Cameron Matheson and Sydney Walsh join cast of 'General Hospital'

New characters in Port Charles rub some viewers the wrong way.

General Hospital has hired 2 new actors, Cameron Matheson and Sydney Walsh to the cast. Many fans are still reeling from the fact that 4 characters that viewers enjoyed were let go recently. Julian, Dustin, Lulu, and Dev were given their walking papers, and now the powers that be are hiring additional people. Sydney Walsh debuted last week as Maggie, the cellmate of Alexis Davis in Pentonville. It's not known yet if she will turn out to be a friend or a foe. On Friday, Maggie was working on some papers and Alexis, who was an attorney let her know that she could help her.

Those who watch General Hospital have been saying on social media that they do not like prison stories and are especially disturbed that Alexis will spend time in Pentonville. fans are also disgruntled that new characters are being added to the cast while fan favorites have been fired. For whatever reason the powers that be are doing their own thing and not keeping in mind the loyal viewers who are the reason the ABC daytime drama continues to remain on the air.

Sydney Walsh was born on June 6, 1961, and is well known for her role in Hooperman. Her character Maureen "Mo" DeMott, was a police officer who made passes her gay partner in an attempt to turn him straight. Walsh also had roles in quite a few television series, including Hunter, Who's the Boss? Murder She Wrote, Teamo Supremo, The Twilight Zone, The Practice, T. J. Hooker, Equal Justice, The Young Riders, Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, and Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction. In 1990 she appeared in the ABC drama Sunset Best.

The actress also appeared on Daddy Dearest and had recurring roles on two soaps. She was on the daytime drama The Young and the Restless and the prime time soap Melrose Place. Sydney Walsh might also be familiar to viewers for her film credits which include Three Men and a Little Lady, Point Break, Auggie Rose, American Gun, and A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge.

Cameron Matheson began his career as a model and doing commercials in the United States, Canada, and England.December 1997, He was hired in Dewcember 1997 to portray Ryan Lavery on All My Children. In 1999 he won the Soap Opera Digest Award for Outstanding Male Newcomer. In 1999 Mathison won the Soap Opera Digest Award for Outstanding Male Newcomer and 2000 he was named by People magazine as one of "America's 100 Most Eligible Bachelors".

The actor earned Daytime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in 2002 and 2005. He was on season five of Dancing with the Stars in 2007 and placed 5th with his partner Edyta Sliwinska. Matheson workiedfreelance for Good Morning America for several years before being hired as a regular correspondent in 2009. He has also appeared in Hot in Cleveland, Desperate Housewives, the Exes, Drop Dead Diva, and Castler. In 2014 he began a 9 movie run with Allison Sweeney for Hallmark/Crown based on the Murder she baked Books. he also has been a full time correspondent for Entertainment Tonight.

There is no news in regard to what character Cameron Matheson will play in Port Charles. The rumor mill suggests he might be a resurrected Drew Cane or portray Steve Weber. Be on the lookout for updates related to Matheson's role on General Hospital and how Sydney Walsh as Maggie will fit into the scheme of things.
