Creature Commandos Episode 7 Ending Explained

By WHB KHNPublished 12 months ago 5 min read

The first season of the new DCU animated series comes to a close with Creature Commandos episode 7, which also teases a new chapter for Task Force M and reveals the origins and backstory of Nina Mazursky, also known as The Mermaid. The situation in Pokolistan is also resolved. Princess Ilana Rostovic has now had to face the truth, and this final episode finally lays it out. But there are some unexpected turns in the season finale.

After being shown Circe's vision of the future in which the Pokolistan monarch causes WWIII and a massive global takeover, Amanda Waller ordered Task Force M to reassemble in order to kill Princess Rostovic. This was demonstrated in the previous episode of Creature Commandos, episode 6. But recently, Rick Flag and Eric Frankenstein found evidence that suggests the vision may not have been real. In light of that, as the truth is eventually exposed in Creature Commandos episode 7, here is our recap and final analysis.

Five Spoilers for Creature Commandos Episodes and Important Story Points

Nina Mazursky was born with her lungs outside her body and full of liquid, however her scientist father Edward constructed a temporary apparatus to keep her alive, according to the seventh episode of Creature Commandos.

Nina questions whether Task Force M is doing improperly by attempting to kill Princess Ilana, while Eric Frankenstein is seen riding in a taxi to Castle Rostovic to meet up with The Bride.

Security footage of Clayface meeting the princess from a few days prior is found by Task Force M.

Lily, Nina's mother, departs because she believes Nina's quality of life is lacking. Nina's DNA is later altered by Edward, transforming her into "The Mermaid" with fins and gills, which means she needs water to breathe.

Ilana doesn't back down and goes swimming in the morning, while Task Force M locates a way to enter the castle courtyard.

Because Princess has been kind to him and reminds him of the girl he attempted to save, Weasel is reluctant to kill her.

Nina runs away from home to live in the sewers and rivers after being shunned and harassed at school.

After emerging from his coma, Flag informs Amanda Waller that she was mistaken about the Princess. This makes Waller and John Economous think that Circe was lying, which drives them to look into and learn the truth about McPherson and Clayface.

Nina is persuaded by Task Force M to murder the Princess while swimming underwater.

A public search is launched for The Mermaid's capture after Nina is documented in Star City. When she is apprehended, Edward attempts to make his way through the mob to reach Nina, but the cops shoot him.

Weasel warns the Princess of Nina's underwater presence in an attempt to save her. Just as Waller calls to cancel the hit, Nina is killed by the Princess after a struggle.

Following the incident, the Bride meets with Illana and learns that although Circe was telling the truth, Ilana had recruited Clayface to undermine the vision's credibility because she really wanted to spark World War 3.

Before she departs Pokolistan with Weasel and Doctor Phosphorus, the Bride murders the Princess in retaliation for Nina's passing.

John Economos introduces Bride to her new crew, which includes King Shark, Weasel, an enhanced G.I. Robot, She-Bat, Doctor Phosphorus, and what appears to be Aten or Khalis.

The existence of Eric Frankenstein is confirmed in the Creature Commandos post-credits scene.

The Conclusion of Creature Commandos Episode 7 Explained

The Bride decides to follow her instincts and firmly believe that Circe's vision was real and that Illana truly intends to ignite the next World War because of the security tape that Task Force M discovered during their original break-in, which shows Clayface with Rostovic days earlier. Illana had wanted to dispel all doubt about her and her intentions for her country until it was much too late, so she had recruited Clayface to pretend to be Professor Mcpherson in order to undermine her credibility when she confirmed the vision. However, The Bride's decision to pull the gun and shoot the princess in the head was not primarily motivated by that.

The Bride affirms immediately before killing Ilana that she is killing the princess mostly because she killed Nina, although if Circe's ominous vision of the future being real undoubtedly helped. The Bride's lone friend was Mazursky, and he was also the only monster on Task Force M with genuine compassion. Therefore, it is quite distressing to witness The Bride leaving the castle and returning to Belle Reve while crying, adding to the already tragic nature of Nina's death.

An explanation of the DCU's new Creature Commandos roster

At the very end of Creature Commandos episode 7, it is revealed that Waller chose to reward The Bride by turning one of Belle Reve's wings into a special area for Task Force M, regardless of her personal motivations. John Economos affirms that this also applies to the new members of The Bride's crew. Following the Pokolistan mission, Task Force M still has Doctor Phosphorus and Weasel, but it appears that Waller has also brought on a few new members.

Doctor Phosphorus is seen playing Ping-Pong with what appears to be Francine Langstrom, also known as She-Bat (wife of the Batman villain Man-Bat), in the last scene of Creature Commandos episode 7 in Belle Reve. Previous episodes of Creature Commandos featured a brief appearance of She-Bat. Likewise, the new Task Force M facility features a mummy crocheting in the backdrop. This might be Khalis II, a mummy doctor who appeared in the New 52 iteration of the Creature Commandos, or Aten, a mummy communications specialist in some of the team's early rosters on the page.

An enhanced G.I. Robot appears next to Weasel, as it appears that Waller had him rebuilt (with a much larger body). Last but not least is Nanaue, also known as King Shark, who joined Task Force M in a strange but exciting and appropriate way after serving with Task Force X in 2021's The Suicide Squad. Diedrich Bader voices King Shark in Creature Commandos episode 7, whereas Sylvester Stallone did so in the live-action James Gunn film.

The Future and Fate of Rick Flag's Creature Commandos Described

After his battle with Clayface, Rick Flag awoke from his sleep long enough to alert Waller. Therefore, it is quite likely that Flag will eventually heal from his wounds. But now that The Bride appears to be leading Task Force M moving forward, his involvement with the group may be coming to an end. Frank Grillio's character Rick Flag, who has been confirmed to make live-action appearances in both Peacemaker Season 2 and 2025's Superman, also has a future in upcoming DCU projects.

An explanation of the post-credits scene from Creature Commandos episode seven

A brief post-credits sequence at the conclusion of Creature Commandos episode 7 confirms that Eric Frankenstein survived The Bride's numerous shootings (and spitting on him). Therefore, it makes sense that Eric will be featured in Creature Commandos season 2 in an attempt to get back together with his "love" once more. He is shown with his gypsy informant, who gives him "sparrow-dropping" soup, in the post-credits sequence.
