Fade In:

We view Earth from space. It rotates slowly as the moon peeks out from behind in orbit.

Zoom To:

EXT. Rainforest – Morning

The leaves glisten with residual rainwater. The sun twinkles through the dense canopy. An unusually small Emerald Tree Boa peers into the camera almost completely camouflaged. It blinks. A Red-Eyed tree frog leaps across the screen. We follow it as it lands precariously on a thin branch. It looks back towards the boa being eaten by a rather large goliath bird eater. We zoom into the eyes of the spider as the sound of it eating grows uncomfortably loud.

Cut To:

EXT. Mt. Hellympia – Morning

A verdant Mountain rest on a foggy morning. The mountain rumbles. Birds flee from the trees and fauna stampede down the mountain. Smoke begins to rise from the summit.

Cut To:

EXT. Farm Village – Morning

An old man rides on an ox drawn carriage fully loaded with goods. Two young girls run past. A motherly looking woman leaves the general store with two straw baskets of goods. A young male tosses piles of hay into a feeding trough. He drives his pitchfork into the ground and wipes the sweat from his brow. The girls continue to run towards the edge of the village. The first little girl bumps into someone and falls. The second girl runs up and kneels down beside the first. The slowly look up. DemonLord Vandel stands over them. He smiles and reveals a mouth full of sharp teeth. A single reptile like eye glows through his thick hair. The two girls cower together. Two hellhounds exit the forest behind the Man and begin to growl at the girls now in tears. In the center of the village everything comes to a halt at the sound of the two girls screams. A large black fireball flies from the forest and crashes into the general store with a catastrophic explosion. The Old man is thrown off his carriage as his oxen run off in fear. A second black fireball lands on the old man and leaves a huge crater in the middle of the village. From the flames Hellhounds and Imps leap and attack the villagers. Demonlord Vandel Watches from the edge of the Forest. The flames flicker in his lightless eyes. Tears well up in his eyes and stream down his cheek. The tears glisten and fall into black. A loud CRACK rings out.

Cut To:

INT/ EXT. Xanxus’ Apartment – Night

Xanxus springs up in a cold sweat. He breathes heavily. He holds his face with one hand. Xanxus looks over to his nightstand. His phone reads “3:45am.” Some pills and a half empty glass of water sit on the nightstand.

Xanxus

How many times have I had to change these?

Xanxus gets out of bed. He digs into his night stand and pulls out a joint. He walks through the living room and exits to his balcony. He leans over the rails and lights the joint. The moon is full. An Image of Vandel with his back to the camera standing in a burning village flickers in Xanxus’ mind.

Xanxus

Don’t you see I'm smoking here?

He quickly finishes his joint and goes back to bed. He lays down and stares at the ceiling. He blinks.

Cut to:

INT. Xanxus’ Apartment – Day

Xanxus opens his eyes. The sun shines through his blinds. his phone Alarm BLARES. Xanxus looks over and shuts his phone off.

Xanxus

I really need to invest in some black out curtains.

He enters the bathroom and starts brushing his teeth. He washes his face and exits the bathroom. He finishes getting dressed he grabs his bag. He reaches for his keys, and cell phone and we see a family photo of younger Xanxus and his parents. A glare covers his mother’s face. He looks at it and puts his hand over her and he offers a silent prayer. He exits the apartment. We hear him insert his key and lock the door with a CLICK.

Cut to:

INT. Vatinheim University – Day

Xanxus sits in the back of the lecture hall reading a small booklet titled “Guide to the Japanese language.” Yuuto enters the lecture hall and sits down next to Xanxus. Xanxus peeks from inside his learning material before he quickly returns his attention back.

Yuuto

Now is that anyway to greet a friend

Xanxus

Did you greet me?

Yuuto opens his mouth to reply but stops.

Yuuto

Touché, How ya doing buddy?

Xanxus

I'm the same as I was yesterday and ill be the same way tomorrow

Yuuto

I’m guessing you didn't sleep well?

Xanxus

What are you my doctor now?

Yuuto

Don’t be like that we’re friends so its natural for me to worry about you.

Xanxus

I may need your dad to write me a new prescription.

Yuuto

Its only been a month the time between changes keeps getting shorter and shorter.

The two sit in silence for a while.

Look forget that for now ill talk to my dad later. My parents left on vacation for a week and I was thinking of throwing a party tonight with some classmates and I want you to come, you stay cooped up at home too much.

