Five TV Shows I Think Everyone Should Watch Because I can't Stop Thinking About Them.
I've seen so many TV shows that I feel like I can come up with a short list for this.
A shortlist of the shows that I think left a mark on me. I will be sure to tell you some of the pros as well as the cons because it would be unfair of me to just show you its wonders when nothing in life is perfect, especially Tv Shows.
*I do not own any of the images below*
True Blood

This vampire ( and other supernatural creatures) show is one of those shows that with the pilot they leave you wondering whether or not you should press for the next one. I gave it a try, and let's just say that this show has to funniest scenes in the history of supernatural Tv shows (at least to my knowledge). But as funny as this show is, it does have dark plots that balance the perfect drama ambiance of the show. But I will say if you have a sensitive stomach, DO NOT WATCH IT. I wish someone would have to me about that before I decided to watch that show.
But moving on from that, if you would like to know some of the best things about the show, here are some of the things you can find that can appeal to the masses: the main character has multiple love interests (and yes, they all are hot). The main character is quite the special lady. Everyone has a southern accent (weirdly enough that is one of the main reasons I kept watching the show). Vampires. I think that should be a given... Anna Paquin. Yeah, that's a pro. Godric...(watch the show to see what I mean *wink*).
But every show has things that might be an immediate turn-off, and this show might have a couple: A lot of naked parts (unless you don't mind it, ya know). A lot of sexual content. Gore. Like a lot of it. Some slurs are thrown around. Murder. Drug usage (?) this one is a little hard to explain because it's just not your usual suspects. Mental health issues like PTSD.
Honestly, those are one of the main things I can remember without giving too much away. This is like a more mature version of The Vampire Diaries, but that's one of the many things that give appeal to this show. I will say that it's not for everyone but if you are planning on watching this show, do it at your own discretion.
The Vampire Diaries

As weird as it may sound, I grew up watching this show which; I was 10 at the time. This is my all-time favorite Tv show and so far no one has been able to take it down from the pedestal I have it on. Maybe my second favorite Tv show can make a fight for the spot, but TVD will forever hold a special place in my heart. I started watching this show because of Twilight (like most people did) and the very first season feels like it. But this is one of the few shows that I think worked each season beautifully because everything connected to the next big villain of the show and it did not feel unnecessary.
In this show, you will find almost everything that makes a show worth watching such as never-ending drama, love triangles, unexpected friendships, bromances, and hot villains who you will love more than the good guys. I will never get tired to see my favorite villain come on screen with his evil smirk. Man, I love the show.
But, on the other side of this coin, there are things that annoy me. And it's only fair, I give the reason(s) why. For one, one of the main characters--Elena Gilbert--is, for lack of better words--whiny. Don't get me wrong, there have been instances where I loved her, but I mostly find her annoying. Another con point would be that there isn't a moment to breathe as there is always information thrown around and it might be hard to catch on to it. I've watched this show so many times. yet I always find something that makes me go, 'oh... I get it now.' It might be just me, though. I'm a little dumb. There are also some other issues that I feel like if I say them I will have to explain too much, so I won't go over them, but I will say that if you plan on watching this show, be aware of the trigger warning to non-con topics.
Buffy: The Vampire Slayer

Now, this is a show that my mom watched when she was younger, and I was introduced to it by her. But I never got around to watching it until I was sixteen. I liked it a lot the first time I watch it--not more than TVD--for sure, but when I watched it again about two months ago, I realized that I did NOT appreciate the show as much back then. I gotta say, though, I haven't seen the money which is like a prologue to the show. Also, f*ck Joss Whedon, but d*mn him for making a good show.
This show, similar to the ones above, is all about the supernatural world, especially vampires. As seasons come, it turns into a more complex show which I honestly love. Every season brings in something new, whether that is a new badass villain or better drama. In this show you will learn to love and hate every single character, you will find yourself wanting to click the 'next episode' button because of every other amazing episode, this show was made in the '90s--the clothing and aesthetic are almost addicting that will make you want to dress like either Buffy, Willow, or Cordellia if you are that deep into feminine fashion. The comedy? Amazing. The drama? Grand. The angst? I cried.
But, as amazing I think I'm making the show to be, this show isn't just another typical supernatural show. This show addresses so many topics that I don't think are a bad thing, but someone out there might be a trigger and would want to avoid the show. There are mentions of mental health issues, and adult content--both in the 'good' light and the bad light--and there are times that certain topics will come up that as a society now we see as problematic, but back in the early '90s wasn't.
I recommend the show, but as usual, watch at your own discretion.
Friends

Alright, a big change from the big three up there, but I'm trying to show you that not all my shows are fiction.
This show was only introduced to me by my little brother who is obsessed with it. I never really wanted to watch it, but the number of times I watched some episodes with him out of context was too many; I ended up sitting through it. And the end of the day, it wasn't my favorite, but I did enjoy a couple of episodes and I learned a lot about life.
As overrated as this show might be to most people, there is a reason why is talked about as much as it is. It is a relatable show. This is about a group of friends in their twenties that still live together, have no idea where life will take them, have fears and doubts like everyone else, and what nothing but be able to not look back and regret their youth. These people don't obtain must of until almost ten years into the show. That's when they start getting into serious relationships, get married, have kids, and have their dream jobs. As funny as the show is, you will find yourself in one or more characters throughout the run of the show. You will invest yourself in their lives because maybe it resembles a bit of yours. You will be sad, happy, angry, shocked, amazed, surprised, and almost every other emotion you can think of because you will see nothing but you and/or your friends through them. Again, it is a relatable show.
But as the show is set in the early '90s like Buffy, this show will have some humor that might not be funny now and some character traits might seem problematic or just a character in general *cough* Ross *cough*.
Go watch, cry a bit, and tell me what you think.
Grimm

Sorry, I had to add one more show that was all fiction because, yes, that is what I mostly watch. So what? It allowed me to find this gem.
Another show I grew up with was Grimm. Based on the Brothers Grimm fairytales, this show merges the realm of fantasy with a cop show. Honestly, it is a mix I wasn't sure was going to work when I heard about it, but I was intrigued because I knew about the fairytales. My mom likes them, so I read those first instead of the Disney ones. To say that I am obsessed with this show, would be an understatement. This is the show that rivals TVD.
Man, with just the pilot episode I was hooked. Not many shows have a pilot episode that you think is so good you can rewatch it without seeing every little mistake. This show is probably one of the few shows that had me excited by the end of it that I couldn't wait for the next to come. The mix between having the main character be a Detective in Portland, OR, and having him have the ability to see the 'monster' within some people is truly immaculate. You either want to be like Nick Burkhardt and be able to see those who are hiding their true nature or be one of those who have within them a primal animal or other creature that kind of gives you an upper hand when it comes to the cycle of life.
This is a relatively good show even when you find out that the writers had literally no idea what came next. It was mostly a 'let's put this here and see what happens' type of show, and it worked wonders. The drama of the show is amazing, it connects every single dot together even though it only came up once in season one until season six. You will hate some and love some, you will be shocked, you will be troubled, and you will learn about the Wesen world along with Nick as he finds himself forced to be a Grimm just like his ancestors.
The only bad thing about this show that I can think of is Juliette and the fact that the show got canceled back in 2017 like most shows did that year.
Conclusion: I love anything that takes me away from reality for a second, but I can appreciate life every once in a while when there aren't any vampires or other types of fictional creatures on screen. That aside, all these shows are taught me something whether that is don't rush life because everything comes when it's supposed to or that love prevails all no matter what kind of love it is. I hope you give these shows a chance if you haven't and if you have, hey, you can let me know what you think. Even better if you can recommend a show or two!
