The weapon you need, where you need it, when you need it, she’ll get it!

When a gun smuggled into a high-security prison leads to the escape of a brutal criminal, weapons smuggler Joanna Tan is enlisted by the U.S. government to find the man she set loose and bring him down.

This is a smart, interesting and intriguing book. Last issue we left off with Joanna going back for a gun that she was hired to place and now we pick up right where that left off. I really am loving the whole vibe of this book. Joanne is a woman who piques your curiosity in almost every way because she’s damaged and hides it well and she’s damn good at what she does too. Though she has no control over what happens after the gun is placed and the Government is no stranger to killing innocents in the name of Justice, the dynamic we’re seeing is well constructed here. Joanne upon learning of what is happening is going to feel responsible and this isn’t going to sit well with her, Brook’s boss’ so-called righteous anger isn’t needed for her to want to know who is responsible and how to stop them.

I’m a huge fan of the way that this is being told. The story & plot development that we see through how the sequence of events unfold as well as how the reader learns information is presented exceptionally well. The character development that we see through the narration, the dialogue, the character interaction as well as how we see them act and react to the situations and circumstances which they encounter does a marvellous job in bringing these personalities to life. The pacing is excellent and as it takes us through the pages revealing more of the story the more we want to see where this is going to go.

I appreciate the way that we see this being structured and how the layers within the story continue to emerge, grow, evolve and strengthen. I like how we see the layers within the story open up new avenues to be explored, her past, the job(s) and Brooks, all add some great depth, dimension and complexity to the story. How we see everything working together to create the story’s ebb & flow as well as how it moves the story forward is impeccably achieved.

The interiors here are gorgeous. The linework is stellar with its varying weights and techniques being utilised to spotlight the attention to detail that we see throughout the book is absolutely bloody fantastic. We need to see more backgrounds being utilised pure and simple, this coloured stuff is nice and all but i wanna feel the space and spatial awareness. How we see the composition within the panels being done to bring out the depth perception, sense of scale and the overall sense of size and scope to the story is stupendous. The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels show a remarkably talented eye for storytelling. The various hues and tones within the colours are being utilised to create the shading, highlights and shadow work shows a stellar eye for how colour works.

This line of books from Titan Comics really showcases the mystery, murder and makeup of women and how effective and deadly they can be. Don’t ever underestimate what a woman is capable of, point blank period. The writing is smart, sassy and intelligent with strong interesting characterisation and these absolutely lovely interiors really do this story so much justice.
