Enter the Moon Knight-Verse?
Marvel presents the possibility of various Moon Knight personas in the main continuity.

Moon Knight Issue #3 by Jed MacKay and Alessandro Cappuccio shows us what could be Moon Knights most formidable villain in action: Hunter’s Moon. This foe presents himself as the other fist of Khonshu (as seen in the final page of issue #1) and attacks Moon Knight do to the apparent “sacrilege” he has committed by giving shelter to Vampires. During the intense altercation after his assistant, Reese, tells Marc about Hunter’s Moon attacking the vampires under his protection, Marc learns of an apparent “psychological process” that the Fists of Khonshu go through to fight as a warrior of the Egyptian moon god should.
Hunter’s Moon calls it The Gift of the Chorus, a process in which the memories of past Fists of Khonshu are implanted into the warrior’s mind—gifting him or her with the knowledge, memory, and skill of the previous warriors. This brings forth the concept of more than one Moon Knight again—and maybe an opportunity for us to see them in action!

Now, this is definitely not the first time we have heard of the past Moon Knights—far from it! In Moon Knight Annual #1: Acts of Evil! by Cullen Bunn, Ibrahim Moustafa, and Matt Horak, Kang the Conqueror takes Marc on a time-traveling, action packed extravaganza where we see the Fists of Khonshu in all their glory. We get to meet various versions of the moon god’s warriors, including an anti-nazi soldier, a Roman warrior, a mafia member, and even a cowboy. We get our very own Moon Knight-verse event, only with different timelines instead of parallel universes.

We haven’t gotten another glimpse into Moon Knight’s past iterations ever since, but Hunter’s Moon’s claims bring a very interesting turn of events to the table. Like he says, Khonshu has two fists—Moon Knight is one and Hunter’s Moon is the other. Were there past versions of the Hunter’s Moon before this one? Hidden in the unknown trenches of history? If so, will Marc begin to dive into the Gift of the Chorus himself and find newer versions of the caped, lunar defenders throughout history? Knowing how Marc’s mind works, we might just get to see them and even more than that, we might see interaction among the Fists of Khonshu within his mind and learn more of their history.
Maybe Marc decides to set his priorities in keeping an eye on the little folk of the city, and keep working on his recovery with the government-mandated psychologist hired by The Avengers after The Fist of Khonshu event. But there will always be the open opportunity for us to see Marc dive into the Gift of the Chorus, find out more of the past Hunter’s Moons and see more awesome past (and future) Moon Knights in action! Although seeing Cowboy Moon Knight again might be a real treat.

I guess we’ll have to wait for Issue #4, coming out October 20th. One thing’s for sure, while we wait for Marc to dive into the mystical and unknown aspect of the Moon Knight universe—we will get lots of action from our favorite Fist of Khonshu. As long as we are sure to remember, never to mess with those under his protection—ever.