Yuuto

And reading manga and learning Japanese, I know dude but you’ve got to get out and meet people it will help I know I sound like my dad but it will, plus Victoria really wants you to come so please come hang out.

Xanxus continues reading his book. Yuuto pats him on the shoulder.

Yuuto leaves the lecture hall. Xanxus closes his eyes and sighs.

EXT. Vatinheim station – Afternoon

Xanxus stands on the train platform reading his small book.

Train P.A.

Train approaching Platform B. for your safety please remain behind the yellow line until the train comes to a complete stop.

A train whizzes by the opposite platform. Xanxus’ distorted reflection in the passing train window takes on a sinister quality to it. Xanxus glances up. He averts his eyes as sweat starts to form on his brow.

Train P.A.

Train Approaching platform A. for your safety please remain behind the yellow line until the train comes to a complete stop.

Xanxus begins to tremble and slowly shakes his head not taking his eyes off his book. A black pool develops at his feet. Dark tendrils slither from the pools and constrict his legs. Xanxus takes a shaky step forward and another until he is in front of the yellow safety line. Xanxus Struggles to not move any further. he slowly raises his foot and slowly moves forward until his foot comes centimeters from the yellow line. A train Horn BLARES snapping him out of his trance. Xanxus stumbles back before the train hastily pulls in. The doors Hiss open and people exit the train. Xanxus sighs and lowers his head as the sea of people push past him.

INT/EXT. Kwik & Dip – Evening

Xanxus puts down a pack of cigarettes, six pack of beer, and a pack of cigars on the counter. The cashier rings It up

Cashier

It will be 15.75, sir

Xanxus place his Smartwatch near the card reader and it deducts the funds from his account.

Cashier

Thank you sir have a good night.

Xanxus

Yea you too don’t work too hard I know they don’t pay you enough

Xanxus winks and throws up two finger guns. The cashier forces an awkward chuckle. Xanxus goes outside. He opens the cigarettes and pulls one out. He digs in his right pocket. Then he digs into his left pocket. He looks frustrated and checks both of his jacket pockets. He snaps his fingers and a black fire comes out of his thumb like a lighter. He lights his cigarette and puts the fire out.

Xanxus

Id rather not go back in there for a lighter…especially after that lame exit line.

Two armored trucks and several police vehicles whizz by. Xanxus closes his eyes.

Xanxus

Another raid huh? The cursed can never catch a break.

Xanxus sighs and looks up into the night sky. The stars twinkle.

Xanxus

But I caught one…right…

Xanxus with hollow eyes in a burning warehouse flashes in Xanxus’ mind. He snaps back to reality and starts walking.

Xanxus

we all pay for our sins…right right never forget.

EXT/INT. Kurosaki Residence – Night

Xanxus approaches a Big house with a large gate. Lights flash through the windows and muffled music can be heard. Xanxus cringes and presses a button on the gate. The speaker CRACKLES to life.

Yuuto (O.s.)

Oh Xanxus you made it ill open the gate come, come buddy.

The gate BUZZES loudly before it CREAKS open. Xanxus walks up the driveway to the door. He bangs on the door. He can barely hear Yuuto as he approaches over the loud music. The door opens and Yuuto stands with a huge grin.

Yuuto

Hey buddy I'm glad to see you made it, Ill take those.

Yuuto takes the beers and walks Xanxus into the kitchen. Yuuto sets down the beers on a table full of liquor and beer. Yuuto hugs Xanxus who is limp.

Yuuto

If we weren’t so close, that would hurt.

Xanxus opens his mouth but two girls cut in between the two and bombard Yuuto with questions. Xanxus shrugs and cuts through the party and goes to the backyard. He sits in a chair by the pool. He rolls a blunt. He snaps his fingers and the blunt glows a dark red before it lights on one end. He places the blunt to his lips and inhales deeply. He exhales a large smoke cloud. He places the blunt to his lips again and inhales deeply. The sliding door opens. Xanxus turns slightly to see Victoria out the corner of his eye. He exhales.

Victoria

So this is where you were Xanny. You don’t say hi?

Xanxus

Hi Tori, I'm sorry

Victoria sits down and dips her feet in the water slowly she kicks back and forth.

Victoria

You shouldn’t be so cold to Yuuto. You know he cares about you… a lot… we both do.

Xanxus looks back through the glass patio door. Yuuto sings karaoke on a table surrounded by partygoers. Xanxus smirks and presses the blunt to his lips and inhales.

