Family Matters viewers were cheated out of a Steve and Laura Wedding
No happy ending with a honeymoon or baby Urkel.

Urkel and Laura the beginning
Steve Urkel (Jaleel White) and Laura Winslow (Kelly Shanygne Williams) were neighbors on Family Matters, which ran on ABC from September 22, 1989 – May 9, 1997. The final season was on CBS from September 19, 1997, to July 17, 1998.
Along the way, Urkel is an annoying neighbor, but he declares his love for Laura and never wavers, even when dating Myra Monkhouse (Michelle Thomas).
Steve's high-pitched voice, oversized glasses, suspenders, high-water pants, and awkward, clumsy demeanor made him a laughing stock at school, but unknown to viewers, Laura was steadily falling in love with him.

Not a catch and not a match
Despite being socially awkward, Steve is highly intelligent and has invented many unique gadgets and scientific experiments that usually go wrong. Sadly, the move to CBS was the end of the popular series, and fans did not get to see the one moment they had been waiting for, the wedding of Urkel and Laura.
Family Matters viewers enjoyed Urkel's many catchphrases. He destroyed things and caused calamity. He drove cars through the Winslows' home, broke windows, busted through walls, and started fires.
His response was always, "Did I do that?" Every time Laura showed a small amount of empathy or compassion, Steve replied, "I'm wearing you down, baby!" "I'm wearing you down."
Not the ending fans were hoping for
Eventually, he did, and she agreed to marry him, but fans were cheated out of the wedding. This would have been the best way to end the series, but CBS was not invested. During the nine-year run of Family Matters, many fans didn't see Laura changing her mind about Steve.
There was no gradual building up or viewers watching her as she dealt with her conflicting emotions. When she finally admitted she loved him, it seemed to come out of nowhere, but those watching were excited, and the audience screamed with delight.
During the final season, Steve lives with the Winslows because his parents have moved to Russia. He watched for nine years as Laura fell in love with and dated many different guys. Urkel suffered through her fall in love with his alter ego creation, Stefan Urkelle, a cool version of the nerdy Steve.
Living under the same roof, Laura eventually began seeing her "pest' differently. They once even saw each other naked in the shower. When he proposed and Laura accepted, fans expected a wedding, which never came.

Changing networks takes a toll
The show seemed to decline after switching networks, courtesy of Disney. Some fans believe that problems began when JoMarie Payton left the show midway through Season 9, and JudyAnn Elder began portraying Harriet Winslow.
This change in actresses bothered some fans, and the dynamic of the series was never the same. There have been stories about the Family Matters cast not getting along and tension between Peyton and White being the reason she left the sitcom.
According to Peyton, White tried to fight her midway through season nine, but he has downplayed the incident in interviews. Be that as it may, you could not tell anything was going on once the cameras were rolling.
No Joanie and Chachi happy ending
I recall believing that Laura and Steve would have a wedding like the one on Happy Days, where Joanie Cunningham (Erin Moran) married Chachi Arcola (Scott Baio). Joanie and Chachi grew together during Happy Days, and fans were invested.
Steve's Urkel image made viewers laugh so much that they probably could not even consider that Laura would take him seriously. Still, once the couple was engaged, I imagined Carl Winslow (Reginald Veljohnson) making a toast to the couple as Howard Cunningham (Tom Bosley) did for Joanie and Chachi.

Cheated out of the ideal ending
Some fans of the sitcom thought Laura would marry Stephan, but that would not have been fair to Steve. Others assumed early on that Myra would win Steve's heart, but that did not happen either.
Laura Winslow decided that she loved the nerdy Steven Quincy Urkel, who did mature and change somewhat over the years, but maintained his overall personality.
The fans who stuck with Family Matters should have been given the courtesy of being able to watch the wedding and the honeymoon. Wouldn't it have been wonderful to find out Laura was pregnant with a baby Urkel and to hear Steve utter one more time, "Did I do that"? Sadly, we were all cheated out of our moment.
