. I look at Tori. She shakes her head slightly. I turn back to Snape and sigh. “Fine. Could I just have my paper back please?” Snape looks down at me. “Hm, I suppose.” I look at him shocked. “But 5 points from Slytherin.” He says quickly seeing the look on my face. I shrug. It’s his loss, I think. He drops the paper on the table and strides away. I look at Tori. “Sorry...” I whisper. “Your fine.” I blush slightly and turn away. Hmm weird..., I think to myself. I clear my throat. “Anyways...the um paper?” Tori’s eyes widen slightly. “Oh yea. We should read that.” I pick up the paper and open it back up. I read it and my eyes widen. “Oh..my...god” I say something starting to cloud my vision. I can’t tell what it is. Tori grabs my arm. “What what’s wrong?!” I can’t respond. I feel myself shaking. “I-I can’t b-breathe.” I manage to say. Tears are streaming down my face. “Tori pulls me into a hug. “Harp?! Harp?! Please c-calm down.” I feel something wet o my shoulder. Its Tori she’s crying. “S-Shes! No NO NO NOOOO.” I'm screaming at the top of my lungs. Tori is holding me tightly. Shes trying to keep me calm. People are starting to crowd us. “Shhh Shhh its ok Harp is ok everything is fine shh shh.” I can’t see anything. Where am I? I feel someone grab my arm and pull me up. I stand up my legs shaking. “NO where are you taking her?!” I hear Tori yell. I look around. Where is she? Where am I? My vision starts to clear, and I spot Tori. I get out of whoever is holding my arms grasp. I run over to Tori and hug her. I don’t want to let go. A teacher pulls me off her and drags me to the infirmary as I'm kicking and flailing my arms. Tori is following behind us a few feet away. We get to the infirmary, and someone plops me on the bed. I sit up. “Lay

down sweetie.” Madam Pomfrey tells me. I shake my head. I look around the room. “Where is she?” “I’m right here Harp.” Tori steps out from behind Snape. She walks over to me and sits down next to me. I hug her. She hugs me back then pulls away and smiles. “Oh dear...” Madam Pomfrey says shaking her head. I look at her. “What?” “Ah young love.” She smiles happily at us. I can feel my face turn bright red. “W-what no! I-I mean we are both girls! Right?” I look at Tori. Shes bright red also. “Yep, we are j-just good f-friends...” Madam Pomfrey nods at me. “Sure~” she says and winks at me. I gulp. Dumbledor steps forward. I look at him. He smiles reassuringly. This brings me back to the present. My eyes widen. “Shes...” I can’t get the last words at. Dumbledor nods. “I’m afraid so...” I look at Tori. She nods. Oh no no no no no, I think to myself starting to shake. Snape steps forward. “Shes dead. She was found last night.” The tears come back, and I feel Tori rap her arm around me. So many thoughts are running through my head. I can’t concentrate on any of them. “How?” I ask barely audible. The teachers all look at me. “What?” Snape asks. “How...? How did she die...?” I ask through tears. Dumbledor steps forward. “We aren’t sure yet.” I stood up quickly. “You don’t even know?!” I through my hands in the air. “This is so stupid. You don’t even know?! Like hell how hard is it to see how someone died?!” I was pacing the room. Tori walked toward me and put her hand on my shoulder. I stopped moving and looked at her. There was that feeling again. That warmth I feel when she touches me. How my heart speeds up like I had just run a marathon. I stare into her eyes. I was interrupted by the sound of something falling. I looked over and saw broken glass on the floor. I looked up and all the teachers were gone.
