General Hospital fans wonder if Jon Lindstrom will return as in Kevin Collins

GH fans seek answers on Kevin's status

Jon Lindstrom debuted on General Hospital as Dr. Kevin Collins in 1993 and remained until 2004. He returned in 2013 and was last seen in 2024. He later began portraying Joey Armstrong, a shady casino owner, on Beyond the Gates, which debuted in February of this year. Another recent gig was portraying Roger Hammond in the Lifetime film Pretty Hurts.

Lindstrom's GH fans were concerned that he had left the ABC daytime drama, although initially the soap vet said he was not leaving the action in Port Charles. No official statement has been made by ABC execs, which leaves viewers wondering about the status of the beloved psychiatrist.

Some of his followers have said on social media that they believed he would be seen on both soaps, like Wally Kurth, who does double duty as Ned Quartermaine on GH and Justin Kiriakis on Days of Our Lives. 

Double duty may take a toll

The thing is, the studios for GH and DOOL are in LA and Burbank, California. Beyond the Gates tapes episodes at Assembly Studios in Doraville, Georgia, near Atlanta. It would be difficult for Lidstrom to keep up a dual schedule from different states, although not impossible.

Kirsten Storms took time off from General Hospital to move to Nashville, TN, but she will return to the ABC soap at the end of this year. Rena Sofer continues to portray Lois Cerulo, even though she and her husband relocated to the East Coast.

Kathleen Gati (Liesl Obrecht) and her spouse moved to the East Coast after she was no longer filming GH scenes. She has now returned but has said nothing about her living arrangements.

What will be Kevin's fate on GH?

I can only recall Laura Collins (Genie Francis) mentioning her spouse once since BTG began in February. After Leslie Charleson died in January, Monica Quartermaine was spoken of several times a week until the character's death was recently acknowledged.

GH viewers noticed that once Lindstrom's alter ego, Ryan Chamberlin, died, his twin, Kevin, appeared to fade into the woodwork. There were powerful episodes over the decades when the actor portrayed both brothers. After Ryan's demise, it appeared that his sibling had also been removed from the soap to a degree.

In his last scenes in Port Charles, Lindstrom's character was no more than a sidekick to the mayor. He was a sounding board for her to vent her frustrations, and not in any front-burner storylines.

Is Joey a keeper on BTG?

Lindstrom, having a recurring role on both soap operas, gives fans hope that Kevin Collins will once again grace Port Charles with his presence. A question some General Hospital viewers are asking is whether Joey is a keeper and may obtain contract status on BTG?

Another consideration is this: If the CBS soap is cancelled or the character of Joey is killed off, this will not guarantee that Lindstrom would be front and center again on GH. Currently there is nothing taking place in Port Charles where he would fit into the storyline.

GH ghosts members of Laura's family

Kevin is not the only member of Laura's family to have disappeared. Ace Cassadine (Jay and Joey Clay) has not been seen in a long time. He has only been spoken about by Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahan) when she mentions his trust fund.

Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss) has remained in prison even though many fans had believed he would be out by now. General Hospital fans can only watch and wait and be looking for updates related to whether Jon Lindstrom will return to Port Charles as Kein Collins.
