AMERICAN GAMMA!

Who is after Gamma Flight? You’ve been calling for them since IMMORTAL HULK’s early days — well, True Believer, we’re here to deliver. Come to GAMMA FLIGHT for all the radioactive wonder you’ve been missing — and the characters you love to hate.

I am absolutely loving the heck out of this series so far. Mind you I’m not following any of the Hulk titles. I feel like it’s a Doctor Suess series, Gray Hulk, Red Hulk, Green Hulk and more. I’m seriously waiting for a blue and a purple hulk to show up. So for me this is great and mainly because I have no idea where this series hails from but it doesn’t matter to me because when you put Puck, sigh I wanna have a fictional affair with him, Titania and Creel on a team together and I am so there. As a group of wanted felons, for lack of a better word, they’ve got to stay one step ahead of those chasing them and figure out how to fix their situation and fix Rick. So it really is this intriguing and at times darkly humorous story that captures the readers’ mind and imagination.

I love the way that we see this being told. The story & plot development we see through how the sequence of events unfold as well as how the reader learns information is presented exceptionally well. The character development that we see through the narration, dialogue, the character interaction as well as how they act and react to the situations and circumstances which they encounter continue to bring us these larger than life and diverse personalities. The pacing is superb and as it takes us through the pages revealing the story we are left fascinated by the turn of events which we see.

How we see this being structured and how the layers within the story continue to emerge, grow, evolve and strengthen is exceptionally well rendered. The way we see these layers or avenues open up and become explored is where we see the characterisation and plot twists occur as they do wonders in adding depth, dimension and complexity to the story. How we see everything working together to create the story’s ebb & flow as well as how it moves the story forward is impeccably achieved.

The interiors here are absolutely fabulous. The linework we see is strong, clean and crisp and how we see the varying weights and techniques being utilised to create the detail work we see throughout the book is exceptionally well rendered. The creativity and imagination on display here is phenomenal and I love these creatures that we see throughout the book. The way that we see backgrounds being utilised is utterly fantastic as they expand and enhance the moments are beautifully rendered. The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels show a remarkably talented eye for storytelling. The colour work is brilliantly rendered. All these various shades of green are what impress me the most and it does show a brilliant master colourist's eye. The various hues and tones within the colours being utilised to create the shading, highlights and shadow work is phenomenal.

There is a great balance between the action and the story that we see being presented here. While the team is away fighting for their lives Rick, Del and the Doc are having the serious storytelling going on and I have to say they work brilliantly together. The writing here is completely and utterly phenomenal and the characterisation is brilliant shown all the while these sublime interiors are bringing this all to life. This is the kind of series I want to last forever it has everything we could possibly for and so much more.