Xanxus

I know… but look at him. I don’t get what the two of you see in me.

Victoria

You really are dense huh?

Xanxus

Victoria

That’s the beauty of friendship it isn’t about what we see in ourselves but about what others see in us and vice versa.

Xanxus

Xanxus pulls the blunt back to his lips, Victoria quickly snatches it and takes a big hit. Xanxus gets wide eyed. She hands him back the blunt and stands up.

Xanxus nods. Victoria grabs his head and kisses his forehead gently.

Victoria

I know this isn’t your crowd I just wanted to see you and id hoped you'd try to mingle but jet if you must.

Victoria opens the door and joins the crowded party. Xanxus stares at his distorted reflection. He puts out his blunt and grabs his bag. He stands up and walks over the Brick wall that surrounds the back yard. He tosses his bag over and climbs the brick wall and leaves.

INT. Xanxus' Apartment – Night

Xanxus shuffles up the hallway to his apartment “666” with the six in the middle has come loose and hangs down as a “9”. A box leans next to the door. Xanxus looks it over.

Xanxus

From Mr. Thomas… Dad?

His phone dings. He pulls it out. “one new message from Yuuto.” He open the message. “Hey why didn’t you say anything when you left you ok?” Xanxus replies “ Yea man just feeling a little tired gonna eat shower and sleep.” He digs in his pocket for his keys and unlocks the door. He enters and drops his bag in his apartment before he goes back out to grab the box. He drags it into the living room and leans it up against the wall. He goes out onto his balcony and pulls out a cigarette he looks over the city. He watches the people walk down below. He looks over to his plants.

Xanxus

Looks like we all need to be watered.

Xanxus chuckles to himself. He puts out his cigarette and grabs his watering can. He sprinkles water over all his plants. He puts down his watering can and goes inside. He goes into the kitchen and prepares himself some instant ramen. He sits down on the couch and turns on his tv. He puts on some anime and begins to eat his ramen. He occasionally looks over to the box until he is in a full on stare. He puts down his bowl of ramen in frustration and scratches his head.

Xanxus

something about that box… is pissing me off!

Xanxus gets up and grabs the box. He lays it down and opens it. A shiny black rectangular case with spiritual seals all around the seam sits in the box. He removes the case.

Xanxus

What the fuck is in here?

A letter sits in the box where the case sat. Xanxus removes the letter and opens it. He begins to read

Xanxus

Dear Xanxus,

Xanxus voice slowly becomes the voice of Mr. Thomas as he reads the letter.

Mr. Thomas (V.o.)

Its your dad… well I'm sure you figured that out already… I've missed you son I hope all is going well with your studies. I hope your eating right your mother would be turning in her grave if you were eating unhealthy every day.

Xanxus looks over to the bowl of instant ramen.

Mr. Thomas (V.o.)

I'm sure you miss her… I miss her as well… she loved you so much when she found out she was pregnant with you…she…she…she loved you just know that and I love you too and I know what happened wasn’t your fault I didn’t pay enough attention to either of you and I regret that to this day and have no right to continue to call myself your father after I abandoned you twice… but I'm only human and I didn’t know how to deal with my pain… I still don’t… I'm sorry I didn’t mean for this letter to get all emotional but look I'm on a trip for work in japan for a couple months then ill be on my way to Germany. I found something I thought you'd like since you watch all those Japanese cartoons. It’s a katana forged by an old master supposedly the Blade is made from melting down the Demonlord’s horns after the holy war, and strengthen by the spirits of slain demons. Happy late Christmas or birthday son.

Xanxus tosses the letter aside. He slowly peels away the spiritual seals. Upon the removal of the last seal a dark red translucent smoke pours out the seams. Xanxus slowly cracks open the case. A katana with a sheath completely covered in spiritual seals sits in the case. Xanxus grabs the hilt. And lifts up the sword. He slowly draws the katana. The hilt sparkles golden. A huge pulse hits Xanxus and the blade quickly corrupts into a black color.

Xanxus

Ugh!

Xanxus’ eyes go white and blood explodes from his nose as he collapses with a loud thud.

Ext. Inner Sanctum – Day

Xanxus slowly awakens face down in a very shallow pool of water. He lifts himself up to a sitting position. He looks around thin burned trees sprinkle the landscape. The pool of water shoots out infinitely in every direction, undisturbed it reflects the blue sky. Xanxus notices someone in the distance and gets up and slowly walks towards them. Xanxus approaches a Samurai sitting with his eyes closed. The Samurai sits on a pedestal placed in front of the largest of the burnt gnarled trees. The samurai raises a hand in a gesture for Xanxus to sit. Xanxus sits.

