Every Video Game Remake In Secret Level
Obsidian's Futuristic RPG Has Nearly Endless Replayability

The streaming service is planning to adapt a number of well-known video games, some more well-known than others, in anticipation of Prime Video's Secret Level. Secret Level will continue the trend of integrating well-known IPs into a televised format, following the success of Prime Video's Fallout. Video game adaptations have been on the upswing in recent years. In addition to Fallout, the platform launched Like a Dragon: Yakuza in 2024, is working on a Tomb Raider series, and Secret Level will be joining its lineup of video games.
With Keanu Reeves, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Kevin Hart, Claudia Doumit, Ariana Greenblatt, and numerous other well-known actors confirmed for the project, the cast demonstrates how alluring quality video game adaptations are these days. The first season of Secret Level will consist of 15 episodes, each of which will follow a distinct IP. One of the episodes will be a mash-up of different PlayStation characters. Given that some of the franchises made their debuts as recently as 2024, viewers will probably be interested in learning more about the games being adapted as well as their plots.
Warhammer 40,000
Last but not least, Secret Level will feature an episode of Warhammer 40,000, another tabletop game that has entered the video game industry. In essence, players take turns moving their figures across the battlefield, taking on their opponent's warriors. The rules are a little confusing for those who are unfamiliar with them. The futuristic warfare has some intriguing backstory, which is why it fits so well in the gaming industry and is even receiving a TV series. Despite its very narrow concept, the franchise has grown significantly and produced a number of video games as a result.
Unreal Tournament
Players compete against each other in a variety of game types in Unreal Tournament, which helped pioneer the arena shooter genre. Although the majority are team-oriented, most games also have a free-for-all mode, making them enjoyable for single players as well. The focus of Unreal Tournament is on players in cramped areas attempting to shoot each other down and accomplish a particular goal while acquiring weapons and armor. Each edition offers something a little different. Unreal Tournament is remains a key component of contemporary shooters, despite the franchise's lack of recent activity due to its simple idea.
The Outer Worlds
As The Outer Worlds established itself in the RPG genre, one of 2019's biggest blockbusters became an immediate classic upon its release. The narrative is set in the Halcyon star system in a dystopian future where megacorporations start invading space. With six categories to spend skill points in and a wide range of weaponry available for players' customizable characters to wield, the Outer World offers a unique experience for all. The Outer World is as recognizable as games like Fallout because it has so many distinct locales and personalities, which explains why Prime Video is interested in the IP.
Spelunky
Over time, successful independent games have proliferated, but few have achieved the same level of success as Spelunky. The platformer, which debuted in 2008, left a lasting effect as players search for wealth in caves while dodging foes and traps. Although the idea is straightforward, there are secrets to discover and an infinite amount of replayability due to the randomly created levels. Spelunky's endearing setting and subtly evolving mythology should make for an enjoyable Secret Level episode. The game also has a sequel, which is more intricate and packed with more material.
Sifu
Based on a story of retaliation, Sifu is a superbly designed fighting game. Players take control of a martial arts student who wants to exact revenge on those who killed his father. The game features a compelling linear plot with an amazing spare or kill mechanism, and the creative graphics give the Chinese setting a new vibe. Players can kill bosses or destroy their structure a second time to spare them after battling against waves of opponents, which will result in a more tranquil conclusion. After every defeat, the character in Sifu aged thanks to a special system.
Playtime
Several PlayStation IPs will be featured in a single episode of Playtime. The episode and the featured franchises are therefore unpredictable, however God of War is the most well-known. Sony has made the award-winning third-person action series its flagship game, and this trend is probably here to stay. A Ghost of Tsushima movie is in the works, so seeing the gorgeous open-world adventure game come to life in Prime Video's new series will be a strong indication of its big-screen potential. Jin Sakai also appears in the teaser for Secret Level.
Pac-Man
The iconic arcade game Pac-Man is well-known to most people, yet the franchise has evolved throughout time. The basic objective of the original game is to assist Pac-Man in gathering all the dots in a maze while avoiding being apprehended by the four ghosts that are pursuing him. Since its debut in 1980, Pac-Man has expanded into a number of other genres, including platformer and sports games, and has even been featured in several TV series. It's no wonder Secret Level chose it for a distinctive adaptation given the Ms. Pac-Man spinoff's great popularity and increased the IP's size.
