Jackie Zeman's death stuns General Hospital fans

The world of daytime television is in shock and mourning the death of iconic actress Jackie Zeman, age 70.e Zeman portrayed Nurse Barbara Jean "Bobbie" Spencer on GH for 45 years since 1977. Her untimely death was announced on Twitter by General Hospital executive producer Frank Valenti. Valentini gave the following statement:

On behalf of our ‘General Hospital’ family, I am heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved Jackie Zeman,” Valentini said. “Just like her character, the legendary Bobbie Spencer, she was a bright light and true professional that brought so much positive energy with her to work.”

General Hospital fans are in a state of disbelief at the news and wondering what happened no cause of death has been released at this time. It was only a little over a month ago that GH aired a tribute episode to Sonya Eddy who died in December after an infection following surgery. Last July the GH family was rocked by the news that Harrison Wagoner the son of Kristina and Jack Wagoner who portrayed Felicia and Frisco Jones had died. Now the cast who still is mourning Eddy will be doing a tribute for Zeman at some future date. Eddy portrayed head Nurse Epiphany Johnson and Zeman's death leaves yet another vacant spot although she as not actively working at the hospital.

Bobbie Spencer was a beloved member of the GH cast

Bobbie began as a prostitute but ended up a beloved nurse, mother, and grandmother. Her last love interest was former love Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) but they decided they could not revisit the past and broke up. She recently assisted Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) in preparation for the 2023 General Hospital Nurses Ball because Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) was hiding from Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy).

Bobbi also had the honor of her daughter Carly (Laura Wright) changing her last name from Corinthos to Spencer and she also made amends somewhat with Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) a few months back when she told him that he did not always treat her daughter right but she as thankful Carly could count on him.

Bobbie was the sister of Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary) who she loved dearly. Geary gave a public statement about how much he cared for Eddy after she died. Fans will be looking forward to hearing from Geary now that Zeman has passed away. Some viewers were disappointed when he did not return to the ABC soap for the last days of Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) and will be looking forward to whatever tribute he gives his television sibling. The General Hospital production team also gave a message regarding the actress.

GH viewers had been excited this week because the saga of Victor was over, Willow Tait (Katelynn MacMullen) is about to get er bone marrow transplant, and Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) and Spencer Cassadine ((Nicholas Chaves) are finally together so this news is a big blow,and some fans say they are heartbroken.