Narakatsu

You must be wondering where you are? Your spirit has entered the Sword world of The Kubikiri Hime, and I am her first master Narakatsu The Flaming Thunder God.

Xanxus

I've read about you, you're one of the legendary blessed who helped defeat the demon lord… But you couldn’t have used this sword isn’t it made from the Demonlord’s horns?

Narakatsu

That is correct…?

Xanxus

my name is Xanxus.

Narakatsu

Xanxus… what a unique name… yes it wasn’t this sword but it has been used by me and countless others to stop the scourge of demons… how long has it been?

Xanxus

The war ended about 300 years ago its October 2035 currently.

Narakatsu

And the demons?

Xanxus

They were wiped out long ago but about half of the population has been infected and given demonic powers… its caused quite a big class divide…

Narakatsu ponders for a second. He looks concerned. Then he looks back at Xanxus for a moment.

Xanxus

What you staring for?

Narakatsu

Are you one of these infected… you have an unnatural and powerful aura emanating from you?

Xanxus

Yes I am…I'm cursed with the Black Flames of Amaterasu…a power once held by…

Narakatsu

The Demonlord… yes… I see…

Xanxus

Am… am i..going to be the next Demonlord…

Narakatsu

That is highly unlikely you'd have to be a demon, plus I sense you have only a small fraction of his power… but something about how you resonate with this sword is unsettling…

The Inner sanctum begins to shake violently. And the Sky turns red. The Samurai stands up. He turns to the tree Behind him as it begins to crackle. He quickly runs and kicks Xanxus away. The Tree explodes in fire and wooden shrapnel. The Samurai Draws his sword and cuts any debris that flies towards him. Xanxus collects himself.

Xanxus

Yo what was that for?

Narakatsu

Be quiet and Stay back.

In the burning corpse of the tree stands DemonLord Vandel. Narakatsu tightens his grip on his word. Vandel’s eyes glow through the shadow cast from the flames behind him. He steps off the stump and walks down the pedestal stairs. He arrogantly places his hand on his hip.

Xanxus

Is…is..is that…

Vandel

I am the Supreme DemonLord Vandel, Pleasure to finally meet you…… Xanxus.

Narakatsu

What…what are you doing here you should have been banished.

Vandel

Hello to you as well Narakatsu, You fools weren’t strong enough to beat me I just split my power sealing half in my horns and the rest I left to wander to find a suitable candidate for my resurrection.

Narakatsu looks over to Xanxus. Xanxus is frozen solid.

Narakatsu

Xanxus Listen to me, don’t be afraid you may share his power but you don’t share his heart. So I need you to please leave this sword and don’t come back…

Vandel Interrupts Narakatsu by tossing a large black Fireball at him. Narakatsu Sidesteps. Vandel lunges through the smoke from his attack with a black great sword. Narakatsu blocks but it thrown back.

Vandel

Me and him have a lot to talk about I wont let you get in my way you senile old fool.

Narakatsu grips his sword and charges Vandel.

Narakatsu

Spirit Cleanser.

Narakatsu blade glows white as he slashes as Vandel who dodges. Vandel slides back and grabs his side.

Vandel

I always forget the slash of light. You hear that Xanxus Holy magic does more damage to us D E M O N S.

Vandel smiles as he bends backwards to look at Xanxus. Xanxus’ eyes wide enough for veins to be visible. The word demon echoes in his mind.

Narakatsu

Heavenly Chakram!

Narakatsu swings his glowing sword sending three flying light cutters at Vandel. They all connect with a large Smokey explosion.

Narakatsu

Xanxus You are a Human born to human parents you are not a demon don’t listen to him.

Vandel(o.s.)

You know nothing about the boy fool! Human or not I bet he has the potential to be even more powerful than me.

Xanxus doubles over and starts to sob hysterically. Narakatsu grits his teeth. Vandel flies out the smoke at Narakatsu. The two clash Swords as Vandel pushes Narakatsu back. Vandel jumps high into the air. He prepares for a thrust attack.

Vandel

Hellish Crash

Vandel flies down toward Narakatsu with his blade engulfed in black flames. The attack connects with a huge purple fiery explosion. An injured Narakatsu jumps back out of the smoke and stumbles to the ground. Blood covers his left eye and his hair has begun to loosen from his ponytail. His uniform is torn and scorched. Vandel clears the smoke with a powerful swing of his blade. The wind lifts and startles Xanxus as he is tossed away onto his back.

