Blind item about a soap actress has yet to be confirmed

About 6 weeks ago soap fans of THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS and GENERAL HOSPITAL were on high alert because multiple websites began sharing the same story. It started out as a “blind item” related to a female soap star who was allegedly dissatisfied with her show. No specific actress or daytime drama was initially named which led to mass speculation about who the disgruntled cast member was.

The next stories named GENERAL HOSPITAL as the daytime drama involved. Speculation grew that Laura Wright or Kelly Monaco would be leaving and there are compelling reasons that were given for both. I shared the news because soap fans like to know what’s going on but knew that the rumors may have been false. Next, it was reported that Michelle Stafford might be unhappy about her character Phyllis on THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS.

In the meantime, Y&R viewers noticed the way Summer Newman was being changed and those who suspected King would leave the CBS soap were correct. The actress herself has yet to officially indicate that she is gone but both Jason Thompson and Michael Mealor have confirmed that Kyle is out. If Hunter King does address her departure this still does not validate the rumors.

There was a time when blind items, spoilers, leakers, and set insiders could be trusted but not anymore. Either trusted sources in this day and age are intentionally misinforming soap fans or spoilers are fibbing that they obtained their information from actual reliable people.

Many soap fans are assuming the rumors were about Hunter King but no one knows for certain. If no other female soap stars walk away on the next few weeks most people will say the blind item was about Hunter and that will be that. If indeed King is the prominent soap star then how did Laura Wright, Kelly Monaco, and GENERAL HOSPITAL get dragged into it?

To specifically name a soap and two actresses is serious business. All of this including adding Michelle Stafford was nothing more than guessing. If there has not been a leaker who provided reliable information it should be stated that the article is based on guesswork.

Soap fans want to believe what they read and do not like being deceived. Thanks to the Internet practically anyone can write what they want whether it’s true or not. In the days of Rona Barrett, a reporter had a trusted relationship with celebrities and would often obtain factual breaking news. Sometimes actors and actresses released information about themselves on purpose because they enjoyed the publicity.

Gossip reporters had newspaper columns band when they shared a blind item it came to pass. At this point, no one has come forth to indicate that Hunter King was indeed the soap star in the spoilers but it looks like she might be the one. The soap vet is currently working on LIFE IN PIECES on CBS and PROSPECT on ABC.

Allegedly she wanted her schedule changed so that she could do both while remaining on THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS but the execs said no. The rumor mill is suggesting that Kyle and Summer will obtain their happy ending but there is no guarantee. King might already have taped her last scenes and not be able to join Michael Mealor when his character departs Genoa City.

Hunter King might continue on prime time without ever addressing her Y&R situation. It’s been kept under wraps this long and her castmates have remained mum so the real story might never come to light. Her om screen love interest Michael Mealor only thanked his fans and those involved with the CBS soap but did not mention why he was leaving.

Mealor admitted speaking out because his “ Uncle Billy” Jason Thompson broke the news first. Although he did not give a reason for leaving, spoilers have said it was due to failed contract negotiations. Regarding Michelle Stafford, Laura Wright, and Kelly Monaco soap fans will have to just wait and see because two things that are constant regarding daytime drama and they are change and misinformation.