New World
New World is a well-known MMORPG that possesses every characteristic that is typical of the genre. The quality qualities that have made New World so well-liked include crafting, PvP components, and almost infinite quests. Although New World: Aeternum is not a brand-new game, the upgrades and modifications give it a distinct feel from the original 2021 project, and the supernatural aspects of the IP make it stand out. It's simple to spend several hours playing it because there are so many different classes and ways to play, and the unique universe should make for an excellent adaptation.
Mega Man
Given the popularity of the platformer series, it is not surprising that Mega Man appears prominently in the trailer for Secret Level. Even though Capcom owns a number of well-known IPs, Mega Man has been a global favorite since the 1980s. Mega must defend the Earth when Dr. Wily reprogrammes Dr. Light's robots in this action-packed, fast-paced game that has managed to hold onto its reputation as a fan favorite series. Players take control of the likeable protagonist in this classic 2D sidescroller, utilizing his robotic arm to shoot his way past foes and reach the conclusion of each level.
Honor of Kings
Secret Level is demonstrating its enthusiasm for different types of games, including Honor of Kings, rather than only attempting to capture the largest intellectual properties. Honor of Kings, one of the most popular MOBAs of the past ten years, has achieved considerable popularity despite being a mobile game. As they and their colleagues attempt to destroy their opponents' crystal, which is within the enemy base, players take control of unique characters. Players can level up their individual characters and accounts to enhance skills, and the gameplay is similar to games like League of Legends and Dota.
Exodus
Exodus will appear in Secret Level, however the game has not yet been given a release date. The plot takes place on a hazardous planet after humans are forced to leave Earth, but there aren't many information available about the game's idea yet. Players will fight against alien forces called Celestials in an effort to live; the sci-fi action game has already released a number of trailers for the project. Although it's unknown how well-liked Exodus will be in comparison to Secret Level's past titles, the game's original plot and excellent cinematography are encouraging early indicators.
Dungeons & Dragons
Dungeons & Dragons began as a tabletop game and has since expanded into the video gaming industry with a number of spinoffs. The initial idea was for a Dungeon Master to narrate stories about the players' characters, either individually or collectively, with choices and dice rolls determining their fate. Though they have all had differing degrees of success, Baldur's Gate 3 2023's Game of the Year win demonstrated the franchise's enduring legacy. Its video game counterparts are typically role-playing games set in a fantasy world, where players take on unique enemies and develop relationships with other characters.
Crossfire
Since Crossfire became one of the most well-liked shooters in Asia, its dominance has lasted far longer than Concord's. Crossfire may not be well-known in the West, but its straightforward gameplay and competitive spirit helped it attract players. In the free-to-play game, players compete against each other in traditional game modes such Free for All and Team Deathmatch. The game has made over $10 billion, making it one of the highest-grossing games of all time and inspiring both movie and TV versions, even though many players are unaware of its existence.
Concord
Concord was far from the success tale Sony was hoping for, despite its enormous potential. Sony canceled the project just a few weeks after it was launched, making the cancellation of Concord's Secret Level episode—which apparently cost upwards of $200 million—even more strange. The hero shooter's rapid downfall was caused by its lack of compelling characters and original concepts, which prevented it from competing with games like Overwatch.
With 16 distinct characters to pick from, players faced off against five other players in teams of five in a number of game types. The lineup wasn't distinctive enough from its rivals, even with its future setting, and the $40 price tag didn't help either. Although the graphics were outstanding and the game had several entertaining aspects that worked well, Concord ultimately followed the same hero shooter model as other games available on the market, with its lore hardly taking off.
Armored Core
Armored Core has a lot to offer, even though it wasn't one of the first franchises that people anticipated Prime Video's Secret Level to adapt. In the third-person shooter, companies battle for control of the new world, which results in mech-based combat, set in a version of Earth where society has been driven underground. By customizing their mechs to tackle particular opponents, players can create some intriguing conflicts that are exclusive to the franchise. Armored Core made its debut in 1997, yet it's still relevant today since the future warfare style keeps evolving with each new game.