Vandel

You wont last another 5 minutes. Don’t you see my power far exceeds that of one blessed human.

Vandel narrows his eyes and grins in an arrogant taunt.

Vandel

Your god has forsaken you.

Narakatsu stands up. He sheaths his sword and places his palms together and closes his eyes.

Narakatsu

I pray to the spirits above to give me strength through my ancestors and my fallen comrades, Bless me with the power to vanquish the evil that would dare to oppose your altruistic goals.

Narakatsu is covered in a Traditional Samurai war armor made entirely of Golden Light. He opens his eyes.

Narakatsu

Flaming Thunder God’s Mantle!

Narakatsu stances up. He draws his blade unleashing a powerful Light cutter. Vandel jumps dodging the attack.

Narakatsu

Light Crucifixion!

Narakatsu Appears above him and front Flip slashes him towards the ground. A pillar of light explodes into the air from his Impact. Vandel flies away from the Crater and debris. He looks up while he flees but has lost sight of Narakatsu.

Narakatsu(o.s.)

You seem to be slowing down, you're so young you cant be running out of steam now!

Vandel turns to see Narakatsu running backwards ahead of him. Vandel skids to stop and backflips into the air.

Vandel

Hell swarm

Vandel raises his hand and bats of flame pour out towards Narakatsu. Narakatsu is swarmed by all the bats.

Narakatsu

White Whirlwind!

A tornado explodes from the swarm of bats and extinguishes the flames. Vandel lands between Xanxus and Narakatsu. Xanxus sits still shook. Vandel looks visibly irritated. He looks over to Xanxus. He returns his gaze to Narakatsu with a grin.

Vandel

You know what happens if you die in here right?

Narakatsu looks over to Xanxus.

Vandel

You die out there too… at least if you still have a mortal body… you see where I'm going with this.

Narakatsu

You wouldn’t…

Vandel

I've waited What was it? 300 years? I can wait another. Death Piercer!

Vandel turns and throws his flaming sword like a railgun at Xanxus. Narakatsu charges with an explosive take off after the Blade.

Narakatsu(v.o.)

I…I wont make it in time to deflect the attack!

Xanxus watches as the attack comes at him with incredibly destructive speed and power. He throws his hands up to shield himself.

Cut to black:

The sound of a body being pierced rings out. Xanxus feels something warm and wet splatter his face. He opens his eyes. Narakatsu stands with the black great sword pierced through his abdomen. Xanxus’ face is covered in His blood. Narakatsu collapses back onto Xanxus. Xanxus holds Narakatsu. He coughs up blood and looks Xanxus in the eye.

Narakatsu (Weakly)

Listen *Cough Cough Cough* listen Xanxus you… you are not a demon… you are not the same as him… don’t… let… don’t… let him…mislead you…

Narakatsu trails off and passes away in Xanxus’ arms. Vandel walks over and grabs the sword.

Vandel

Flaming Thunder god my ass

Vandel violently yanks his sword from the corpse. Its slowly disintegrates and a new more vibrant tree sprouts in the distance.

Vandel

You either eat or become dinner, guess he was dinner. Now Xanxus my boy come here.

Xanxus starts to shuffle away. Vandel slowly walks towards him with the great sword slung over his shoulder. Xanxus has tears in his eyes. Xanxus backs into a tree. Vandel reaches out and presses his thumb to Xanxus’ forehead and grabs his head. Xanxus squeezes his eyes shut as images of his mom, dad, Yuuto, and Victoria flash in his mind.

Vandel

Now lets see what kind of Curse you have.

Vandel grins.

Vandel

Oh…this…this is interesting.

Ext. Xanxus’ apartment – Night

We see Xanxus’ balcony. It explodes.

Ext. The Slums – Night

Zeno walks down an alley way far outside Vatinheim. He pauses and looks up into the night sky as Xanxus’ cries ring out.

Zeno

its finally happening…Zynogre

Cut to:

Ext. Dilapidated warehouse – Night

Kuro sits on a throne of trash and scrap metal. He opens his eyes and grins devilishly. He begins to laugh it echoes into the night as we rise into the sky and overlook the slums and Vatinheim with a full moon. Smoke rises from the city into the sky. Kuro’s Maniacal laughter continues.
